Guest
I’m looking for a part for my 08 response lxi. It’s the chrome that goes around the gauges.(dash shroud). My got ruined and no malibu dealer or store online has this part anymore. So I’m looking to see if anyone knows someone who has a salvaged boat and selling parts. A Malibu from the years of 2006-2016 could have the same dash shroud as my boat. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Baller Kelvin Posted September 21, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 21, 2021 I'm curious. What happened to that one? My neighbor had his repainted with a textured finish similar to truck bed liner. Perhaps you could smooth that one out with bondo and repaint it.
Ginganinja
I tried to strip the chrome and left it in the chemical solution too long like an idiot. I was playing with that idea but the dash is something you look at a lot and I plan on selling the boat in the future, so that would be my last option. Baller ski6jones Posted September 21, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 21, 2021 Use that as a template and have a machine shop cut one out of aluminum, or cut one out of plastic with a faux carbon fiber finish (or whatever you think would look good). Baller Jordan Posted September 22, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 22, 2021 Fill in the damaged areas with bondo then paint, or hydro-dip???
Baller Wayne Posted September 22, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 22, 2021 I’m inclined to agree with Jordan if you cannot find a replacement. Repair the pitting with body filler and cover it with something. Since it might be really hard to fill things in you could have it upholstered to something that matches your interior colors.
