  1. @Horton when you say six 45lb bags, where did you buy them and who makes them? @BCM - thank you for idea. Like the bag. Not sure about using sand in case it breaks. @2Valve - thank you for idea. @"Pat M" - hell of a cheap idea. Thank you. Moski
  2. What’s the consensus for weight to add to your ski boat to balance it out? Looks like wake ballast 50lb steel shot is one option to purchase.... just seeing what other options besides that..... preferably easy to take in and out of boat, the material to not get moldy, nor no rust either, like durablity etc...... would just like to balance out the boat when only few of us in it. Thank you for advice Moski
  3. @quinne More boats are popping up. As end of season is coming. 2006 LXI. $25k obo http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Boat_3Event&postid=52122 Northern GA. — 2006 LXI. https://www.onlyinboards.com/Used-ski-boats.aspx?MakerName=3&YearFrom=&YearTo=&PriceFrom=&PriceTo=&Model=54&ZIP=&Distance=
  4. @quinne —- 2005 LXI. Dealer. $19,000. 850 hours. Located in SC. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Boat_3Event&postid=52235
  5. Yep. Correct. It was 2015 when they moved it forward (Dennis at Malibu informed me when I got his boat in 2017, he watches over the txi boats, promo folks, and the dealers). I have a PCM 6liter closed cooling in mine. Great guy.
  6. @quinne Gotcha. Hard to tell at the distance pictures on how interior looks. It’s all a gamble - Yeah sometimes they go fast and sometimes not. Onlyinbaords: Yellow/white LXI in Wisconsin and then also a white with black stripe LXI in Kentucky look sharp. Ski it again: 2004 LXI, blue and white in Wisconsin.
  7. That’s the same one on onlyinboards website that I mentioned before. From the picture it looks really clean. I’ve heard the hammerhead engine is great (Malibu forum), it gives more torque and horsepower vs regular 320 engine as other already said. As Tim on Home Improvement says “More horsepower”. When I purchased mine I’m glad I went with the bigger engine.
  8. Wow. The whole set up is just Beautiful.
  9. @UWSkier Got it. Thanks for correcting. On onlyinbords I clicked Malibu then clicked sunsetter LXI. I automatically thought LXI. But I just looked again at the actual listing and it just says “Sunsetter”.
  10. That’s actually a 197 due to the open bow. Not a 190, the 190 is a closed now. Also from others said it might be more prone to get waves over bow as u turn around vs Malibu. really any boats could if driving it wrong. But with any of them after a few turnarounds to get skier whether a MC 197 or the Malibu u will know how to handle the boat. But seems Malibu has just a little more freeboard. Looks like it’s got a 6liter too.
  11. Lol. Agree w/ @MISkier.... obsessed. @quinne Not sure of your price range. In Charlotte, NC. —- There is a purple (looks fresh, $20,000 —- carburetor) 1997 Sunsetter LXI on onlyinboards.com :-) If you and the ladies like purple that is.... not sure if your looking for carburetor or fuel injected. Before you buy, you can always have boat taken to dealer to run test on it to get it checked out..... hours seem low for this year, but then again some people buy a boat and don’t run them.... Folks on here will have better input on model and year.... These folks have awesome info @UWSkier @andjules @jhughes @6balls as well as others on this forum... The 2003 sunsetter lxi in Lexington, KY (850 hours, $22,000 fuel injected, has perfect pass and wedge) seems better then the 1997 though due to more hours on it and newer and the better hull from what the other folks are saying..... Onlyinboards - There are 3 response lxi (two are 2004 and one is 2005) in WI, KY, SC look sharp and clean..... price for these 3 range from $21,000 - $26,000. On skiitagain - 2004 in WI - response lxi. Nice... These guys are awesome on here and amazing with the history of these ski boats, models, and slalom techniques, etc... awesome website!!!! - for us skiers.. No idea why I’m looking. Just love ski boats and helping a fellow skiers is always good. Good luck and happy shopping and testing them out....
  12. @quinne Seems like onlyinboards.com has a bit more selection of boats your looking for than skiitagain. Onlyinboards website has a number of Malibu response LXI for sale around your area..... also some sunsetter lxi too.... and some 197s. Some of the Malibu Response LXI boats on onlyinboards seem nice and well kept and near your state, others are in Midwest, WI, etc..... One tip i would add. Don’t be afraid of the boat having good amount of hours on it — that means its been running and in working condition. My 1st boat the 1997 prostar 205 had 255 hours on it when i purchased (fall of 2012) it from the MC dealer in area (test drove fine), it had issues first 1-2 months in spring of 2013 (dealer fixed it), then no issues after that. But it was frustrating for a bit and not fun to spend more $$..... My 2nd boat —- when i was shopping around and nailed down and the the 2015 TXI it had 500 hours on it. Runs like a champ.... My dads buddy’s boat - he purchased it in 1996 and as of today it has over 3,500 hours on it. That’s what i will be doing with this TXI. I’m gonna keep mine forever. A lot of these boats will run for long time if taken care of and running it too. Others on here would know better —- but 3,500 hours on the boat might be like 30,000 miles on a car... someone please correct me. I am curious what the calculation of boat hours compared to car miles I agree w/ others: speed control is awesome to have. Wether my wife driving, a buddy that’s not familiar w/ boats that well, or when my kids get older to drive it —- the boat will hold it speed. Love the zero off.... Also check out the Malibu forum: Themalibucrew.com
  13. @skiinxs Dang Dave. Would love to, Maybe next time.
  14. Check out ski it again website. Some Malibu sunsetter LXI and response lxi for sale in SC and KY. Also Some 197 and X7 for sale too Also inboard.com has boats to check out too. Happy shopping. Whatever u get, show the group here and show it off.
  15. @IGski I know Ive seen 2 courses around the area by the dam before.... i think i may have a map that has the cove marked. Ill message you and we can talk. Of course they may have taken it down too..... been few years...
  16. I was in your situation in 2012 and ski at 32 mph. I’m on a big lake with a lot of fingers and coves and occasionally need to watch out for the wakeboard/wakesurf boats........ Both my kids got up at 7 years old and I had same reaction as you did. Sooo awesome to see that. Anyway in 2012 I bought 1997 MC prostar 205. Great boat for us and then in 2017 sold it and purchased a 2015 Malibu TXI. I really consider the 2011-2013 197 (just a damn gorgeous boat), but I did same and got some ideas on this forum and other forums and ended up getting 2015 Malibu Txi. Very happy with the purchase. I love to slalom ski and barefoot. Kids, well the kids do everything. Just seemed like all fingers pointed in direction of the Txi. Heard it was a bit better on lakes and not getting swamped (think the bow may sit a little lower on 197). Also heard for barefooting that Malibu is better for that too..... hope this kinda helps you out. Happy shopping. There is a guy in TN selling his 1996 MC prostar 205.... not sure if your looking at that age of boat. You might be seeing more boats come up for sale within next few months as the season comes to an end too....
  17. I agree. It saddens me too. I love the sleekness of the inboard/3 event boats without the tower. When I need to raise the rope up for certain activities, or to teach my kids friends to ski, kneeboard, wakeboard, etc..... or when I have a group with me and need extra seating space and don’t want to take a head off w/ the rope, I just take 1 minute to toss up my fly high pole, attach the rope up high and all is good.
  18. Anyone try this on their trailer? If so what is the verdict, unloading and loading, overall thoughts? Takes place of carpet bunks. http://gatorbak.com/ Sounds like this would help not streak the black/dark colored hulls. For me, I dunk the bunks/soak them before putting the boat on the trailer.
  19. Damn! That is a sweet set up. Nicely done.
  20. I was in your position 2 yrs ago. I put post here and few other forums. I had a 1997 MC Prostar 205. Of course your 1993 is better slalom wake then my old 1997. I’m Just intermediate skier. Famiky and I slalom ski (kids are 11 and 9 yrs old) But like to barefoot, kneeboard, tube, wakeboard, and also trying out trick skis. Occasionally go thru slalom course when my dads buddy puts it up. Anyway - the Prostar 197 is by far the sexiest beautiful boat. At time I could not find exactly what I was looking for, found some 197s boats but I don’t like towers (I understand the pluses of them but prefer extended pylon if i want to raise rope up). Inboard boat is sexier without the tower IMO. I was choosing between 2015/2016 Malibu TXI OR 2012/2013 Prostar. At the end once I saw this 2015 TXI (it’s sexy too, great wake too) I went with it - super happy with my TXI. I’ve been on a 197 too and I know I woulda been super happy with it as well. Again I’m just an intermediate skier so I’m correcting myself so either boat and it’s wake be fine for me (I’m gonna send Terry Winter vids to get his help). Post whatever u end up getting.
  21. @Andrewracoon From mastercraft team thread. 1995 pro star 205 for sale in WI. It’s open bow since that’s what it sounds like your looking for. $12,500. Looks good for being 1995. https://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=99147
  22. @ErikBerghiller —- Erik or anyone —- what’s the latest on this?
  23. @Andrewracoon Also look over onlyinboards.com website. Variety of Malibu sunsetter Lxi and other models for sale as well as pro star 205s for sale.... happy hunting..
  24. @Andrewracoon Playing around on websites —- here is one on ski it again. 1998 Malibu response LX. Open bow, step over windshield. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Boat_3Event&postid=47516
  25. @Andrewracoon — sorry, mine was a 1997, which is same as a 1996. Sorry but I’m not the best person to answer on slalom wake. Im still correcting my technique, working out bad habits. At my level I did not need to upgrade from the 205 to the response TXI, just like any guy I wanted to upgrade and after 2 yrs my wife let me have my way ?. The 205 would of lasted me to the day I die and I’m in my early 40s. On my new to me Malibu, I do like the rear locker that it has on it as well as zero off too. I was an only Mastercraft type guy, but took the blinders off when shopping around when getting my to me new boat, boy I love this Malibu response TXI (keeping this boat till I die). @MISkier — is much better to answer on the 205 wake. View the link of prostar 205 history that @MISkier put in. Cool ski videos @MISkier, I’ll be watching them to emulate and get tips off to better myself.
