Wilhelm Hertzog
A friend gave me this ski. Does anyone know anything about these Mastercraft LaPoint skis? I take it there were a few other models in the range as well (Pulse, for one). Given the LaPoint name I was wondering if these were decent skis in their day. Baller rogerw Posted May 4, 2023 Baller Share Posted May 4, 2023 Not sure about that particular model but I used a dark blue Lapoint slalom occasionally back in the late 80s. They also sold an asymmetrical one as well. I thought they were ok. Back then used to get into 14.25M line at 58 kph. I'd give it a try and keep it if I was you, if only as a keepsake

Baller swc5150 Posted May 4, 2023 Baller Share Posted May 4, 2023 (edited) I had a Radius back in the 80's and loved it at the time. It was a huge step up from the Jobe Carbon V I rode prior. I still have the Radius but it's of course retired. They were high-end skis back in the day. Edited May 4, 2023 by swc5150
Baller MDB1056 Posted May 8, 2023 Baller Share Posted May 8, 2023 Great wall art, but I wouldn't ski it.
Baller ShererSkier Posted May 17, 2023 Baller Share Posted May 17, 2023 My dad bought a Pulse after talking with Bob LaPoint at a tourney in Wisconsin in the late 80s. He also skied on one behind one of their boats after the tourney with my mom and baby me watching from shore. He skied on it until I was around 15 and started using it and had to put new bindings on it. I used it until the HO coefficient came out and my skiing addiction began. Last time I skied on it was a few years back after thanksgiving 34 degrees with snow on the ground. Not sure why that was the one I grabbed for that day 😅 It’s defiantly a different feel than the newer skis and now we have it hanging up with the rest of the “semi-retired” skis, along side my coefficient!
