  1. Been Skiing on my dad’s 65” 1996 HO Mach 1 with HO rubber boot (Velcro around back of boot) and a RTP. I’m left foot forward. Other extra info if it matters: 40 yrs old, 5’8” and 150 lbs. Just average skier. Open water skiing but a buddy puts up a ski course back in a cove. 15 and 22 off at 30ish mph. My new to me 2015 Response TXI has zero off so my wife will pull me at correct speed. Anyway I have a 66” 2016 radar vapor I just bought. Few questions: 1) looking at MOB release system. I tore my left knee (I’m left foot forward) 5 years ago and I prefer not to crash and have the ski helicopter on me and torque my knee. So that’s the main reason looking at release system. George Opser gave me good advice just let go of the handle lol. 2) What boot system Radar boot with RTP or HRTP with or without the MOB release system??? 3). Other boot system I’m looking at is Reflex with RTP or HRTP, possibiliy on the MOB release system as well. Thank you in advance for advice. Moski
  2. @TustinTom Wow. Thank u for the great detail in advice and info. Yeah I’m definitely otnoutting tower on it, no way. DD boats look awesome with out IMO. I already have the sky high fly high pole, bought that extended pylon when I bought the BI boom. Yeah I have no clue about what wakeboard to get either for kid or adult. Size, etc... I need to upgrade my slalom ski. I have old HO Mach 1 65” from 1996 (my dad’s).
  3. @MuskokaKy Thank u. Thank you I’ll check with perfski. Worked hard and saved up. Very excited. I’ve only slalom skied, foot, knee board, tube. I have no clue about tricking but heard it’s an awesome boat for that too. Basically I’m gonna have great crashes when trying to trick skii. Will make for good funny falls.
  4. @bananaron thank u. I was little nervous in beginning due to black hull and I’m OCD on keeping things clean and no water spots. Could not resist had to buy (pretty, it’s loaded, and it was taken care of). Photos taken at Tommy’s lake in east TN. I would love to have my own lake to ski during week days then go to my public lake for weekends. As far as trick ski looking for 41” fir kids and 43” for adult. @MISkier thank you. Family is excited for summer. @bigskieridaho Thank u for advice. Greatly appreciate it. Yeah I was looking at the Swell Wake Surf to suction cup to the side. Thank u again be nice to just buy one surf board and we all can use.
  5. @bigskieridaho Thank u. This boat was used in few tournaments. I got picture off the internet of @Rjaquess Regina Jacques skiing behind it. I Would like to find more with her, Will Asher, Nate Smith, And other pros. Dennis Kelly and Tommy Newman are great guys and the boat is awesome. I got it from eastern TN Malibu dealership. I had spoke to @Chad_Scott , good dude. I’m a slalom guy that plays in the ski course that my dad’s buddy puts up in a cove. I’m only familiar with water skiing and kneeboarding. My kids enjoy playing in ski course too. My kids want to go to this summer week long ski camp. Very excited. Kids and I barefoot too. I’m not familiar with surfing behind boat, wake boarding, or trick skiing. So my plan is to at least get few trick skis, as well as adult surf board and a kid’s surf board. What do u mean skim or surf? I assume since i have an inboard, even using the wedge plate i would think bigger surf board since small wake. I assume with the big wakeboard boats and ballast tanks and they put out big wakes u can get away with small board. I’m clueless with this stuff. Thank you for any and all advice guys. moski
  6. My new to me 2015 Response TXI with 6 liter. This boat is loaded with all options including wedge plate. Bought the TXI back in October. Sold my 1997 Mastercraft Prostar 205, Great first boat. But it was time to upgrade. Here r pictures (not my private lake, wish I had one though). Need advice —— my 10 yr old and 8 yr old are slalom skiing, kneeboarding, and of course tubing. Just to add to playing around behind the boat what size surf board to (wake surf) get for adult and also what size for kid behind the this boat????? Same question for wakeboard. Extra info. Im sure size is important. We are a slim build and average height family. I’m 5’8” and 150lbs. Wife is slim and little shorter. Our kids are both like 55lbs. I already know the size for kids trick ski and adult trick ski. I’ve lookes in skiitagain. Anybody selling a trick ski????? Thank you moski
  7. I've been looking for new ski and boot system. Mine are both outdated. Anyway, I'm with @ScottScott I'm leaning towards the MOB boot system with a rtp.
  8. @MISkier and everybody has great advice. I've had 4 adults and 4 kids, equipment and other crap. That's pushing the limits but I've done it. I also customized my cooler (within the floor and in front of the pylon). I drilled hole above the small drain plug it has, put a 90 degree small pipe and added a bit of a larger drain plug. When the ice melts I wanted that water to go thru that top hole that I made above the cooler drain plug and into the engine so it can be pumped out. Trying to keep any extra weight out of the boat :-) keep the wake small.
  9. @BeMorrNH Yes been a great boat. Sorry been busy with work. To answer your question from earlier. I bought in 2012 from a banker that always had it in garage and took are of it. Only had 284 hours on it when I bought it. I put 70-80 hours on it in summer. I keep it in garage before spring, fall, winter. Besides that I wipe it down as soon as it comes out of water. Keep it waxed up. Always clean interior. Few seams are spreading but not that bad. I've only re upholster the driver seat, just the cushion u sit in (not the whole seat).
  10. I'm considering selling mine 1997 prostar 205. Looking to upgrade to a 2015/2016 TXI. It's been a great boat. Runs great and good condition. Corvette engine. 600 hours. I have two people wanting to purchase it.
  11. has there been any issues with the 409/6 liter pcm/crusader engine with it? i heard there were some back then when they started to put the 6 liter pcm or Crusader or whatever the engine is called in the responses.... something about it vapor locking, it would start right up after sitting with the engine hood open for 20 minutes. so they took off a part or two and its been completely fixed now and no more issues... im looking at a 2015 w/ the 6 liter/409 engine. just want to make sure this is a good solid purchase for my family.
  12. i bit the bullet recently purchased the the ski - doc Orbit. been very happy with it. kids have bumped it a few times and its sturdy as hell. im sure the wakeye is awesome too, but just can see that getting bumped and snapping....
  13. i found it on ebay. $18.00. Thank you @DavidN and @S1Pitts ....
  14. @DavidN Cool. What kind of tape and where can I get it?
  15. The grip on the inside of the clamp is peeling up so it will not slide down on boom. Thoughts/advice on fixing this?? I plan to get a barefoot international boom when I get a new boat. Just need to get this clamp fixed to hold me over. Thank you Moski.
  16. @LoopSki nice picture of the old and the new MC. also be cool to see picture of each of their wakes at the same speed. just to see the differences between the old MC stars & strips VS. the new Prostar. maybe pictures of each at 30mph and then at 34mph or something..... Nice picture and nice boats.
  17. @UWSkier So my small canon vixia hf m500 handheld camcorder would be fine. Attached is picture of my camera. I plan on using my iPhone at times and I plan on getting a GoPro to use at times. Thank you for the advice.
  18. I'm leaning towards the Orbit. I just emailed them since I use a small hand held camera that has a screw hole on bottom. Here is their email to me----- The Orbit is based on the standard tripod screw system, so you will be able to attach your camcorder. As you probably know, some cameras do not work well for this purpose. Engine vibration can be an issue for some cameras. Action cameras like GoPro work the best. Yes, we are working on a dampening system but it is mainly for smartphones or other small cameras. There will be a limit to weight and size of the camera. The wake eye is expensive. But seems like it works and skiers are happy with it. It seems fragile though and could brake if kid bumps into it.
  19. Great topic. I've been wondering this topic too for a bit. I learned LFF. Been skiing since I was little. I'm right everything else though. I'm late 30's. I have two kids. I'm wondering which foot to put forward for them. My daughter is right handed for everything while my son is left handed for everything. Any advice is appreciative ...... @eleeski had some great info on this topic. We talked on phone for a bit a few weeks ago. I need to hear it again though. @llivetoski what u mentioned is one thing that @eleeski had said to, but he added to it.
  20. The ez cam was okay for a bit but then broke. Used it for one summer only. Not only did the barrel brake but also the top were my hand held camera went. I'm looking at either the Wakeye or the ski doc orbit. Having trouble deciding. I will plan to use my canon hand held video camera, go pro, and iPhone.
  21. my daughter came up on one last summer when she was 8 yrs old. 64" obrien slalom ski from a pair of combos.... she was smiling from ear to ear. amazing....
  22. @Horton thank you. this is a great forum. followed for awhile. great people on this forum. i've talked to a few guys over the phone last night and today. great advice. as far as skis. i got good advice last night from a guy on this forum. great phone call. thanks @OB1 im a: 30 mph. ive hit 15 off and have got to 3 ball at 22 off. he said wake will be a little better at 32 mph, so thats what i plan to do. but also my ski is a 1997 HO mach 1 65". boot w/ a RTP. he said dude time to upgrade that shit. lol.... again he gave me good advice. don't do a top level ski, i should do a mid range ski for what im doing now which will help me in the long run. also do Wiley boots.... I believe he said maybe stay at 65" ski but do a mid range for my speed and rope length (im 5'8" and 150): i think he said Radar senate is a mid range ski. what are other mid range skis????? im a bit out of the loop. Thanks, moski
  23. thank you guys. good stuff. appreciate it. im looking for a used/new to me ski.
  24. curious which waterskis are made in the USA? i heard and let me know if this is accurate: Connelly is made in USA, true or false? Top end Radar is USA, but their mid range is China, true or false? What about: HO, D3, Obrien, Thanks, moski
  25. lol. thanks mlange. using the WEDGE---- can that be used for trick skiing? or better question WHAT can the wedge be used for??? trick skiing, wakeboard, surfing?? i assume not tubing due to thats usually faster speeds...
