Baller Skiphreak Posted September 11, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 11, 2020 Attempting to purchase a bimini on SIA from a gentleman in OH, but we are running into logistical issues shipping. UPS does not have a box that will fit. Seller has offered to build a crate but I’m thinking that will be extremely costly. Anyone have any experience or suggestion? Thanks! Baller skimtb Posted September 11, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 11, 2020 Can the canvas be removed and the frame broken down into smaller pieces? I think they are all multi piece frames right?
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted September 11, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted September 11, 2020 the largest part is the bent tubes. The box won't be very thick, but will be wide and long. best way to ship a bimini is in a boat
Baller kpickett Posted September 11, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 11, 2020 I've had one shipped. After checking all the different options, Greyhoud freight was by far the cheapest and easiest. The seller just wrapped the heck out of it in plastic, no box. It made it to me just fine. Cost around $150, if I remember correctly. He dropped it at his local depot. I picked it up at mine. It was pretty fast, too.
Baller Kwoody51 Posted September 11, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 11, 2020 You might try Uship as well. Would be super easy to slip in the bimini alongside a shipment already headed in your direction.
Baller ForrestGump Posted September 12, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 12, 2020 Hell, I had one shipped via UPS. Wrapped in bulbble wrap and plastic, no box. Cost like $60 to ship. Was fine.
Baller Zman Posted September 12, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 12, 2020 +1 on Greyhound. Shipped one a few years ago just well wrapped in plastic. Was about $120, and was fast. So long as shipper and receiver are fairly close to a terminal. I checked UPS and FedEx, would have been at least double.
Baller gregy Posted September 12, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 12, 2020 I had one ship through a trucking company. Don't remember which but the seller rapped in up in really good, bubble wrap and several layers of cardboard.
Baller Skiphreak Posted September 12, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted September 12, 2020 Seller got a quote of $95 from Greyhound. He’s shipping to me in the next few days. Thanks to everyone for the helpful responses! Knew BOS would steer me in the right direction.
