  1. What Confuses me is why post an ad for a house that's for sale but can't disclose an address or zero details.
  2. I tried taking pictures but you really couldn't tell the holes in detail. I think we're just going to switch to foam buoys. Went out this weekend and we lost 2.5 more buoys. But one of them was a fin swipe from a pass I made earlier in the week. Sigh. Ed, were on Lake Harris.
  3. I might jump in on this as my ski partner and I are in dire need of instruction. We're just trying to time it right as we are in our first season of the course. And we're 25 minutes away.
  4. Although we have a huge gator population, like we can't complete a pass without one surfacing in the course, I'm certain it's not a gator. Although I'm sure we have otters in this lake, hadn't seen any and doesn't appear to be them causing the problem. I have never seen a hole on top side of ball, just the wet part. A gar or pickerel is a likely candidate. I just wasn't sure if we had too much weight suspended from the buoys. I think next go around I'll try standard ugly styrofoam sub buoys, at least for the boat lane.
  5. We have an unknown older portable course permanently installed on public water. Just my buddy and I ski it, his house is within sight of the course so he can keep an eye on it. On February 28 I replaced all the balls, by June 1 50% of the balls sunk. I replaced those balls, and in 6 days, 3 of those sunk. My original set were Overtons and Polyform, kinda mis matched to see if one would last longer than the other even though they seem to be the same ball. What I'm seeing appears not to be vandalism but rather stress caused on the ball or maybe a caustic action from acidic water? The bottom half of the ball that's exposed to water is developing holes, but not smooth pin holes like somebody poking/popping them, and every hole has same size shape characteristic and consistance making me doubt vandalism more. What we have is typical course suspended in 6' of water on one end, probably 10' the other. the course is sitting about 6' deep, with 3' or so rope coming from the pvc arms, then a 3' or so (stretched) cheap 5/16 bungee cord attached to the ball. the balls seem to sit about the same elevation in the water as the needle hole. Does this ball life seem normal? Could we have too much weight hanging on the balls? Over/under inflated balls? Thanks for the opinions.
  6. I started skiing double bindings but switched to a RTP after my first year. I feel like I ski better with double bindings, I feel slightly more secure but the freedom of a RTP and giving my back foot a rest between sets is well worth the trade off.
  7. Naturally we have a lot of choices here but I've gone to Matt Rini several times and he's always been very accommodating. Are the championships at Disney?
  8. Freddie just dialed 6 @ 41 in second round. Awesome!
  9. I'm new to following tournament level skiing. Mainly due to the lack of coverage. Why was Nate last to ski? Was it bc he placed highest in qualifying?
  10. And is 41 aging and declining? I'm begining to think I started too late in life.
  11. I prefer HO skis (even though I ski Radar currently). But IMO radar bindings are superior.
  12. Prop has very little to do with wake. I'm running a 540 on my 76 Ski. Seems to me the rooster tail diminished some but very minor. Go with the 540 anyways, it'll really make that boat feel young.
  13. I meant to ask over on CCF... is the 1/4" packing the proper size? SInce it's cheap and easy, maybe try 3/16 and see if that makes a difference.
  14. I was pulling for Freddie before the drama and still am. I felt Nate went just to win on his 41 pass. Don't just beat your competition... smoke your competition.
  15. I have a long sleeve top and a long sleeve shortie. I'm 6' 200lb and wear a XXL in the shortie and maybe XL in the top. I was heart broken having to buy the XXL. Honestly the LS top keeps me every bit as warm.
  16. I'm a noob at the course. Last year when I decided to get serious on the course I demo'd many skis. I tried all the above mentioned. The HO CX Superlite I felt was superior to the untrained. It felt great and very responsive. That being said, I ended up settling on a good deal on a standard Senate. No it didn't ski as good but was close enough for the money. I wasn't trying to be cheap rather viewed the Senate to be stepping stone to work with.
  17. New guy here and wanted to say hello. Been skiing 28 years now but wasn't super interested until this season and I've decided to get serious about my game. I'm in the Orlando/Mount Dora area. I've picked up a few tips already from this forum. Wanted to say a special thanks to Performance Ski and Surf. They've really done alot in making sure they had the gear I was interested in and their demo program was nothing short of awesome. I appreciate their hook up on Customer Appreciation Day and giving me a chance on a tow with Matt Rini which gave me pointers on what I'm doing wrong. What a great group at Perf ski!
  18. Born and raised in Florida and it's just too crowded and keeps getting worse. Lakes and ramps are insanely busy. Plus, skiing 13 months a year can really take a toll on your boat lol.
  19. Joe, Im at a similar level as you and 6'1", 200. I spent the past 2 weeks demoing skis. I think I just pulled the trigger on a Radar Senate Alloy 69". I tried the HO Charger, and felt like you said. The HO TX was good, but felt like I was a little further along for that. The HO CX Superlite almost won and felt really great but I didn't feel the difference in price compared to the reasonably priced Senate. Look for a store in your area that will allow you to demo skis or try h2oproshop.com with their return deal.
