Baller coach3 Posted July 29, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 29, 2022 Any feedback? How long until one can ski up to par, or does the wake hurt the implant? Is it even possible or maybe better after a chronic bad front knee?
Baller jimbrake Posted July 29, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 29, 2022 Well, close - mine was my rear knee. Surgery on 2/7/18, skiing by May that year. No pain.
Baller skiinxs Posted July 29, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 29, 2022 Mine was rear knee 12/17/21. Skiing the course on jumpers late April, slalom ski late May. I have been pushing hard for flexibility but still nowhere near what it was. It is REALLY hard for me to get up without enough rear knee bend, as I have to get up with both legs fairly straight. Once I'm up, no issues. Minimal pain from replaced knee. I would be fully back up to my normal if I wasn't being so cautious. My main goal this year is no crashes. Baller MrJones Posted July 30, 2022 Baller Share Posted July 30, 2022 I do not have a knee replacement, but am a PT who sees a lot. As with most things it depends. How was your flexibility and strength going in? If the knee functioned well but just hurt you should be back at it fairly soon. I would think at 12 weeks you could be skiing fairly comfortably. Maybe sooner. And yes, it certainly should feel better than before or why have it done?
Baller_ Rednucleus Posted July 30, 2022 Baller_ Share Posted July 30, 2022 @cougfan had both knees done one year apart and was skiing 4-6 months after each surgery. Last I heard he is a happy comfortable skier again. Skiing with him at our annul Curlew trip this week, will ask him to comment!
Baller thager Posted August 1, 2022 Baller Share Posted August 1, 2022 I had my TKR on Halloween in 2021. After PT I was back up skiing full speed after ice out in April 2022. I have had zero knee pain. Am presently skiing at line lengths I had not seen in years. Sorry that I waited so long!

Baller coach3 Posted August 10, 2022 Author Baller Share Posted August 10, 2022 I have a double knee replacement scheduled this fall, 6 weeks apart. Cautiously optimistic....yikes.
