  1. As a guy who manufactures in Canada, I love seeing when products are actually made in North America, not just something constructed overseas and boxed in North America with a "made in usa" or "made in canada" slapped on the box. I will definitely be looking at Masterline next time I need a new rope/handle.
  2. @brooks Which other boards did you ride rope less behind the prostar?
  3. @jimmyjamesbrown Where are you located? I'm assuming you are in Quebec, during my shopping for boats over the last few years I have found the most selection in Canada to be in QC or ON. I was looking for something very similar to you and found a 01 Sunsetter lxi last year in BC (I am in AB) that I pulled the trigger on. There were lots of older direct drives that were coming up out east for good prices, low to mid 20s Cdn. Be patient and search kijiji/autotrader all the time as spring gets going people will start listing their boats. Even post a "looking for" ad and you might get lucky.
  4. @DangerBoy Awesome! Wildrose bay is beautiful. We often head across the lake and check out the rope swing then cruise along the lake and check out the cabins, I'm sure we have lusted over yours. I own/run the Alberta Boot Company in Calgary so leading up to and during the Calgary Stampede are my busiest days of the year. We don't head to the lake until thats over so we are usually there the last week of July and first week of August. That being said, any ballers want to trade a good slalom ski for Cowboy boots?
  5. @DangerBoy Where in Shuswap are you? I've stayed in St Ives for the last 5 summers and I find the water is great every morning for skiing till about 10 ish. On a side note, any courses on Shuswap that you know of?
  6. @FLeboeuf @96SNEFI Funny story about the 'crime' of towing without a spotter. A good family friend is a Provincial Judge and a few years ago had a case come in front of him where a defendant was charged with the crime of towing without a spotter. Our Judge friend owns a seadoo and pulled his kids on it all the time without a spotter, had no idea it was 'illegal'. Needless to say he excused the case and let the defendant off with a warning.
  7. Saw these classic slalom skis pop up on kijiji and thought I would share https://www.kijiji.ca/v-water-sport/red-deer/slalom-skis/1418476333
  8. @Than_Bogan Ditto, you need atleast a Mill to get a property on a lake around here, no home/shack/cottage included
  9. Yes, not a surf forum but home to a large majority of direct drive ski boat owners. Just wondering what surf boards fellow DD owners have had success with.
  10. Anyone on here have a good recommendation for wake surf boards for our smaller ski boat surf waves? I would like to go ropeless, no plans to get air or do to many tricks. Really just looking for a board to cruise on once we are too tired from skiing all morning. I currently have a 2015 Liquid Force Chase sixer, can almost go ropeless but I am looking at selling that and upgrading. For reference it looks like a Ronix Koal longboard will do the trick behind a prostar
  11. Thanks for the responses. Its a fun topic to debate when I'm still a good 2 months away from ice coming off the lake! One of the reasons I bought this boat was because it had a tower/bimini and I love the look of it. I hate the extended pylons and a tower just works so much better/plus adds board storage as well. Its not a dedicated ski boat as I also love to wakeboard and surf behind it too!
  12. I have a 2001 Malibu Sunsetter LXI, I really like the look of my boat but at the same time I love the classic look with 'Malibu' and 'Sunsetter LXI' decals along the hull and the 'official u.s open towboats' along the transom. If you were me would you stay naked or look for some decals to add? Pictures of the boat as it sits right now:
  13. Judging by my buddies photos I won't be skiing any time soon!
  14. Great watch, love the old skis, boats, hair and commentary! Any other great tournaments of the time please post them up!
  15. We never get fun stuff in Canada (west of Ontario anyways)
  16. Heading to the Calgary Boat show tonight. Always feel like a kid in a candy store checking out all the new boats!
  17. @Horton I knew I was gonna get a laugh from that one haha
  18. I've only ever owned HO skis but my favourite brand is Radar which is weird. I will probably be going Radar for my next ski. Both my wife and I are on HOs which we both like though.
  19. +1 for sunsetter. My 2001 SS LXI is an amazing machine.
  20. For me I ski with my right foot in front, I am right handed, I kick a ball with my right foot, Any board sports I go left foot forward (wakeboard, surf, skateboard, snowboard) Hockey I shoot right, I golf right and I bat right. I also play with my right hand for racquet sports. The other one that is interesting is when biking (hitting jumps, riding DH or just coasting) I feel more comfortable with my left foot forward and my right foot back.
  21. @96SNEFI in hockey the hand lower down on the stick determines which way you shoot. If your left hand is lower down and your right is on the end of the stick you would shoot left.
  22. The Calgary Boat show is Feb 7-10. I'm looking forward to going again this year. Always fun to crawl around the new boats and pretend I have way more money than I actually do haha
  23. Cayenne Turbo. You're welcome.
  24. I have the same sentiments as @UWSkier Bought my 01 Sunsetter lxi this past spring, absolutely amazing boat. Also surprised to see the majority of ballers boats fall into this category
