Kswap
Looking for a strut for 1994 tige made by fineline. 1” shaft can anyone with the same boat provide a number off the strut or some dimensions? back story: strut bushings were worn upon changing them we opened a can of worms. The shaft had to be removed. Once the coupling was disassembled it was noticed the shaft sits no where near centre and it must be forced to centre Making alignment impossible. Shaft is straight had it checked at the machine shop, leads me to the strut. Upon inspection it is not the original strut. Broken hardware missing washers and not a Tige part number. it’s obvious it has been worked on before. Tried to shim the shaft to get it centered with no luck it’s just too far out. Tried to align motor to where it sits but the motor ends up so far over, the cover rubs against the belt. I know the shaft needs to be centered. Leads me to believe that this is not the correct strut for the boat. Tige cannot help as fineline made the boat and they do not have specs for it. Closet I have found is a strut off a 92 that has a different angle than what’s on there. I want to make sure it’s correct as it’s an expensive part. Currently has a 16 degree angle yet the replacement for a 92 is a 14.3 degree angle. Any help is greatly appreciated

That'd surprise me but sounds like you're on it.
Baller RAWSki Posted September 21, 2023 Baller Share Posted September 21, 2023 That is basically a Centurion Falcon so you should be able to cross reference.
Baller Dano Posted September 21, 2023 Baller Share Posted September 21, 2023 You may have to do some measuring. Ski Boat parts online shows several Tige struts. with a little measuring you should be able to determine which one you need. Take your old strut off mock up your propshaft to be the correct position with prop on. take some measurements from hull to shaft. keep in mind the end of the strut should leave roughly 3/4" gap between prop hub and the end of the strut. With a little measuring you should be able to determine the proper angle you need and match the dimensions to what is available. https://skiboatpartsonline.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=strut

Baller BraceMaker Posted September 21, 2023 Baller Share Posted September 21, 2023 You could always have something manufactured and welded up. its a section of stainless tube, 2 pieces of steel plate and a dimension. Trace out the holes in the hull and get a plate cut, measure the bearing size and order tube, then you just need to cut a bit of cardboard and cut out the filler and weld it up. Baller DP70 Posted September 21, 2023 Baller Share Posted September 21, 2023 I have the same boat - 1994 Tige 2000 SLM Comp - see attached pics of strut. [STSL 16] stamped on the starboard side of it - the other side is blank - no other markings on the strut. 1
Baller ForrestGump Posted September 22, 2023 Baller Share Posted September 22, 2023 What that means is that it's a 16 degree strut. You know it's a 6 bolt, and you know it's 1" . with that you can find a strut. https://www.myinboardmarine.com/products/strut-16-degree-centurion-1998-up-1-inch-shaft-6-hole-bolt-pattern-stsl-16-includes-strut-bearings-mhstrutstsl16-
