  1. @MuskokaKy Don't think so. I would go to the masters if I had the time! I'll just take some sets with Jmac up here instead and call it a swervin weekend :)
  2. I agree @skinut It surprised me there were no comments on this until now. When I was just starting out in this sport 20-30 years ago our local organizing association had a boat and 2 coaches who traveled around doing clinics like this.
  3. Very nice addition to the team. It is interesting Radar now has 2 of the top 3 female skiers on 1 ski.
  4. McCormick's for sure. Give them a call in advance.
  5. @RazorRoss3 it's a kid. They are pretty adaptable and can ski 10 sets a day. Rini cut the tails off adult comp skis for his kids as I recall. Pretty sure neilly Ross used to rip shortline on a cut down ski too
  6. What kind of wheel are you using @Horton ?? I tried with a grinding stone and it didn't do squat to a radar plate.
  7. Cant say enough about our stay at Great Lakes. Only downside it was too short! What more do you want from a ski vacation? - Weather: it's the Mojave desert.. calm, hot and sunny every day we have been in California. No humidity. Ski all year round. Perfect. You guys have seen @horton pics. Does it ever get windy? Barely by east coast standards. And even when it there was a breeze it seemed to not affect he water at all. Glass both days we were there, All day. - great lakes has 2 tournament quality lakes that are well established since the 1980s.. Blue dyed. 2400' long with turn islands. Very well protected by mature trees. Cool spring fed water (was 73 while the air was 95). - beautiful Nautique 200 dialed in. - Hospitality: Dean rolled out the red carpet for us. Stunning lakeside bungalow 2 beds 2 baths. AC. Hot tub, outdoor kitchen/BBQ. Gas Firepit. Outdoor HD TV. There is also an adjecent 2 bed 1 bath guest house. Massive deck on the water. - very reasonable rates for skiing and accommodation by any standard - It's about 2hrs from either LA or Vegas, an amazingly beautiful drive frim LA for us east coasters not used to desert and the various mountain ranges rising above - Easy flight from east or west coast. We spent a few days in LA taking in a ball game, some comedy and general sight seeing and after skiing spent a few days hiking around both the Joshua tree National park and Palm desert areas. If you haven't been to Joshua tree, put that on your non-skiing related bucket list. Only about 1.5hrs from the lake. I can barely pick up a pen to sign my name now after not skiing in 5 months and 3.5 sets in 24 hrs at great lakes. Wish I had more in me and more time to get back there. You guys got to go to @SkiGreatLakes !!!

  9. You have to. Last year there were some posts about skiing in California and then an image of all the man made lakes in both the Bakersfield and Newberry Springs area. None were offering (publicly at least) for hire ski rides or accommodations. That didn't seem to make sense to me and many others as well who fight ice and minimal options for good ski sites. Southern California is hot nearly year round, almost always sunny, close to major airports, amenities, and a number of very cool toruist attractions. What gives? Fast forward a few months and @SkiGreatLakes is advertising on this site offering just this thing. Sign me up! What more do you want from a ski vacation? - weather: it's the Mojave desert.. what else do you need to say? calm, hot and sunny every day we were in California. No humidity. Ski all year round. Perfect. You guys have seen @horton pics. Does it ever get windy? Barely by east coast standards that's for sure. - Great lakes has 2 tournament quality lakes. Beautiful Blue water and we'll treed surroundings, you don't know you're in the desert u til you leave. Main lake is a very nice ~2400' long. Easy setups. Again perfect - 2014 Nautique 200 dialed in. - Hospitality: Dean rolled out the red carpet for us. Stunning lakeside bungalow 2 beds 2 baths. AC. Hot tub, outdoor kitchen/BBQ. Gas Firepit. Outdoor HD TV. He has packages that can fit your trip and are very inexpensive IMO compared to some other ski vacations. It's 2hrs from either LA or Vegas, and an easy 4-5hr direct flight from the east coast. Can't say enough about the place and Dean's hospitality. Only wish I could have stayed longer. I will be back. Watch out swampy Florida!!! Who's with me?
  10. What has been said. You only need 6 total mounting screws for the plate. 2 front, middle and back. I used the spacers for years on the front and back and have tried just front or just back but for the last few years have not used spacers at all. Can't say I notice a difference and I've added quite a few buoys to my PB in that time. My 2
  11. Based on his slender frame and ability to get down the rope he should be on a lithium vapor or other tournament ski. If he was a much heavier guy perhaps the Senate's extra width would be a benefit.
  12. @kurt you know what's funny - I live a 10 min walk from the shores of lake Ontario and I've never skied in ANY of the great lakes except Huron (Georgian Bay) many years ago. Ontario is just too damn cold! These great lakes look FAR more inviting for skiing :)
  13. Will be there Monday. So stoked! "If you build it they will come"
  14. I know this is an old thread @Commuterfisher @TustinTom but I am staying right down the road in Carlsbad at the end of next week. Would love to meet up with some ballers for some sets in the morning or evening!
  15. I have a few tops but use my O'Neill hammer spring suit the most. It's a 2/1 with full arms & short legs. Great suit.
  16. @ScottScott 1.03 is standard size, not large dia at all. Chet Raley suggests people use the largest handle possible if you're having issues, which is 1.183 from Masterline. There are 4 sizes larger than the 1.03....
  17. How large were you using? Shouldn't need palm protectors with a large Dia. They are also a cure for many ripped hands.
  18. @ScottScott some say larger diameter is better.
  19. The new ergo A is inside out too. Very Nice glove but when I tried on the vapor boa Amara they fit amazing. Same feel but a different fit. Can't wait to try them.
  20. If you are a slalomer and a footer The response lxr would be a great option. Not as great a table as the old response or the sporty but a very nice boat for all 3 disciplines. I see a guy footing from a 200 boom often. Spray doesn't seem to bother him but he's fairly novice. I haven't gone barefoot into in a few years, but for many years when I was younger it's all I wanted to do. Lack of a well protected slalom course on a large public lake with many coves meant finding good footing water was usually easier. The flightcrafts are still very popular for footers. All composite construction on later models- if maintained well, should last many years. Easy to throw a new 200 on one, not cheap though... new Motor worth way more than the hull now.
  21. @MattP yep. Straight exchange the pro build at $1800 USD is over $2400 CAD. Both prices are crazy! My green vapor retailed for aroubd $1500 in 2014. Exchange rate is killing us great white northern skiers :(
  22. @Johnbrannan it had been discussed here; the 17 lithium is still same PVC core as the 16 with a bit of a different carbon layup. In a nutshell. Only way you will know is if you try them both! I had talked to some guys who noticed slight differences going from the 16 lithium to the 17 pro build - which has a different core and layup. Very interested in how the new 17 Li performs as we are paying a high price for high end skis in CAD now... $1700 for the 17 Li and $2500 for the pro-build...
  23. Need a boat with the Excalibur motor from what I understand, and a new ECU prpgrammed for ZO as well as all the ZO hardware.
  24. @Jmoski I think the best option would be rigid plastic backboard inside a soft case like the masterline or dakine.
