  1. @Ali Would love to see Dane, Adam, or Brian break through and walk away with top spot on this one.
  2. He Is the, "Highest scoring overall skier of all time" at this time. Period! Insanely talented athlete. Time will tell, in regards to the question above.
  3. You aren't going to like the price of a replacement manifold, I can assure you of that. They all corrode from the inside out. I replaced 1 side on my 2012 MC with Ilmor 5.7. The part was $2800 for just the one manifold, not including adapter, o2 sensors, gasket, or labor.
  4. @Deanoski Correct, 67", as recommended by Goode.
  5. @bparson I like the 9970 more than the XTR. I'm on a 67", weight 172, and ski 34 mph. I rode several traditionally constructed XTR's since the models release in '17, and also rode an XTR cc for 1 month last fall. I honestly didn't notice a whole lot of difference in how the XTR and XTR cc felt. My 9970 is set up to the exact specs that Goode recommends. This has always worked for me with the many Goodes I have owned. The ski is very sensitive to wing angle adjustments, and I'd made these adjustments due to water temp changes. Cold NH water feels fast in the spring, so I had adjusted the fin to 10 at that time. Goode recommends 9.5 +/- .5. Currently at 9.5. The 9970 cc rides much more level and not as tip high as I felt and also see with most others riding the XTR. Far less drag and work to get wide as compared to the XTR. It turns a sharp but smooth off side that is predictable. For the onside, I can easily adjust the radius of the turn as needed on the fly, and it always finishes well. This ski is great in less than perfect conditions, that being head/tail, light chop, or backwash. It also performs flawlessly when in panic mode. Perhaps this is because the lower side wall making it ride deeper. That said, riding deeper is not at the expense of speed, on the contrary. I judge a ski by how it feels, and not how many buoys I run out of the box. Those come when a ski is a good fit. Speaking for my own skiing currently, it's very consistent. I am somewhat limited to 4 sets weekly, and when I increase that, my body pushes back. I need to ski 6-7 sets weekly to break through to the level that I used to ski at. No fault of the ski. The 9970 is a great fit for me.
  6. @DP70 I was on the CC Promo Team in 1996 and bought this boat for myself, and kept it for many years. That year, it was used as the primary tow boat for the Easter Regionals held in Avon CT that year. It was so popular at that tournament that they put 40 hrs on it. The chief driver said that it was the best driving boat he had ever driven. I personally pulled Jamie Beauchene through many -38 & -39 off passes with it, hand driving. I did install Accu-Ski speed control after owning it for a few years. I have owned many new boats from several manufacturers. It was the best overall boat I have ever owned. It had the GT-40 and a 3 blade prop. It was the fastest boat out of the hole and top end of 50 MPH, even compared to many of the new boats. Boats were considerably lighter back then. If you are a competitive skier, it would be too outdated, but it was a great boat in it's day.
  7. @AndyP Consider contacting Craig Warner at NECC in Gonic NH. He was a Correctcraft Deal since the 60's. He is the most knowledgeable person in NH regarding the older Nautiques. He is a relative of the Meloon family 603-332-5739.
  8. Addendum to my Oct 20 post about the Goode 9970cc interest. I ended up buying one about a month ago. Still early season in NH, but up to -32 @ 34mph is so much easier than the XTR. Effortless skiing and far less drag and work than the XTR. The perspective from those in the boat, "You don't even look like you are trying". It's interesting that with what appears to be far less surface area (much narrower ski), it can be so much faster.
  9. That's a great price considering that the exhaust manifolds alone cost $2400 apiece.
  10. My lake in NH is 14" of ice. Drove to Poland Maine to help a buddy drop blocks through the ice yesterday for a course. 20 bar on chainsaw, and wasn't long enough in many places. I parked my Ram 2500 on the lake.
  11. That Obrien G3 was circa 1995 I think. It had the adjustable aluminum flex plates and inside radius side cut forward of the bindings. It was the best onside turning ski I had tried at that time, but turned uncontrollably on the offside for me. I smashed my face severely on the tip and shattered nose and sinus on one side. I have a scan of my face I will share if I can find it. Ended up having surgery to fix everything 12 years later. That ski also had a very high profile fin clamp with plastic end caps that never stayed in. A guy who was skiing with me, on his G3, fell, back foot came out, and slid across the front of the fin clamp. It sheared all of the fleshy part off the outer part of his foot. Had to have emergency surgery for that one. Bottom line, that ski was a menace!
  12. Replacing every piece of my old worn out gear to include a new faster ski, pro coaching, and getting a new MC if MC will produce S&S retro graphics for me ;) Plenty of technique tweaks in my future as well.
  13. Mitt Romney and his family do have a place on Lake Winnipesaukee as mentioned earlier. He's got a 3 bay boathouse on South Bay. He was a member of the Abenaki Ski Club based in Back Bay, Wolfeboro NH. There is what appears to be a Malibu parked in it. Back Bay was an alternate ski site for Jamie Beauchesne.
  14. 5 Years, Then they sell yards of material only.
  15. I have 900 HRS on my 2012 Prostar, and the rudder has become sloppy with a fair amount of side to side movement when wiggling it from under the boat on the trailer. I would gather that the rudder port and rudder contact areas are worn. I intend to replace both, along with the steering cable and tiller arm bolt while I'm at it. Can anyone tell me if the 2021 MC parts are retrofittable? @Jody_Seal
  16. @jpwhit I like that puller design. Where did you get it?
  17. @Than_Bogan Agreed, Shep is a great guy. Fun to have in the boat too. -32 for him next year.
  18. @bobbymcdaniel822 My Dad had 2 pair from the late 60s. One pair same as pictured and another smaller pair for kids (me).
  19. @Edmund I had looked into having a simple cover made for my swim platform and transom that would attach to the rear of the existing mooring cover and sort of just hook the rear edge of the platform. I spoke with a guy who makes boat covers. He suggested a tightly woven mesh fabric that would protect it from the sun, but breathe, and enable the platform to dry. Otherwise it would get moldy. I would have had it made, but the guy quoted me a ridiculously high price. Let me know if you find a reasonable source and price.
  20. Anyone have any feedback on the changes and performance between the 2020 (all grey) vs the new 2021?
  21. @Than_Bogan hahaha, I would also need a trip to Fla to test it as well. My favorite skis of all time, @36-9300 and 34-9700.
  22. I am very anxious to hear more about the 9970! I loved the early Goode models and owned the 9100, 9200, 9300, 9500, 9700. The 91,93,& 97 were my favorites. My current ride is a very tired '17 XTR. I recently tested C-75, XTR cc, D3 ion, and Vapor. The Radar was the winner for me. But I can't proceed until I ride (unlikely this year, I'm in NH) or read good reviews from the masses on the 9970.
  23. As @Bdecker stated, lots of testing going on with what little time we have left here in southern NH, among quite a few skiers. I'm a long time Goode skier who just retired a VERY tired 2017 XTR. Tested a Denali. Cool ski with lots of potential, just not a fit for me. Tried a new XTR CC that's too big for me at 68", but skied well on it. Tested a D3 Ion, also 68" and too big for me, and that didn't work at all for me. @Bdecker loaned me his 2020 Radar Vapor, and I dialed in immediately, with every pass feeling better. Not sure he will see that ski again until the surface of the lake gets hard ;)
  24. I've been skiing on my ski partner's 68 XTR Carbon core that he cast aside temporarily as he wasn't getting dialed in fast enough for an up coming tourney. I'm 175# and ski on an older XTR 67". I'm running 10 degrees of wing on the 68" CC to compensate for it being bigger than recommended for my weight. Ski feels great. Testing other skis right now so as to pick something to start '21 on. If nothing else stands out, I'll go with a 67" Goode XTR CC to replace my '17 XTR that feels lifeless(See article, "Let's talk about flex")
