  1. @eleeski My Graviton is 2019 model. Picked it up last year on your guidance in fact! Sounds like that should be good for her. I'm sure she is going to pass my pathetic tricking ability by end of this summer. Good teaching/driving tips. Thanks!
  2. @Bruce_Butterfield excellent thanks I have a boom and a Reflex plate on the Graviton although I think my shell is going to be way too big for her. Swapping plates isn't too bad I guess.
  3. My daughter told me she wants to learn to trick this summer. Gear an approach questions for y'all I am a terrible trick skier but I like goofing around on it. I have a 43" Graviton. My daughter is pretty tiny for her age. Probably around 95 lbs. She got into 27mph last year in the course so she's getting along pretty well and advancing fast. Should I start her off on two or go straight to one. She has really good balance as a past gymnast. Maybe its better to start on 2 though??? What size? I'm assuming my 43" graviton is going to be too big for her even if I did figure out the binding.
  4. I find this picture very deceptive. It looks like a very nicely executed turn and body position but it looks late and narrow. Like it looks like the turn started at the ball. I'm guessing since its Manon though that it is not late and its just the perspective this angle gives you.
  5. I mean I need a haircut anyways and with all the barbers closed I might as well right? seems like one of those "what do you have to lose?" decisions. :D
  6. I think my program is going to be family free skiing only for the first couple of weeks. Glad I taught my wife how to drive last year. The almost 15 YO is coming along nicely too. Leave the course sitting in the muck for awhile longer. Keep it chill and just work on fundamentals. Honestly I probably could use a month of no course to start the season anyway. Maybe I can finally get out of that stupid compressed body position through the wake!
  7. @markn actually this is a case where history will NOT be able to tell if we over reacted. History will only show if we under reacted. If it’s done right it will 100% look and feel like an over reaction. That’s the unfortunate paradox.
  8. The other Corona thread is kind of all over the place so I wanted to start a new one with a little more focused question. Sorry if this got covered in the other thread somewhere and I missed it. We are about a week away from ice out up here in NH. Normally this is when I am getting fired up to ski. With our new world I’m now starting to question whether skiing needs to go on hold now too. While I appreciate all the social distancing at 38 off Instagram posts I’m starting to question it a bit. Friend is an Dr in Utah and completely lost his mind on me the other day when I mentioned going for a hike and a ski at a local ski area that is closed. His issue is the potential impact on medical facilities if I had gotten hurt. His take is that social distancing isn’t enough. His very strongly worded guidance was “stay home unless you need food, medicine, or medical help” period. No high risk activities of any kind. In fact he said we should be limiting driving cars right now for the same reason. My struggle with this is that getting outside and getting some exercise that is actually enjoyable is such a mental boost right now. I was so excited to be able to get out on the boat for an hour with the family to just exhale. My kids are such a mental mess from all the screens and indoor time. Now I don’t know. What are you all doing out there right now? Especially those down south that are skiing already? You planning to keep skiing? You shutting it down? Do I even take the boat out of storage? Or do I need to just avoid the temptation and leave it until we get to the other side of this mess. I can see both sides of this that’s why I’m struggling.
  9. Or maybe he's just a really terrible wanna be Pirate that didn't get the message about the type of vessel one typically might want to plunder.
  10. I'm with @Than_Bogan but in my brain I am alternating between pick up line and frat boy insult ... "Do you even lift bro?"
  11. Honestly the most appealing part for me would be sound reduction.
  12. Oh man ... looks like the jetski lands right on her head
  13. Last fall on a business trip I skied at Canyon Lake and Mission Bay. The folks I connected with were so awesome and I loved learning about the different communities that have developed around the sites. It got me thinking. I'd like to craft a personal "bucket list" style adventure for me to chase over the next "few" years. I see all these glorious ski sites on BOS and really fun ski communities. If I was to compile the most classic, interesting, or storied ski sites out there what would that list look like? What sites would you put on there? Radar Lake feels like its right up there BOS home base of course (assuming @Horton would have me) What's on your list? No limits here either. International is fine. My only requirement would be Slalom skiing. Ideally a course but I'd even consider open water if it was a really special spot.
  14. Wow I am now 100% convinced @Horton has a horrible job. This crew can debate anything. :D I just thought his setup was funny and looked super sketchy to me. Sarcasm does not translate to text. you guys are a trip
  15. I don't understand how Joel broke his ankle so badly at Worlds ... complete mystery. :D https://www.instagram.com/p/B7FtJd-hQqo/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
  16. I got a pair of Radar Engineer gloves for Christmas from a well meaning family member that thinks I have itty bitty hands. I can’t exchange them due to complicated but not particularly interesting family dynamics. Anyone in the opposite predicament? Want to trade me for a Medium. Long shot I know but just checking before I try to sell em. Drop me a DM if you are interested. Thanks
  17. @DW we will be in Alta then too fwiw. Alta Lodge 2/26 - 3/1.
  18. @Wish depends what you are looking for. If you are an accomplished alpine skier and the conditions are good there is no place on the east coast like Mad River Glen. However on a bad day it will be the worst conditions you will ever see anywhere on the planet. :) The terrain cannot be beat though. There are very few resort amenities though. It's as old school as it gets. Still rocks a Single chair. Nothing like downing a Sip of Sunshine in Starks pub after a day hammering Paradise and Fall line though. I'm partial to the ski areas in the Burlington VT area in general. Stowe, Sugarbush, Jay Peak are all great if you want more resort. In the past few years the time to ski VT has been early March. Used to be February but seems to be shifting later. We got a bunch of really great storms in late feb early march last year.

  20. @Horton totally ... I get it. I have this bad habit of freeskiing and getting way too aggressive. Need to learn how to flow more and stop fighting.
  21. Alta, Mad River Glen, Sugarbush, backcountry UT and VT
  22. I have been told this is one of my biggest problems. I don't consider myself some incredible athlete but I'm consistently told after skiing by people that I consider experts they are shocked that I am able to run the passes I run with the form I have. I feel like you would tell me to quit if you actually saw me ski @Horton . :) Problem is as I get older it's starting to leave a mark. Low back etc. I have to fix this before skiing just isn't a thing for me anymore. I really do need to get more free skiing in to break these horrible habits and reform new habits. sigh ... many moons until the ski comes back out.
  23. I'm just slightly ahead of you in the learning curve @Drasband. Got into 28 off at 34mph for the first time this past summer after getting back into skiing seriously about 4 years ago. I wholeheartedly agree that the Prostar is the best slalom wake for slower speeds and longer lines. However, last year when I was buying a new boat I ended up going with the an open bow Ski Nautique 200 for several reasons. - Its far far better boat in rough water. We use our boat on a public lake and use it for a lot more than just closed course slalom skiing. It's a family boat. The design aspects that make the SN have a worse wake at slow speeds and longer lines make it light years better for general lake use imo. Hydrogate, heavier, deeper attitude, pushes more water. It also feels more solid in terms of build to me. Thats pretty qualitative though. - Unlike a lot of folks we actually really like the saddle bag storage. When we go out on the lake for several hours of skiing (not in the course) with a pile of skis and people the storage is so great for keeping crap out of the way. - The coast guard plate says 9 passengers instead of 7. This is silly but our marine patrol on the lake is super annoying about crap like this. They will write you a ticket if you are over the person capacity even if you are under the weight. When we have guests up to the lake we regularly go out with 8 in the boat (4 adults, 4 kids). They gave me a ticket once in my Prostar 197 when I had the 4 adults and 4 super young kids even though we were well under the weight capacity. Do I wish I could own a Prostar AND a nice Pontoon boat for cruising? Definitely. That is however not an option for us right now. When the kids go to college I'll probably move to a Prostar or whatever the best of the best is at that time. If you are looking for a pure dedicated slalom machine that is the best of the best ... Prostar. If you want a fantastic slalom boat with the ability to flex and use for family time then I'd suggest looking at the Nautique 200 (the rebranded version of the same hull). It does lack the saddle bags but maybe you don't care about those.
  24. not sure if you mean painted or stickers. If stickers I use one of these and it works like a charm. https://www.amazon.com/FOSHIO-Scrapers-Contoured-Refillable-Application/dp/B076BBW1WM/ref=asc_df_B076BBW1WM/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309805457405&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14345119654383381464&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1018145&hvtargid=pla-570646761565&psc=1 blow dryer to warm them up a bit. scrape (slowly). then use Goo gone to remove remaining residue and wipe off with water.
