FriscoTom Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Hi everyone, I use a curved "radius" anti-roll slalom handle. I actually have three of them and the rubber seems to last forever so I have had them all re-tied many times when the rope wears out. The person that did this for me and many others charges way less than the $200 Masterline version. Is anyone out there doing this anymore? Thanks.
Baller skihacker Posted November 12, 2023 Baller Posted November 12, 2023 Masterline does it I think for $75? Might have to be one of their handles but not sure,
Baller 75Tique Posted November 12, 2023 Baller Posted November 12, 2023 Lake Elmo used to do it. I had one done there, but its been several years. Not sure if they still do. (Werent they sold or under new management or something like that?) Might at least be worth a call. https://www.lakeelmosports.com/

Baller MDB1056 Posted November 12, 2023 Baller Posted November 12, 2023 @75Tique yes Lake Elmo changed ownership a couple years ago. I still buy bulk rope for course repairs from them and new owner last I connected seemed very open to wanting to be accommodating to folks. Definitely worth a call as I believe they still have handles and handle supplies on the website 1
Baller Bufootin Posted November 13, 2023 Baller Posted November 13, 2023 Brenda with InTow will restring handles in either poly or spectra. She did several for me this past summer and the quality was fantastic. 2
Baller thager Posted November 13, 2023 Baller Posted November 13, 2023 Lots of vids on You Tube on how to string a handle. Get your rope from Lake Elmo Sports, Masterline, etc. and spend a little time learning how to do it. Something to do over the slow months. It's not rocket science! 4
H20SkierNC Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 Don't bother with InTow for restringing for the ENTIRE 2024 ski season.... she is already "too busy" to restring, even as past customer. Stunned at the response. Going to YouTube!
Baller_ MISkier Posted March 21, 2024 Baller_ Posted March 21, 2024 @Sedge, are you restringing handles? The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller Andre Posted March 21, 2024 Baller Posted March 21, 2024 🥺 Don't understand. I'm using ''soft'' MSN gloves now and still, the rubber will go way before the rope on all the handles that i have ever use...even when i was using ML kevlar gloves. My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance!
Baller thager Posted March 21, 2024 Baller Posted March 21, 2024 @Andre Just depends on your handle grab style. If you're a twister the rubber wears and tears pretty fast. I just use the curl in my fingers to hold on and my handles last for years even with kevlar gloves. 1
Baller Andre Posted March 21, 2024 Baller Posted March 21, 2024 3 minutes ago, thager said: @Andre ...If you're a twister the rubber wears and tears pretty fast... Happened to my dad 60 years ago! That's why i'm here! 😉 6 My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance!
Baller skihacker Posted March 21, 2024 Baller Posted March 21, 2024 Masterline restrings handles, 70 to 90 clams depending on which style, 1
Baller liquid d Posted March 22, 2024 Baller Posted March 22, 2024 While restringing is not overly complicated, be careful turning the handle 180 degrees and restringing to use the "good rubber". Many handles have grommets that are rounded on one end, and sharp on the other. You can still turn the handle, but make sure you tap the grommets outward so they are rounded on both sides when they are in contact with the rope, so it doesn't cut the rope over time.
Baller Sedge Posted March 22, 2024 Baller Posted March 22, 2024 @MISkier Yes we do. They are an option on our website. We just have to update it with photos. 3
Baller dave2ball Posted March 22, 2024 Baller Posted March 22, 2024 Contact Masterline. They will look at the grommets and make sure the handle is safe in its current condition. They will reverse the handle if requested. They have over 20 years in the business for a reason.
