  1. Crazy there isn't more buzz about this feat. The best score for a woman ever, and better than almost any man. No video yet??
  2. After paying more than I was comfortable with for an oil filter for my 5.7 Ilmor, I emailed Ilmor engineers and got a phone call back. This IS NOT a GM filter for this engine, as it is mounted remotely, and not on the block. They explained to me that it is a high end product for a high end performance engine. He told me not to use anything else. He had nothing to gain by up-selling, and I felt he was knowledgeable and honest. I only use the Ilmor filter. If I can't get to the dealer, I have them ship me 2 years worth to distribute the shipping cost. BTW, the price per filter has gone down substantially since my first boat with the Ilmor. I have reached out to the engineers several times with other questions, as I perform 90% of repairs myself, and they couldn't be more helpful. The Ilmor and the Mastercraft product are top notch in every regard.
  3. @SkiJay I currently ski on a Goode XTR which I'm very happy with. I run stock recommended settings for both fin and bindings and always have with all Goodes I've been on. I run 35 @ 34 consistently once I'm up to speed (NH skier). I'm fairly symmetrical on both sides. I wouldn't change a thing on my off side, but wouldn't mind a slightly tighter radius onside, and more speed behind the boat on both sides would be an added bonus. I don't want to screw up my off side turn. Recommendations if I try WF? Also, at $300, any return policy?
  4. The MASTERCRAFT vest is the best! It never has fuel gauge issues, tracks really well, plenty of power, and has a flat wake;)
  5. To put marine engine hours in perspective, my '16 Ram 2500 6.4L has 2200Hrs and 75000 miles. 250 of those hours are at idle, similar to ski boats. Boat engines are essentially marinized truck engines which are built for torque and durability. Modern V8 engines are built to withstand over 200 K miles without much wear and tear. One could say that boats are used for all stop and go under load, but this is taken into consideration by the design engineers. Also, boat engines are inhaling very clean air vs vehicles used on a roadway, and boat engines run a hell of a lot cooler as well. When I'm in Ft Lauderdale, I ski over at McGinnis' . They once had a CC 200 with 6500 hours, 4500 on the original engine. Boat ran perfectly. They have since upgraded. Bottom line, if it's been cared for, even just reasonably, engine hours are not a concern.
  6. I use my O'Neil Fluid drysuit in NH. Have used it in 35f water/40f degree air. Very warm and relatively nonrestrictive for preseason skiing. I had another O'Neil drysuit for 20 years prior to this one. No other manufacturer is going to match that durability. Had a zipper issue when my old one was 5 years old. O'Neil fixed it at no cost to me. Great company to deal with.
  7. I'm guessing USAWS might have some answers for us? I have always worried about this, as I too have a privately owned course on a semi-private lake.
  8. Than_Bogan You'd have to explain the -6" comment. I have a photo of that crazy triangular tunnel on my old phone.
  9. A number of years ago, I bought a used boat lift from a guy in Georges Mills. There is a small lake on the north side of Sunapee called Otter Pond. I skied the course there. Not sure if Otter is connected by a channel to Sunapee. The boat lift was in an offshoot of Otter Pond that was dug for its sand for Rt 89. The guy I bought the lift from had hopes of further excavating this 800' sandy shore pond for a semi-private ski site. He unfortunately died suddenly before this came to fruition.
  10. Funny clip, but I totally disagree with the above statement. Mental toughness is part of the game as well as skill. One needs to train both aspects to attain peak performance for when it counts.
  11. @Alberto Soares , please keep me posted once you have the opportunity to to ski a few sets with it. Thanks!
  12. Does anyone who runs mid to deep shortline have any experience and feedback to offer for running Denali's CG fin in a Goode XTR? A few of the guys I ski with are using this fin with good results in a Radar and D3. If so, what are the fin setting numbers you have tried?
  13. Thager that was a 95ish MC. That was a fix to a stabilization issue along with retrofitable aft chine inserts. 2000 was a new hull design that was used until 2013 I believe.
  14. I'm PCM. So, not sure how the finals of the Goode contest are being figured. Is the the top single round score between RJ and DM at th Cal pro-am, or the score each attains in the finals? Dave scored 1.5 @ 41 in an early round, but bombed in the finals with 1 @ 38. Round 2 of OW is underway now.
  15. In addition to being a great skier and hell of a good guy, Mike is a huge contributor to the sport, being a long time rated driver and official. He also hosts the annual New England Slalom Championship and has for 30 years.
  16. My 2012 MC with 5.7 has been through 3 circ pumps, 2 raw water pumps, replaced non-stainless freeze plugs in manifold due to corrosion, and watch out for the 2 raw water intake hoses, for early 2012 production boats, the inner coil spring that keeps them from collapsing under suction were not stainless. Mine corroded and got sucking into the engine. Ilmor changed the quality of these poorly made components late model 2012. My old 2011 that I had sold to a buddy who keeps that boat on a different lake had all of the same issues with that boat.
  17. I'm guessing your boat is a '97. I worked on one that was ground like yours. Gain a bit of load, but was sloppy. I replaced the rudder. Drove like a brand new boat. Save yourself from wasting time, just swap it out.
  18. I buy my gloves one size too small, soak them submerged in water before wearing them for the first time for 24 hrs. Then I stretch them onto my hands, and they stretch to the perfect size. They fit like a glove! I used the Accurate ones for years, and when my stock was gone, tried Radar Boa inside out with my In-Tow 1.06. Perfect match. I don't use Kevlar, as my hands are paws ;)
  19. I have T-Factors, and have the same issue with front, even with the proper middle screws. Where can I get the mikro-adjust, and is it made specifically for ski bindings? Also, my rear T-Factor was getting toed out every set, but I filled the forward holes with epoxy and drilled out where I like them, which is about 5 degrees off center. That worked.
  20. @Ed Brazil, #1 Pond in Sanford is still there, but the city felt the need to build a retaining wall down one side. Junk. The show skiers still do a show there, and last I knew, jump is there, but course is no longer. I helped install that course with you, as a water worker, prepping for '94 Eastern Regionals. Used to be a fun 2 day tournaments too, up until 15 years ago.
  21. Back in the mid to late nineties, I was skiing and driving a 3 rd slalom tournament in Natick, Ma. Sund was riding an early model Goode, that I believe he had just starting skiing on. He ran 38 in all 3 rounds. On a bet, the last round, he went out cold at 38 on his opener, and ran it so early and wide it was crazy. This was not one of those candy-ass man made sites, but a public lake with a cove closed off temporarily for the event. Bottom line, is that me and everyone else who was there went out and bought ourselves a Goode!
  22. I always taught my daughter, water skiing and snow skiing are perfect sports to simulate life. You need to be mentally tough to deal with anything that comes your way. Sometimes life tosses rollers at you, and sometimes you'll encounter glare ice on a 50 degree pitch. She deals with both quite nicely I'm proud to say. You get what you get, life isn't always fair. Was anyone at the US Open when it was held at Disney World? I was. I think it was 06,07, and 08(?) The conditions SUCKED! They had backwash, a 4 ball ball course, AND they held it in the dark!! The mentally toughest guy won. The last year it was there, the guy who won was far from the tallest, strongest, or most talented. It was none other than @Marcus Brown. He schooled the likes of Jamie B, and many other, "Giants". Legendary toughness!!!! The most important part is that there were thousands of spectators, ONLY ABOUT 25% WERE SKIERS. You tell me which type of location is better for our sport?
  23. Does anyone know if Drew Ross is still running his ski school over at the Isles of Lake Hancock? His website, www.drewrossskiacademy is no longer up.
