  1. @Stevie Boy I am curious why you recommend Pro Gear Gloves but not kevlar. I just bought a pair of Radar Ergo-K gloves. You would have bought something else? I usually ski only on weekends, so I'm thinking my hands should have time to recover...
  2. After talking to the driver (if not one of the usual ones), gear, hit it. And the driver doesn't say anything back: I am not sure how useful it would be, given that if something changes, I'd let go of the handle. Some of the things other people say really cracked me up!
  3. I want one!!! Is it really true that the insert pattern on the Senate is different from the Vapor, as @gmut says?
  4. I'm really envious now... Not so much for thr Reflex binding (that too, though), but for the mirror like water throughout Horton's video! I rarely see water that glassy on the public lake where I normally ski, even when I am there at 5am!
  5. Is there going to be a replay available somewhere?
  6. Is there going to be a replay available?
  7. I already skied twice this year in MA, plus once in FL.
  8. @skialex I bought is this iGaging caliper. If you have it too, I'd like to hear how it stacks up against the others. Thanks.
  9. @skialex is one of your calipers the iGaging ABSOLUTE ORIGIN ? (see link to Amazon in the comment from @Bruce_Butterfield above). That's the caliper I bought last October and, given it's my only caliper, I'd like to hear your opinion on how much trust I can have on its readings.
  10. I too bought the same caliper that @Bruce_Butterfield mentions. It works great. I was able to check the "factory setting" of my Radar Senate. DTF in particular was way off...
  11. All the skiing was at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach? Sweet!
  12. I was in the Palm Beach area last week. I skied with Bobby Pine at LTS Wake (http://www.ltswake.com/) and had a great time. Two slalom courses on 2 lakes, one north-south, the other east-west. I looked at Chet Raley's site and would have loved to ski there, but he didn't have a spot available and you need to bring your own ski.
  13. It seems that @Horton has decided to renew these domains for another year. Expiration Date: 07-jan-2017
  14. I am really hopeful that GUT will help me progress and make me succeed at running the course in 2016. I am an "analytical" person and I have enjoyed all the "technical" articles on this site. GUT promises to be the next level. Bring it on!
  15. Alright, I don't have a Goode Ski and I don't want cheaply made, so a slot caliper is out. Come to think of it, this idea of a slot caliper seems a bit of a gimmick: why can't you use a normal caliper to take a depth measure, if the caliper comes with the depth stick on the right? The Mitutoyo ones have it, for instance. Also, is the Radar 8" Digital Slide Caliper any good? It sells for considerably less than the cheapest Mitutoyo...
  16. Webster Lake is where I normally ski... @ALPJr, your friend with the boat wouldn't happen to be Randy, would it? I'm new on this forum, so it's interesting to find other ballers who I may have already met. I'd also be interested in meeting local ballers like you, @Chef23, @Than_Bogan ...

    New boat

@Roger, @Than_Bogan, that was exactly the point of my comment with its double meaning... :) And, yes, enough of nerdy stuff, and back to commenting on your boat. It's beautiful!

@Roger, with the 4 digits don't you get 10000 possibilities?
  19. I ordered my copy of the book - can't wait for it to arrive. @SkiJay, after reading the article on your Fin Whispering site about all skiers owning a caliper, I have a few questions: is David Dipol slot caliper (slotcaliper.com/, reviewed here at BOS) the same as the one for sale at Goode's site? how do you convert measurements taken with a normal caliper to those taken with a slot caliper? Between a normal caliper and a slot caliper, I'm thinking I should buy a slot caliper, given its better accuracy. Should I consider other factors before pulling the trigger? for a Radar Senate ski, I found Matt Rini's fin settings, but where can I find Radar's factory settings? Looking forward to reading the book!!
  20. Nice! Just curious, where in New England is this? I too skied on Saturday morning in Massachusetts, but not on Sunday!
  21. What's the difference between Radar Vector bindings with Feather frame vs with Aluminum frame? More rigidity? Better durability?
  22. I don't know how far away it would be for you, but Sun Sports in Naples, Maine lets you try skis before you buy them.
  23. @Horton, you say "My recipe for safety is trying to ski smooth and understanding what ever binding system you are using. If you cannot get out of your bindings without loosening or unbuckling you are going to get hurt sooner or later." So for a new slalomer like me who is catching 2-3 balls at 15 off 29 mph and is skiing on borrowed old equipment from the local ski club (Connelly Elite or HO CDX-1), is it better to "invest" in learning to ski smooth with what I have and safety is ok? Or should I also look into getting a modern ski and bindings for extra safety? My friends at the club tell me that at my level I should concentrate on learning to ski the course smoothly first and wait on any purchase. Thoughts?
  24. @Than_Bogan, the plain vanilla (and old) equipment I've been using at my club so far is an HO CDX-1 with non-adjustable HO Pro-Wraps. It's a struggle to get it on, but my foot has come off in a couple of occasions. I'm a real beginner (3 bouys, 15 off at 29 mph so far). @Horton, if I understand correctly what you say, if I were to step up to say a Radar Senate with Vector bindings (that is, a modern era ski) I would not necessarily be safer than now if the laces are too tight. It seems I can leave Reflex or OB4 or any of these releaseable systems to amazing experts like you guys. Something to aspire to! :)
