Tryathlete
I probably could use a little search education. In any case does anyone remember off hand the ratio of linseed oil to mineral spirits for teak preservation?
Baller ALPJr Posted September 21, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 21, 2021 The people at Teak World told me to clean it well with would warm soapy water (or acetone if in rough shape), let dry, then rub in 2 to 4 coats of 50/50 linseed/spirits. Baller_ RichardDoane Posted September 22, 2021 Baller_ Share Posted September 22, 2021 don't be careless with the oil soaked rags when you're finished, people have literally burned down the house by not disposing of properly
Baller Cnewbert Posted September 22, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 22, 2021 Watson Teak oil works great if you don’t want to bother mixing.
Baller GaryJanzig Posted September 22, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 22, 2021 I use a two part teak cleaner called Teak A Teak B. I use Amazon's Golden teak oil. I apply the teak oil with a paint brush. I use a tire brush while cleaning.
Tryathlete
So far so good. I mixed the two and brushed the first coat, let it soak and wiped the excess. A few more brushed coats and I’ll let it dry and take a few pics. It had gone completely grey but no black the last year due to a hurried launch this Spring. We don’t have water at the pier (common pier) or power so if I don’t do it at home it’s not happening. This Fall I pulled early due to low lake levels and potential retrieval difficulties. Lots of time to winterize, clean, teak, etc.
