Baller seveet Posted July 20, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 20, 2021 I need to pick up a new life vest. I would consider a comp vest, but would prefer to find a good CGA vest (I am still a little leery of falling hard enough to knock myself unconscious). Baller hemlock Posted July 20, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 20, 2021 Maybe I'm naive, but I trust the people in the boat to save me, more than a life jacket. And a cga life jacket won't flip me over if I'm face down knocked out. So, go for a vest that you can move freely in, so you don't wipe out hard. :)
Baller oldjeep Posted July 20, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 20, 2021 Take a look at radars X vest https://radarskis.com/products/radar-x-30-cga-life-vest My wife is my driver and at her size, getting my 190lbs in the boat is going to be tough - so floating is good. Baller Edmund Posted July 20, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 20, 2021 I have been using this one for two years, and it is OK. There are newer versions of it now. I do wish it was just a little less bulky especially around the arm hole area, but it sure floats you nice and high. 2020 Ronix Vest
Baller 6balls Posted July 20, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 20, 2021 If not going CGA then go Stokes and take one size up they run small.

Baller ALPJr Posted July 20, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 20, 2021 I’m a CGA safety believer. Lot of good choices and prices out there. Call a reputable shop or look online.
Baller ReallyGottaSki Posted July 20, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 20, 2021 The one time i failed to buckle my uscg vest, i tried to buckle it while skiing, gave up, chose not to let go, and kept skiing. ended up taking a once in 20 year slappah, ski spooned the wake almost knocked me out, concussed, vest partially blew open the zipper, and arms were bound behind my back below my butt, jacket around thighs and lower arms uscg only for me and my gaggle
Baller seveet Posted July 20, 2021 Author Baller Share Posted July 20, 2021 That Radar is the one I was looking at. Right now they are hard to find. There is also a Ronix capella 3.0 koal and XRT that look pretty good. The radar is less expensive. If that has worked well, I will pick one up. Baller oldjeep Posted July 20, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 20, 2021 @seveet - If you are on the smaller side Midwest Watersports has Mediums/smalls (and XXL) https://waterskis.com/2020-radar-x-3-0-life-vest/ I can't speak to the current version, We have a x vest 1.0 and 2.
Baller steeliejunkie Posted July 21, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 21, 2021 I have the radar x vest 3.0. It’s extremely comfortable and not overly bulky at all. My only complaint is the amount of water it takes on. The vest is substantially heavier when you take it off and drips off for a long time. Currently considering a stokes for empty mornings on the lake. Will still use the radar for busy days when the tubers come out.
Baller ironhorse Posted July 21, 2021 Baller Share Posted July 21, 2021 Unfortunately Stokes doesn't have a lot of sizing options available currently
