Baller kc Posted December 27, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 27, 2019 I’m going to be in Orlando late next week, and the following week. Long range forecast showing some pretty significant wind gusts, (out of different directions, depending on the day). These are the sites that come to mind for me in terms of protection. The Boarding School, LaPoint Ski Park, and Swiss and MC, in Clermont. Looking for input from locals and “regulars”. Thanks in advance.
Baller TEL Posted December 27, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 27, 2019 All of them are pretty well protected most have two different courses in different directions. Don’t forget Matt Rini great coach He also has two courses
Baller kc Posted December 27, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted December 27, 2019 Thanks @TEL. I agree, Matt is a great coach. His site seems a bit more open to me though.

Baller dvskier Posted December 27, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 27, 2019 Hard to beat The Boarding School.
Baller Jaypro Posted December 27, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 27, 2019 The @theboardingschool is optimal, 2 tree lined courses east-west, north south. Always can find flat water
Baller_ lpskier Posted December 28, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted December 28, 2019 We are good up to 17-20 in any wind except NE where we top out above 12 at LaPoint Ski Park. If winds stay as predicted, we should have great conditions through next weekend. The Boarding School should be fine, too, and it’s a fun place to ski. Baller markn Posted December 28, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 28, 2019 Swiss is my go to site during windy conditions. Great, wind protected site and great people.
Baller DSP Posted December 29, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 29, 2019 Last year we visited or drove by Swiss, MC, Rini’s lake, LaPoint and Eden down in Ft. Myers. My vote is Swiss.

Baller skihacker Posted December 29, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 29, 2019 If cost is one of the factors and you don't necessarily need coaching lapoints is probably the best bang for your buck.
Baller bikesrus Posted December 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 30, 2019 To be fair, we have only skied at LaPoints, but it handles wind well. And we’ve met some pretty cool people there. Have fun!
Baller VONMAN Posted December 30, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 30, 2019 Swiss for windy conditions for sure. Ernie Schlager
BigGerald3
TBS for us, U get Travis and Freddie! 2 lakes for slalom depending on wind. I’m sure the others are great, I trust lp
Baller jhughes Posted December 31, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 31, 2019 LP is an overlap course with a little dog leg on one end. It’s great but if that’s a factor for you then it’s probably good to know.
Baller kc Posted December 31, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted December 31, 2019 Thanks so much everyone for your input. I’ve actually skied each of the sites that I mentioned, with the exception of The Boarding School, which I’ve heard nothing but good things about. Baller jhughes Posted December 31, 2019 Baller Share Posted December 31, 2019 TBS is great, especially with Freddie Winter there. Great coach (as is Travis of course).
