  1. @Than_Bogan Yes, this is true, but I'll never have a chance to try XTM. My logic is like with alpine ski: if I tried and liked certain model which is a bit short for me, the most probably next length will behave almost same in regard of grip, torsion, stiffness etc. with some corrections. Or this is not correct with these skis - width changes ski behaviour a lot and shortly say XT and XTM simply two different skis? @swaterkd this is exactly how I think.
  2. @OB thanks for advise. Does this model have standard inserts for bindings or dual lock only?
  3. I am 56, 200, 5'10'', LFF Skiing second season and closer to September planning to go to buoys. Started on HO Freeride, after - on HO Triumph (my current ski). Certainly lot of things to work on and I understand that ski is not the most important issue for skier of my level. But recently I had a chance to do few passes on Goode Nano XT and that was amazing (though a bit harder)... So, now, naturally I can't get rid of idea to buy Goode ski. My question is - which one? Need help: what would be right choise - XT or XTM? I certainly would not like to overdo and buy the ski which is too early for me. Any Pros and Cons?
  4. General advise - keep ankle in ice bucket as long and often as possible. It may shorten healing time by 50%. Do not rush to ski. Rest & cold makes a miracle. There are so many types of ankle injuries - sometimes taping could make it worse. Professional consultation needed. In some situations silicone heel wedge can ease pain.
  5. I have almost same measurements as your dad (a bit younger, but heading in that direction :) ) I guess he has some "muscule belt" in waist area ) With that body construction some vests tend to "slip up" in the water, which is an iritating moment. Buckles genegally do not help because waist area has diameter similar to lower part of chest. Your dad probably will like kind of "flexible&stretch" vest that follows body line thus staying attached to body without "slip up". I stopped my search with Checkmate from O'Neill which stays on body where it should be.
  6. IMO: If skier in clinchers release a haldle intentionally, by straightening or relaxing fingers - hanlde may go even faster because it pushed out from palm by strap. If handle pulled out by force, it might stay in hand longer because grip is stronger - in fact Clinchers are designed for this )) Relaxed or strained Fingers behaviour could be an answer of "hang up"
  7. Im 10K kilometers away from nearest wallgreens, but I will ask my wife to find something similar ))
  8. @alex38 Combination of some surfaces could produce "nano-second" bonding effect. It is so called "short distance molecular interaction". And it may be really powerful force. That is a way how fly can walk on vertical glass surface. We never can predict that effect before we bump into it. You may try to treat strap with sand paper or rub and wash it with a strong detergent. Then see if it helps. @eleeski - good idea about o-ring. Will try this weekend.
  9. It is a pendulum attached to baby swing ))
  10. We also was thinking to test.... but... parcel with my Wakeye did a breathtaking 2 day tour from New Zealand to Moscow, spend 24 hours at customs and .... was returned back to New Zealand. Because DHL do not deliver to private addresses in Russia. Why DHL received shipment in Wellington from Wakeye is a big question mark!
  11. Although money is universal equivalent I always afraid to offend people giving money directly. Instead of this I always invite snow instructor to share lunch with me or in the summer come to ski/wake platform with decent bag of bananas & apples. If I ski with boat owner or individual snow instructor we keep to price tag - returning customer for them is the best tip.
  12. Talked to driver. He loved the idea about automotive pump. Local MC rep asks for 1K$ and a month for delivery....
  13. Thanks for all who already replied. Im not closing this thread but at least I may pass to owner some food for brainwork
  14. @Horton Im sentimental for this boat - my first sucessful starts were with she - I was 55 and she was only 16
  15. The Veteran is MasterCraft Prostar 190 1998 based in Moscow, Russia I have a very slight understanding about boats and our driver hardly speak English )) So my apologies if something sounds funny! The problem is with the part which I understand is for water circulation. It started leaking and making sound like slack rubber belt in old car (or tomcat in March :) ). Looks like this is it’s swan song (( Question: Could anybody help with advice? Is there a budget way to fix a problem? Where to buy either factory renovated pump or new with reasonable price tag? Or is there a repair kit with manual? Many thanks for any feedback!
  16. - What bag or backpack do you use to carry your skiing stuff to lake and from the lake? - Are there any smart ideas how to organize this? - What gear do you use? I'm always in trouble when need to find anything in my bag and the bag either too big or too small ))
  17. Yes. Optical stabilisation in 6+ just makes it worse. Iphones: 6 and earlier do not have optical stabilisation. We use 6 and quality is a bit better - enough to see mistakes. For movie quality - nothing but decent video camera. You may switch it on for the whole time behind the boat, then trim it as you want, extra bonus - you will know what your friends are talking about while you are in the water ))
  18. Quick look at the new bindings and plate under it will tell you everything
  19. Tried rear boot this weekend. Not my piece of cake, too early for beginner.... Now attaching RTP back. After completing this task will fight again and again not looking at the wake when crossing...
  20. Guy on the right is naturally born skier - has a perfect position for deep water start ) http://kvedomosti.com/uploads/posts/2014-04/thumbs/1397833140_1369476178_1335778263_embrion.jpg
  21. Mechanically thinking, shorts should not create a noticeable amount of drag because there is no any "ribs" or ropes or other elements that make it acting like a sail. During start it should simply roll up (or fold back) on legs. Though... last straw can break camel's back.. In fact I also start season in thin neoprene tight shorts, partly because of this reason - just not to think about turbulence )
  22. Colleagues! Thinking about Neoprene Dry Suit. Like this - http://www.mysticboarding.com/products/mens-waterwear-113/drysuits/vulcanic/#kleur_0f89ca Or like this - http://www.ion-products.com/water/men/wetsuits/fuse/drysuit-43-dl/ Look very attractive and need less thermal layers beneath. Are they too heavy for skiing? Does anyone use neo drysuit?
  23. I started at 55, weight is 220. Also with athletic background wich is not good help for start because body wanted to fight the boat )) Never did one successful one footed start (the only I got from one footed is torn hamstring and out of game for one month). I did one billion of attempts with 50/50 success before I made all things much simpler: The only thing I think about is pulling the front knee to the chest and back heel to the bottom. And that is. I do not think neither about angle of the ski nor how dip the ski tip in the water. Only trying to pull front knee to chest as strong as possible. The rest goes authomatically. Some time ago somebody clever on this forum told - " two footed start is exercise of body relaxation, the only power is concentrated in your fingers" I do follow this advise and making now 9 out of 10. Hope this help you PS just make sure that sole of front foot is directed to the boat, at the same direction as rope, not aside. If foot aside you fall inside )) Sorry for language, I am not native speaker.
  24. I am just beginner, therefore can not advise anything. But I have a weird idea brought from H. Harb alpine ski camp. The task to move COM more toward to front of the skis can be done in two ways: 1 - by moving body forward 2 - by moving legs back keeping good body position (as if you are kicking boots back) Either way works, but second way works better (at least for me) because stance does not change and all angles (heeps, knees) remain the same. Sorry boys for silly idea and poor english ) And hello from cold Russia.
  25. Hello from Russia! I am first year skier, therefore drama of going out from water still fresh for me ) May be my advise sounds silly for advanced one, sorry if it is. What I have learned - in addition to well known basics: front knee to chest-back heel to butt, the timing of doing this is crucially important. Do it (get small) half a second BEFORE you say "GO!" to driver, not half second AFTER. At least in my case this timing worked out. When I started to do it problem disapeared.
