  1. So I am one of the fellow folks on here that normally never used my transom straps. I don't tow far (~30 miles each way). However a month ago I was involved in an accident with my trailer. No damage to the boat but I did have one of my transom straps on. The strap broke clean in half and my boat did jump in the air. Luckily it did stay centered and not land up on one of the wheel wells. I would say The accident would be equivalent to running over maybe a 4x4 at 25 mph. It doesn't seem like much but the force of a boat being thrust upwards quickly was pretty surprising. I did order a set of ratchet tie down straps for convenience which I will now use every time I tow. My boat is a Nautique 196 and I also use the platform brackets. Also to note in the above situation no damage was done to the platform bracket in the breaking of the strap.
  2. The end of Horton's clips remind me of Talladega nights every time.
  3. Yeh I am on the weight limit (155#) of a 65/66 and I am on an older 65" prophecy. I wish I would have gotten a 66.
  4. Wish it was a 66" Know anyone looking to unload a 66" GT? Classifieds link 67" GT
  5. We had an interclub fun tournament this past Saturday and threw in a 3rd round for anyone that wanted to try and use an old ski. We had an older (80's era) Kidder with some decent KD bindings (mid-late 90s) . Only a few of us skied but it was quite fun and would be a lot of fun to try it more often. I skied 28 mph and got 2 @-32. I think with a few practice sets I could get some shots at -35.
  6. Is there a location planned for 2018 regionals?
  7. @Rob good point on picking up a skier. Not to take this off topic but is there a best practice on returning to pick up a possibly insured skier? I know whenever someone takes a bad fall the boat always rushes back to get them. In doing so it also throws a wake. In a crash that could result in back or neck damage is this really the best approach or is it better to idle back (assuming a skier is not face down)? My concern would be similar to a car accident that someone might have back or neck pain that you want to reduce the movement and throwing a wake right at a skier could potentially cause damage.
  8. Thanks @UWSkier . I already have enough acronyms to keep track at work. Hard to know whats going on in the video game world.
  9. I have never done anything VR related so forgive my ignorance. But given this involves moving a high rate of speed would a VR goggle impead what a skier/driver can actually see? IE, can they still see through the goggles and view the current landscape/conditions and it just places a "course" in through the goggles? I ask because I think I have seen youtube videos of people doing VR stuff and crashing into real life objects that they dont see. Obviously we wouldn't want this on the water where someone could hit a branch, come to close to shore, not see a roller etc.
  10. How do the World Games work in terms of who can ski? Is it invitational? I noticed no US skiers in the Men's or Women's waterki events.
  11. @klindy you look correct. According to the results page Women's Slalom: 1. Geena Krueger 2. Clementine Lucine 3. Kate Adriaensen
  12. Is there a specific area of the country where you want (or do NOT) want to live? Where might your career take you? As @LoopSki said the Northern CA has a significant amount of access to private lakes and ski courses. But it can be pricey (even in Sacramento) compared to other areas in the country.
  13. Huge bummer. I saw your boat a few years ago back when I was looking to buy but the cost of shipping was hard to beat and I am in NorCal. I like the reverse gelcoat and love the 94 MC.
  14. I drop always. Even if I fall I will drop at the end to let the rollers settle. The deep water start is no problem. Plus one end is pretty narrow and my wife wouldn't want to spin the boat there anyways and the other end gets really bad backwash at the gates and into 1 ball.
  15. I used to ski tournaments a lot (~10-12/yr as a junior and into collegiate) but haven't skied a tournament since my last college event. I am in Sacramento so there is no shortage of tournaments in the area with multiple options on any given weekend. I got bored with the traditional tournament format and after skiing college and have really had no interest to go back. The biggest barrier to get me back is time and what I get out of skiing a tournament. I really don't have all day to sit around and take 2 rides. Usually on the weekends we can get a few hours in before any one of the many things going on during the weekend. I have a young family who enjoys being at the lake but that includes my wife skiing (1/2 way to making the course) and now my 3 year old riding up and down the lake on her inflatable ski and swimming around. I feel like if I go ski a tournament, that is time they have to spend off the water which is NOT what I want.
  16. No I don't have bindings I was just saying your current bindings might fit on the new to you ski. I can give you approximate dimensions from my 2013 prophecy of the boot binding holes so you can see if your existing boots will just match right up.
  17. What bindings do you have? My Connelly has a pretty standard bolt pattern.
  18. Are you able to view the gas tank? On our much older prostars or my nautique I can move one of the carpeted barriers and just peak at the gas tank. Always a nice quick way to check to see if you have fuel.
  19. Never skied a Vapor but I am on a 2014 Prophecy and I really like it after coming off a D3. I agree with Eric it rides a little low in the tail but after always blowing the tail on my D3 this feels way more stable at the finish of my turn. What size ski are you looking for?
  20. @"Keith Menard" looks like you are right they are offered in the US... :)
