  1. I had a 1996 MC pro star 205 w/ corvette LT1 engine and sold it in 2017. Loved it. Had it from 2012 - 2017. Great boat all the way around. A lot of compliments, very clean boat. When looking around back in 2012 I did not come across near me a Malibu otherwise i woulda got one. This Prostar was not too far for me, so main reason i got it. One thing i wish my old 205 did have was a rear ski locker. I would say you cant go wrong with either boat. Check both out and picture all of your items in it, which sounds like the sunsetter has more space from the folks who have them..... Here is a picture of my 1996 205 and also in picture is my new to me 2015 Malibu TXI that i purchased after i sold my prostar 205.. Put up a few pictures of your new boat when you get it.....
  2. This is cool. Can’t wait to purchase. I talked with a buddy. He is excited to purchase too.
  3. @ErikBerghiller and @vernonreeve —— I have a 2015 Malibu TXI, but i keep the windshield always open since my 2 kids go up to bow. QUESTION - Can your device fit on the boat with the windshield open??? I sometimes have up to a second family in our boat too. But man this would be awesome to have. i am like the others. Fantastic idea for us guys on a public lake. A lot of skiers out there on big lakes in the world like myself and others that have chimed in on big lakes and I agree with them, be great to have for us dads wanting to hit ski course as well as kids and wife..... I’m on a great big lake with a lot of coves. Be great to crank it on and go skiing anywhere on the lake whether in the main channel on calm day or in one of the many coves. My 2 kids (11 yr old daughter and 9 yr old son) would enjoy this and give them and myself targets to ski around wherever and whenever = awesome idea. My dad’s buddy has a slalom course hidden in a cove but lately has to take it up before he goes home due to the asshole neighbor (long story). I was down at lake at different times than him this year and only skied course 2 times last year it was maybe 5 times. In the past he would leave it up from late spring till fall and we would go hit the course. But now the neighbor in the area being a dummy. Anyway again, this would be awesome to be able to ski a course where ever you are on the big lake. GREAT IDEA guys for our sport. I know i would enjoy it with my family like the others on here as well, let us know when to purchase :-) Respectfully, Moski
  4. Great question. Private lake or big lake? A lot of inboards are fine with it. I was in similar situation but I’m on a big lake w/ a lot of coves to explore so my info is based off being on a big lake and being on water away from dock majority of the day and the marinas to get gas are spread out too. From 2012 to October of 2017 i had a 1997 MC ProStar 205. Great family boat and being out on water all day on big lake. I was in between a 2012/13 ProStar 197 or a Malibu TXI. Could not do the Nautique 200 OB due to not as much storage and I believe smaller gas tank and heard it eats up gas faster due to more of the boat is in the water (but heard awesome slalom wake). Many folks from different forums all had similar comments on the TXI is better at slower speeds and all line lengths over the ProStar 197 (but man o man the ProStar 197 is beautiful boat). Big difference in wake between my old MC and my new to me TXI. I ended going with a 2015 6ltr TXI and its awesome, the wake at slower speeds and all line lengths is amazing, the body lines. I’m super happy. Nice storage all around, great wake for my kids, nice size gas tank. I’m in a nice big lake so i go cove to cove, open water skiing, also slalom course on the lake (buddy puts it up back in a cove), we also barefoot, knee board, wakeboard, tube, gonna get few things to wake surf with it too. Hope that helps @Ridemx59 Respectfully Moski
  5. I had torn my ACL and meniscus (meniscus usually tears when you tear your ACL) —- it was my left knee and i am a left foot forward skier. when i was 35 yrs old in November 2012. Visited w/ 3 different doctors/surgeons to find out who i should go with. Had surgery mid December of 2012, I choose to do the cadavaear less invasive and fine for my age, i decided not to go with my own hamstring or patella.... Took PT seriously and went at it had, she the PT was like a drill sergeant. That summer of 2013 i just did 2 skis and at end of summer did very lightly slalom skiing. 2013 wore entire year a don joy brace during any activities. Following year of 2014 I was running half marathons, slalom skiing, barefooting, biking, etc..... all back to normal since then. This past spring i tweaked it with my son’s baseball and soccer team, iced it up and took it easy for 1-2 weeks and back to normal (i just watch certain movements).... Moski
  6. Saw in comments “Connelly skier” and made me think of ——- Jamie Beauchesne was a long time Connelly skier. Be great to see Jamie B around. He was down right just a stud at water skiing and i am sure he still is as this day killin it somewhere. I would have to look it up but he had a few World Records.
  7. @skiinxs I’m in STL area too. Great to hear. I’ve heard about swamp area. I might have been to your lake, if yours held the junior competition between USA vs Canada. Gonna send u a PM. Looking forward to talking with you. Respectfully, moski.
  8. Wow. Had a session with Doug Meeker. Learned soooo much on technique and dialing my Radar Vapor. 100% Gonna be going back to him.
  9. Thank you guys. Damn great stuff. Sweet videos @Tom351 . All something to think about. I found a guy in the US were he takes GoPro cameras (well any camera) and he can put an 8mm or 12 mm lense on it so your video is crisp and clear and not pixelated/fuzzy like it can be with digital zoom. He is similar to the the Back bone in Canada which i had previous posted about this but here in the states. Its on the pricey side, but you can littlerly use the gopro stock lense or put on the 8mm or 12mm lense so it becomes like a dslr camera switching out lenses. Im pondering over it. If i do this and get it, i will report back and post video too. I like the other ideas too. Cool video @Tom351 ...
  10. @mxhideout hows it look when your filming a water ski session or wakeboard session? Footage good? Since its digital zoom i assume you lose some of the clarity (not as clean, crisp footage)...
  11. Well the GoPro hero 7 has touch zoom (has zoom in capablities). Will wait around a little longer to see how other like it and probably end up getting it early next year.
  12. @Chef23 Very cool. Thank u for idea. Will keep that on the radar.
  13. @Chef23 I would love to send my kids to Coble ski camp, myself too. But that’s a good distance from Missouri. Don’t see me getting that one past my wife lol lol. Thank u all for helping out. Keep it coming if a place was not mentioned. I’m open ears for places around Midwest/Missouri. I Love this sport. My family too. Alot of family memories and many more to come. Just great to see my 11yr old daughter and 9yr old son wanting to learn more and ask me questions. I can only show them basics of slalom. Can’t wait to send them to a kids camp next summer here in Missouri (they r excited).
  14. @Horton thank you. @Ipskier. Will do. Sending you a PM. Yeah its hard to find some of these places. Appreciate the help. My kids are 11 and 9 yrs old. Good slalom skiers. But I’m going to send them to a kids ski camp next summer for a week long ski camp to get better (that is what they want which is cool to hear as a dad) at slalom, but also play with trick skiing, get better on wakeboard etc........
  15. @foxriverat @emwheaton —- thank you. Ill give him a call. Appreciate the help. I am sure there are others in the other states. Ill be going to Indianaplolis and Kansas City in the coming weeks.
  16. I travel around few states for work. I have run 15 off and 2 balls at 22 off at 30mph. Someone recommended to me to actually run speed at 32mph. I have a 65” HO Mach I (grey w/ neon green) that was my dad’s and its from around 1995 i think. I got a new to me ski, recommended by few folks i have talked with and gave them my background. It’s a 2016 Radar Vapor 66”. I am 5’8” and 150lbs. I need help getting this Vapor dialed in. Looking for some ski schools help to get ski dialed in for me but also lessons at the same time to get better at the ski course. The states that i work in are: MO, part of KS, half of IL (southern part), IN, KY, TN, AR, MS, AL. Ski schools in these areas to get ski dialed in for me and also better myself in ski course??? Thank you in advance for your help/advice, moski
  17. So been looking around. Will wait till next year to get it which gives time for next models to come out. But i finally had time to play around on internet. Looks like GoPro hero 6 black can zoom in. Anybody have GoPro hero 6 black??? How does it work??? I have a skidoc orbit pylon mount holder for my 2015 TXI..... curious on how the stabilization and shaky ness would be withe the Skidoc orbit and GoPro hero 6?? Looks like up in Canada there is a company back-bones, here is website: https://www.back-bone.ca/ Looks like they can take a GoPro hero 6 black or older GoPro camera or other cameras that have stabilization and add/retrofit lenses on them. You can take different lenses to get the zoom you want or film you want etc.... anybody come across them and buy from them in Canada???? @njriverrider I have iPhone X , just not crazy on putting that on the skidoc orbit (don’t want my iPhone X flying out). Thought of idea: put my phone into a case, tie a loose rope to the pylon or barefoot holder i have near bottom of pylon, so if something happens, the iPhone will slip out of holder and stay in boat. Just thinking ahead, don’t want to loose my phone... I’m gonna do that and see how that goes...
  18. Needing advice on action cameras. I don’t have anything at this moment. Looks like there is GoPro6, Tom Tom Bandit, RYLO and i am sure there are others. Pros and cons to any of these or any that i have not listed? As a side note: i have iPhone X and i have a iMac, as well a iPad Pro. Not sure if that info is needed but just in case when it comes to editing or saving to iMovies on my iMac..... Thank you in advance for advice, Moski
  19. I was talking to guy at boat dealership. He is a slalom ski and barefoot guy too. He asked when I barefoot or ski do i stop the boat, let the waves hit back of boat and then pivot the boat to turn around and get skier or footer. I said yes i do. He said that tip/hint is what should get out to all the wakeboarders & wake surfer boat guys. Whether they have their ballast tanks full or not, if they slow the boat down to stop and let their big big waves hit back of boat, then pivot to turn around to get their surfer or wake boarder, that would decrease all big ass waves they make from rolling down lake and hitting sides of lakes and prevent erosion. He said he has seeing a lot of them pound throttle down and turn around which sends big waves rolling into the shores, etc..... just a thought for all lakes and does make sense....
  20. I agree w/ @UWSkier Move them up to the colored part, right under the rub rail. @sunvalleylaw . I did samething, I had letters match the font of the slanted Malibu font on rear of boat. I did 1/8” chrome trim and main letters in red flake. ( I was cleaning after day on water and must of rubbed to hard and must of snagged the corner of that #4, so I’m going to get it fixed) .
  21. @mmosley899 — thank u for advice/info. Double boots: I do know the double boots felt odd. Maybe takes some getting used too. Whether I screw them down to ski or use your system im not sure. As far as my original thoughts and my current thoughts and my level— front boot be Vapor or reflex on the MOB release with the HRTP or RTP. Guess I can buy both HRTP and RTP and see which I like. It’s been good to hear different opinions on which front boot. Some like the Vapor and other like the Reflex due to its more rigid/stiff etc... I think I’m leaning towards the Vapor for front boot since I’m used to rubber boot feel.
  22. Does it take a bit to get used to double boots? Well I guess that’s personal preference and comfort level is different for everyone.
  23. @GregHind — nice picture. Where is that? Nice boats. Especially the TXI. This will be my first summer with my 2015 TXI (sold prostar 205, great boat).
  24. I tore my left ACL 5 yrs ago and I’m left foot forward. I’m probably overthinking this, well I am overthinking lol. Just want to get a good dependable set up and I don’t care to go thru what I went thru 5 yrs ago. @hemlock — thank u. Good to hear. @skialex — thank u. Dang great info and things to think about. @Chef23 — that’s what I think I’m leaning towards do vapor boot with RTP or see what the the HRTP/half RTP feels like. @gsm_peter — yeah maybe do a poll. I do agree double boots being the safest. But — I have skied and tried the double boots and that just feels really odd and uncomfortable. Maybe the ski felt weird too. Maybe just something need to get used too.
