Baller ReggieO Posted May 27, 2020 Baller Share Posted May 27, 2020 Good morning Ballers, Out for my morning set, and suddenly I had a total loss of power to my engine and dash board. It restarted fine, but this happened twice during our set. No codes or faults came up, any suggestions on what would cause this to suddenly shut down the engine and dash? Thanks for your help in advance! Keith
Baller Orlando76 Posted May 27, 2020 Baller Share Posted May 27, 2020 Just to clarify boat runs then shuts off including dash then starts back up with no problem? Easiest place to start is kill switch but I wouldn’t think that’d kill your dash, maybe it does on a BU. Wonder if there’s a short on the engine somewhere. At what RPM range does this happen? Baller skihacker Posted May 27, 2020 Baller Share Posted May 27, 2020 My first thought would be check ALL the various battery cable connectors, not likely to be corroded but vibrated loose is pretty common.
Baller dvskier Posted May 27, 2020 Baller Share Posted May 27, 2020 @AFB Correct, I had a similar issue a couple years ago with my 2004 SN. Turned out to be the positive lead to my battery had failed. Got a new clamp and it’s been fine ever since.
Baller ReggieO Posted May 28, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted May 28, 2020 Hey Ballers, update It appears that the connection to the battery was loose. The nut and bolt used to tightly fit the connection on the battery post was fine, it was the other side of the connection, where the cables attach to the device that goes over the battery post! Simple yes, but frustrating I didn’t pick this up upon initial install! Thanks to everyone who provided suggestions! Have a great evening!
