I didn't get an up close look at it, but it didn't seem that abrasive or have a big predisposition to snagging anything. The actual openings seemed very small, but I'm not sure how small. I'm hoping the West Shore guys will have some up close pictures or details. I've installed enough jump ramps (more than one is enough) with huge plywood curtains to realize something else is needed. Weekend update: All through bolt holes in stringers plugged trimmed and floor sanding has begun. Mocked up new steering wheel and hub assy. Hull nearly 75% sanded and making ready for paint. I could only guess how many hours of sanding I have into it already and now it's time for wet sanding and buffing. It appears to be some kind of mesh in the area around the waterline. Since he uses aluminum for the curtains, I am assuming that it is aluminum mesh of some sort. I've painted the garage exterior, basement block exterior, and finished the steps to the lake today. Have enjoyed some free skiing at residential lake these fine days. If you can build anything that takes off and lands under your control my hat is off to you - I know how difficult that can be. @OldGuysRule I love the stain on those steps and railing - excellent choice of colour. Nothing like spending all winter building a plane only to watch it crash on the first flight! When R/C became reliable and affordable my builds had at least a fighting chance of surviving.LOL I love seeing the diversity of the skill sets in this thread. Wouldn't it be great to have Baller City where everyone was a skier with lakes for streets and we all pooled our skills building stuff all day? Baller JohnN Posted April 9, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 9, 2020 Too many cool projects in here to count - seeing what you guys are building gives me motivation! @EricKelley Years ago we did a full transom in a 68 Javelin flatty (Summer's Death) because it sank on our first overnight, made it out of aluminum plate and glassed it in - we ended up building a new deck, new dash, motor and tranny mounts, and glassing the top and inside. Boxed aluminum framework, and I think the panels are trailer panels? Fam’ has spent a lot getaways in Brattleboro over the years. Always thought it looked like there was good skiing potential. Saw a couple courses years ago on the river going north on Rt. 5. Did our skiing on Lake St Catherine and once I took a couple lessons at a camp on a pond (forget the name) in between Manchester and Rutland. Baller vic Posted April 11, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 11, 2020 No big projects but got Perfect Pass installed in me Ski Centurion, Yesterday finish cleaning, fixing and reinforcing the swim platform. Rebuilt vent fan tubing and moved fan to better location. Test run boat and reset timing. I also waxed the outside. Still Have to clean interior no that work on boat is done. Not much boat traffic and the current is usually nonexistent except after rainfall. Give a shout if you are ever back in the area and want to do some skiing! I pass through Brattleboro quite a bit on way to best friend's house on Spofford Lake. Maybe link up sometime as Im passing through. The course is about a mile south of downtown Brattleboro, so a couple miles down river of the route 9 bridge. Even though were on a river, boat traffic is small so conditions at the course site are often very good at all times of the day. Shoot me a message next time you come through! So today I’ve started working on my other “winter project” bringing the Z50 to show room condition. Took a couple of hours to tear it apart carefully and taking pictures of the process to help me when putting it back together. I know as soon as it gets nice out, everything comes to a stand still and we're outdoors. My little guy (5yr old) is getting into the Avengers movies and wanted to know if I could make him a Thor hammer. The perfect dink around shop project to kill some time on crappy weekends and spend some quality time with mini-me in the shop. Glued up and milled down some scraps of poplar and ash little bit of turning on the lathe the dry fit, then glue up a little stain, a little paint, a little carving and wallah! Thor hammer! Been working 55-60 hrs a week (thank goodness) Have a couple of projects going a the moment. First one is trying to finish the 1948 Chevy pickup. Total build project. New frame, Mustang 2 front end 1987 Chevy S-10 rear end, box from a 1968 Chevy stepside pickup, 350 V-8 , paint and interior Second one is updating the 1968 Firebird. Updating to power front disc brakes, new floors, new interior and upholstery, new wheels and tires and paint. If this shut down last long enough and I finish these 2 projects I have a 1950 Ford coupe that needs a total restoration . Flathead V-8’s are so cool!
