  1. My boat '89 centurion falcon with Indmar 351. Pump here in Canada says it contains up to 10% ethanol. Fuel lines are original as is carb with no adjustments. Runs perfectly
  2. All i do is drain the motor of water. Simply pull the plugs (engine block and exhaust) and all water hoses. I pull the cover off the RAW water pump just to be sure. Blow out the shower line, and walk away. Survives winter in Canada every time. I can understand wanting antifreeze of some sort for corrosion protection. I do think the benefits are minimal though. Most of the antifreeze will drain back out of the motor through the exhaust manifolds or back out the intake from where it came.
  3. I've been around boats my whole life. My favourite child hood memories were on a boat. I started skiing at 6 or 7. a day on the lake is still my fave thing. Skiing or not. It's the lifestyle more than anything that keeps me involved. Early mornings, time with friends and family, sunshine, exercise, and relaxation all in one. I think Marcus's flow point series is on point when he shows what the lifestyle is all about. I think this needs to be pushed as much as the competitive skiing does.
  4. I have an 89' centurion falcon with a 3 blade. My ski partner has the same boat with a 4 blade. Mine is stock motor. His is fuel injected and juiced up with more HP. So I can not compare the whole shot (his is much better but that could be the HP difference). I can tell you that the wake is the same boat to boat, I do not notice a difference to ski either one. They both seem the same as far as tracking through the course. The 3 blade seems to be able to handle tight turns at speed with less slipping, then again there is not a need to crank turns like that.
  5. @skihard Yes, Duck lake is still active as far as I know. It's close to an 1.5 hours from where I am so I haven't looked into skiing there.
  6. @MISkier perhaps my previous post was a little hasty. I'm in the okanagan valley in B.C. Canada. It's all public lakes here. Summer here is a popular vaca destination and the lakes are super busy. Surfers are in deed out in force early mornings, maybe the drinks are a little later. I know that they love their sport as much as I do mine. I just wish they could understand what a ski course is, and maybe try to extend a courtesy to us skiers by simply using another part of the lake as opposed to right beside us. I know I have no more right to the lake than the next guy.
  7. Maybe we can unpopularize surfing and wakeboarding and tubing. nothjng worse then headed towards six buoys on glass and spotting a surf boat throwing tidle waves, spinning donuts at full throttle with no one surfing and 15 people sporting fresh drinks and the tunes pumpin at 6:30am
  8. Not the effect of cold water here, but maybe relevant. A few days ago I was having a really hard time with my ski. I was having a very difficult time rolling up on edge, Couldn't build any speed, couldn't get wide, and it simply did not want to turn offside. Because I'm only a 22@34mph skier I thought maybe just a bad day. I read this thread and decided to try a fin move because our water temp has fallen rather quickly here. So I measure my fins current position and determine my Fin length was 6.95". It had moved from where I originally set it at 6.845. I reset it to 6.845 and couldn't believe the difference. All is good again. I realize that fin was out by a lot. But I wouldn't have thought the ski would behave so much differently, especially at my level. If your having trouble with cold water try a fin adjustment.
  9. I would take @wish advice and get a GPS app for your phone to make sure your speedo is correct. The size and shape of the wake in your pic looks similar to my wake ('89 centurion falcon) at 24-26 mph.
  10. I'll agree with this. When I'm skiing well, I'm not being overly aggressive, in fact I'm doing the opposite and being patient throughout the pass. My instinct when trying something new is to try harder, be aggressive, and simply do too much. Fail, is the result. Lost posture, too much load that I can't hold across the wakes, and a pass that is just a waste of gas. For me if I can turn in for the gates with the same intensity (as an easier pass), keep my head up, round one ball with patience, I'll be in pretty good shape.
  11. @ToddL @mwetskier I think you guys are on the same page just getting caught up on the verbage. Maybe better to think of it as, move your left hip towards the 11:00 position to edge out, and the right hip towards the 1:00 position to initiate the turn in. I don't see it as a rotation of the hips. Although the hips do rotate as result of doing the above as the turn is completed.
  12. I keep my neo shirt on and my vest. (Vest helps a lot). It keeps me warm enough. I only have to wait for one skier before its go time again, and we keep the sets moving when it's cold. No standing around.
  13. I've been using k-palms all season. Ski 3-4 days a week. They still look brand new and keep my hands blister free. I bought L k-palms. Next time I'll buy M. 41 tails fit me in the M but are almost too small.
  14. @Deke @Horton I'm all for speed control I just think a project like this is geared more towards the guy who is entering into the sport without 30k to spend on a boat. speed control is not necessary for somebody to get on the water and enjoy every minute of every pass. I good reliable boat is pretty key though.
  15. speed control would be nice. Nobody will argue that. For a project that is to be a tight budget resulting in a good, reliable, dailey trainer. This boat will get you on the lake and in the course with a great wake, a strong pull, and a huge smile. With or with out speed control. If speed control can be done in budget, PP seems to be the hands down winner for cost and ease of install. This can all be accomplished for well under 15k. Provided the boat owner owns his own wrenches and has a good network of knowledgable friends who work for beer.
  16. I want to see this project come together. curious to see what path is chosen for the project. I will say this @smalor is a very good source for info on this topic. His boat performs very well. i think the goal Should be to complete the project for under 10k. Maybe this is a little ambitious, but I think it can be done. Maybe turf some of the frills and do without so money can be spent where it matters like motor and speed control.
  17. change the font to match ball of spray official style. I think the photo should also just be a silhouette of the skier and rope. I don't know how do the whole graphic thing though.
  18. go with the larger size. I'm using Obrien sectors. Very similar binding. They do stretch a little after a few uses. I've always worn my bindings loose, barely snug the ankle bungy. The bottom lace can go pretty tight and you'll still eject. I am of the opinion that it's better to eject and ski another day.
  19. '69 Bronco if its a short trip. 2003 V8 Explorer for a more comfortable ride.
  20. I normally spin if course allows for it. Some courses are situated such that rollers become an issue, so we'll drop to give them a chance to clear. I don't find fatigue to be an issue either way.
  21. wax a and grease remover. Use a plastic razor blade to scrape. All available at any auto parts store.
  22. I'm runnning O'Brien Sector Front and Force rear. Sector is much like the Radar Vector and very comfy. Same goes for the force, extremely comfy but allows a little more movement. I wear them extremely loose. I don't find a need to have them cinched down. Even with the laces loose my feet are secure and they provide plenty of support. In the event of a fall they eject with no issues.
