  1. One of my ski buddies with a great eye told me... Big Toe! Pressure on your big toe at preturn and turn. Helped me.
  2. Yah, too bad for CP running 39 a second time....... then 4.5 at 41. Still a great score but nobody will ever know if got his shot at 41 one pass earlier.....
  3. @ALPJr wow is that a real name? Our lakes are much simpler to pronounce - Canandaigua, Keuka, Seneca, Cayuga.....
  4. This week, at Pikos' in Santa Rosa Beach. Good start I'll say
  5. Double last weekend (Bristol and Canandaigua same day)
  6. I'll bet Nate has the most 1st place, but if you add 1,2,3 over the last 10 years, I say TGAS has the most of that metric.
  7. I agree @stevieboy. TGas has to be one of the most consistent, if not the most consistent over the past say... 10 years. Does anyone have a database for the major tournaments including Worlds, USA/Euro Nationals, Pro Events? I'll be my old binding slime that TGas has more 1,2,3 finishes than anyone since his first World Championship in 2007. Who else would have more in this time period. Nate and Freddie have not been around that long. Will or CP maybe..... Who else is on that list?
  8. Looks like great conditions... love to see Tgas number 1 !

    Stupid Work

Usually fly to Orlando, lots of options there. Busy this week though, have to spend most of it actually working :|
  10. Packed for another "work" trip to Florida......
  11. Here in the finger lakes of western new york, we have several sites and portable courses scattered about. We choose a spot based on the wind and local fishing tournament schedule. In all cases, the same formula works.... plan the night before, put in at dark, and ski at sunrise. We usually get a couple hours before packing up and gone. When you can't get to the private lakes, portables are a good option for public water. With a few regulars, you can set in about 20 minutes and pack in about 30 minutes.
  12. Never never never give up.....
  13. 2014 S2...... ran it for 2 years so far. Barely a scuff. Love the speed skin. Amazing glide after wakes.
  14. Looks like fun @rodecon . How was the Reflex compared to the Vapor? Let's see a shot of the Franken boots on that ski!
  15. Grew up on a big public lake, life long free-skier. Finally got into course five years ago at age 41.... instant addiction! Wish I had started a lot younger. So 2016 ended at max speed 34 and starting to shorten. PB this year with lots of head room for next.
  16. I really like my Eagle dry suit. It breathes well and is quite tight along the legs for a bag suit. Don't let the front zipper fool you though, it still takes a buddy to do the final cinch down.
  17. @A_B I used straight boards and some manual clamps when drilling pilot holes and snugging down. Key is to not over tighten the lag screws to draw boards flush to brackets. You will strip the board. Let the boat weight do all the work, then go back under and snug them down. C'sunk carriage bolts from top may be able to draw boards all the way down but I would still snug the nuts underneath after the boat weight settles boards.
  18. Oh, and put some duct tape on your drill bit at the correct depth. You want blind holes from the bottom.
  19. Rebuilt mine this year. IMO just replace it all. I tried to just make minor repair and it was just not worth it. Use pressure treated 2x6. New carpet from overtons. Stainless staples. Leave bottom middle of board uncoverd for drying/venting. Clamp boards in place. Drill pilot holes. Stainless lag screws from bottom up. Snug up screws but don't try to draw boards all the way down!! Then put boat on, and let it settle. I put the boat on, snugged screws, then drove home 40 miles. Then snuggled a few days later before I moved it again. It does settle a bunch. While you are at it, check your wheel bearings, hydraulics for surge brakes or whatever brakes you have, and make sure tounge connects are all good. I know you all check lights and air pressure regularly

    Winterizing

All good stuff. Start a checklist this year, and revise it next year, etc... comment on sequence, which plugs go first/last, where to fill, how much fluid, every step in order. Makes life a lot easier. Keep the lists with your boat/engine manual so it is never lost.
  21. Our crew occasionally gets to ski private ponds, but many times we have to ski public water. Over the past two seasons we have skied a course in public water 54 mornings. That's 54 mornings of waking up at stupid:30, playing the wind, choosing location, putting the portable course in at dark, waiting for sunrise, waiting for steam to rise, dodging the fisherman, cottagers and jet skis.... all to get a few passes through the course before the water turns to complete crap. Oh yeah - and we have to limit our beer intake the night before because skiing dizzy sucks!! Now that should be proof we are committed to skiing.
  22. We have a portable in Keuka as well. Have to ski stupid early to get good water. PM us if in the area.
  23. I'll second everything @nleuth has to say. A great format. Most of our team (ROC City) is new to the tournament scene and we loved it. With the handicap weeks, three of our six members scored in top five on individual weeks! So as we struggle to get to max speeds and shorten lines, we are still getting points. Lots of fun. Let's get some more teams next year!

    another otf

"Trick" was a correction to previous post. It is a trick to find the right size though. Essentially you should not be able to move your foot in any lateral direction when standing and loading the ski. Try out different sizes before ever tightening the bungies.
