  1. @DaveD that's exactly what I hope to do but I need to check with the DNR first. @04196 thanks for the tips. With the capped PVC do you think the arm will still sink if a buoy is cut?
  2. I'm going to try the Capped PVC method that @Zman mentioned. If I'm correct the foam inside the arm is the same as a "Noddle" so I am afraid it would just become water logged as well. I do understand that the PVC arms will never be perfectly straight but right now the Boat Guides vary from 6' - 12' wide and it changes with each pass. My wife/driver loves the wide ones and hates the narrow ones, but she hasn't clipped one off yet. Thanks again for all the comments. I will report back on Monday as to how the repair worked out.
  3. Thanks for the feed back. @MattP I'm on Big Elbow Lake in northern MN about 20 miles West of the Mississippi River Headwaters. The course is located close to the boat landing, which isn't used much thankfully. @DaveLemons I like that idea but I'm only approved for 22 buoys. @klindy can I attach the sub almost right to the arm to avoid having them get into a prop? @MillerTime38 if I add weight will it straighten the arm or just sink the boat guide in place and still ski narrow like @6balls said (no wonder why I'm getting better)?
  4. In early July our Lake Association voted unanimously to approve my request for a course permit. I was shocked and thrilled. There were lots of questions but nothing negative. Last summer I purchased an EZ-Slalom portable course. But with out a permit we would put it and take out the same day. The course stayed pretty straight all day. Now I have installed the same course and left it in. For the first couple of weeks everything stayed lined up. But now I'm having Boat Guide problems. The guide opposite the turn ball is floating loose, sometimes wide sometimes narrow. I do tighten the anchors each week. Ed told me that the foam in the arms would water log and cause it to bow down slightly. That appears to be the problem. Any suggestions on how to fix this, outside of taking the course out? Thanks, Mark Pagnac
  5. I used Covertex for my bimini on an 03' Malibu. They have different height and length options as well as fabrics. I went with a 36'' H x 60" L. I'm 6'3" and it gives us headroom but still good sun protection.
  6. A suction mount and a GoPro with the app on your phone?
  7. I skied @theboardingschool in April with coaching from @FWinter & Manon, and was having the same issues. Fred's observation was that I was bringing may hand back to the handle way to soon. This was causing my turn to basically stop and point my ski directly at the next ball. They preached patience and to allow my ski to come back under the rope before grabbing the handle. It felt like my hand was off the handle for ever but when I did it my turns on both sides became much smoother with better position and a lot more cross course angle. of my last pass with them. I still have a lot to work on.
  8. X2 for @TallSkinnyGuy s method. My wife and I install ours in about 35 minutes. The key is using the swim platform when attaching the arms to the mainline as well as removing them. I had to use an IO boat to remove mine once and it added at least 20 minutes. Like @gregy we cover the trunk with a rug to protect it. We use River anchors. They hold great.
  9. This set up solved my problem for wiping the boat down. I started with a hand built 2' wide dock around the boat and added the aluminum sections over a few years.
  10. I'm 6' 3" 195 and have a 2015 XL Vapor vest and it's too large when wet.
  11. Travis and the @theboardingschool crew made it a fantastic day. The BBQ was awesome the Beer was cold & Good and it's so fun to ski at TBS. It was also great to meet new people. Thanks again Travis.
  12. @disland I think the answer maybe Yes on this one. : ) Brainerd Jaycees icefishing.org/
  13. This will be my escape from MN winter for 1 week a month starting next week until May. Should make winter a little more manageable. :)
  14. I've skied there 3 times now and the experience has been great. Here's a pic for an idea of what their set up looks like with the club house and dock. Please ignore the skier. They also have an easy scheduling and payment feature on their website.
  15. I had 03' Four Winns 190 (V8) and it had a monster wake, especially at slower speeds. If you are sking long line you may want to shorten to 15 off as the wake improves slightly there.
  16. @eleeski your quality of life will be so much better and being able to sleep through the night alone will have you asking yourself why you didn't do it sooner. After 2 total replacements I can stand on a ladder pain free or work from knees and get up with get up with out thinking about it. So your painting and fixing toilets will even be easier. As for sking, my surgeon asked me not to as well. I skied the course for the 1st time 2 years after my replacements. After many crashes I've had no problems. Take Care and follow your rehab!
  17. We stored our boat for the 1st time in the boathouse from June 1st to last week. No mold or mildew problems at all. There were a fair number of spiders though.
  18. @Horton is there anyway we can be notified when we flag a post, especially the (Disagree). I think alot of them are "fat fingers" as the disgree button is right in the middle of my phone screen when scrolling. I personally did it last week and caught it then clicked it off. But I think alot get missed. I Love the site. Thanks
  19. Looks like you will need the optional ski boat height extensions for the bunks so as @harddock siad the skegs and shaft clear. I have a Hewitt and the keel of my boat does not rest on the cross member. no problems.
  20. Try some dry land training. Attatch an old handle to something solid. With feet in slalom position, arms extended, palms down, squat as low as you can go (deep water starting position) then stand. Do as many reps as you can. This worked for me after hip replacement 4 years ago. I improved my balance and strength and now almost never miss a start. I still do this exercise when I haven't been on the water for awhile.
  21. How far from Pillager are you? I'm there most weeks Tuesday - Friday A.M. and would love to ski more.
  22. I had almost the same situation with a 2003 Malibu Response (paddle wheel set up for trick) that just we purchased for our FL house. After sking and driving it a few times I couldn't keep it consistent I decided to upgrade to Stargazer Wake edition. I have it on my MN boat and IMO its much more user friendly and more consistent. PP Tech Mark said its plug play pretty much for install. Its about $750 with the new display.
  23. Just installed mine on an '06 MC. Fit perfect and will work with my ski-doc. Thanks @Peter_B
  24. I skied there a few weeks ago and also had a good experience. They are in the process of building a clubhouse as they had no changing facility when I was there. @Lars my wife road along and did not ski, just make sure you leave your flip flops at the end of the dock. :)
  25. 1. Bought a home on a public lake in south Florida so we can escape the MN winters and ski. 2. 2016 Lithium Vapor from @skidawg. 3. Looking at a 2003 Response on Friday for the FL lake.
