  1. What do people think about this Masterline bag, especially if travelling?
  2. @Horton - I'm wondering if @FWinter has followed up with you on your "triple or nothing. Anyone but Lewis is my bet."
  3. @Orlando76 first of all, best wishes for the recovery from your accident. Your story on the other thread is really tough to read. As for your question in this thread, I don't quite follow you. Your accident happened because your front foot stayed in while the back foot came out of your double boot set up, correct? How would an HRT style back binding help?
  4. one week later, water was 1C warmer at 12.5C (54.5F), but the air was 7.5C (45.5F). It might have been the last time for this season...
  5. 11.5C water temperature, 12C air temperature today. I'll let the translation into Fahrenheit degrees as an easy exercise for the reader (that's what all my math books used to say... ) @"Keith Menard" do you read me??
  6. @BraceMaker I've been thinking about the same concept. Some sort of a cart with a pylon mounted on it would be pulled on rails by a cable loop (similar the cable of a ski gondola) and you are all set. The rails and the cart would need to be pretty strong to sustain the pulls of a short line skier without collapsing... Easy!
  7. Hmm, @"Keith Menard" , after the American Revolution and all the break up from the British empire, how can "Imperial" be still acceptable to use??
  8. Yes, you are correct. Watch the repair video to see how to do it. I have a 2018 Vapor boot and the laces did break once. The hardest part of the repair was threading the new string through the very tight eyelets of the boot and getting the correct pattern. I had to use a sewing needle and a thimble from my wife.
  9. This morning at 10am we started with water at 59F, measured at the dock with a digital thermometer. A couple of hours later it climbed to 60F. Air temp was high 40's and later it was mid 50's. We hope to ski at least for another couple of weekends and then we'll have to wait until spring. Or head somewhere warmer!
  10. I tried the new Vapor 2019 last week (thank you, @brooks ). As I compare it to my 2016 Vapor, even with my still very limited slalom skills, it felt very zippy, stable and forgiving. Simply awesome. I had my own boots mounted on it, so the only difference was the ski.
  11. Is a caliper really needed for this instead of simply eyeballing it? How sensitive is the ski response to a boot rotation of a few degrees? And going in the opposite direction of staying neutral, what effects do you get (or would you be looking to get) with a rotation set on purpose?
  12. The method of coiling a rope by letting it fall into a figure 8 in one’s hand is what I learned ages ago when I started rock climbing and mountaineering. Using your neck instead of your hand (you let the rope fall off your shoulders as you loop it behind the neck) makes it easier to coil when dealing with 50 or 60 meter ropes (that’s 165 - 200 feet for those who still use antiquated units of measure :) ). You don’t want twisted ropes when climbing. Instead coiling with a twist apparently is what is used in show skiing. We had a discussion at our ski club about this: ballet lines pay out the ropes from the dock and the coils avoid snags. For slaloming it’s the opposite, like in climbing.
  13. I love my Vapor. My ski buddy @"Keith Menard" got one too after he tried mine. They look good together!
  14. Which start are you more comfortable with? Putting your back foot in the RTP or dragging your right leg? For me, dragging the back leg never worked. I am LFF and use RTP. I get in a ball, press my left toes down (like on a gas pedal) and after the boat starts pulling, I wait patiently for the ski to plane over the water.
  15. Awesome! Among many other slalom videos, of her is one of my all times favourites.
  16. @Andycampbell13 gopro with a chest strap?
  17. @jjackkrash take the back boot off and measure from the vertical projection of the front boot back on the ski to the tail of the ski.
  18. Ouch, that sucks. Get better soon. This sport is fun, but there is risk. A ski buddy just morning had an OTF and hit the ski with the head. Luckily two stitches later he is as good as new.
  19. @thager - I totally agree. Either there is evidence, or it's just hearsay. This whole thread started with vague premises and only on page 4 something about the PVC pipes possibly being bent came out. Unless I missed it, I still haven't seen anyone confirming what kind of slalom course they have at the site in question. I'm going to go read something about the World Cup or F1...
  20. From time to time I noticed that in the lower right they show a gauge that seems to measure the force applied to the rope as a skier loads it through the course. For instance, around the 1:26:46 mark of today (saturday) recording, I saw ~200 kg. How high can that load go? Impressive!
  21. Related to the question from @GlassJunkie, any thoughts, comments on how the single boot OB4 system compares to the MOB system? They seem to be based on the same principle. Does the OB4 system require to grind the back on the boot like the MOB system does?
