  1. Went out on the paddle board in drysuit this morning. The ice in the middle of the lake is still weight bearing! I got off the board and stood on it. Ugh
  2. Welp I'm ready to go regardless. Just got delivered from storage today. Come on Sun!
  3. @Than_Bogan fair point but I think I got my first ski in 3rd week of April last year. Not even close this year. maybe just a week or two late this year I guess
  4. Yeah the snow ski season was amazing this year in VT and NH. Still going strong And I expect the big resorts like Killington and Sugarbush to go into May this year. Got 38 days on the snow this year with a lot of powder days which is not the norm for around here. I am fully satisfied on the snow season and ready for the Lake!
  5. Man I think it's going to be a really late start to our season up here in NH. Killing me. This was the view from our "dock" (which isn't in yet) on Monday. Average ice out date since 1978 on our lake is 4/16. Latest ever was 5/4. Making me think I might need to get on a plane if this drags into May.
  6. Expanded metal mesh. Interesting. I think the ice would probably wreck it but maybe I just pull it out of the lake after I pull the boat for the season
  7. oh maybe its the Limited that was only feather. this one https://www.miamiskinautiques.com/Radar-Vector-LTD-Boa-HRTP-2018-p/rdr18-btrtp-vectorltd-b-181580.htm Last year I don't the regular had the boa... I don't think.
  8. Yes the Boa version only comes in the feather frame or did last year anyway. It has points that stick out the front. That’s the one I had to grind. I also had it on a Connelly GT so I had to grind the predrilled holes a bit to make it work. Yeah I totally mangled a pretty expensive RTP that turned out to be useless to me personally.
  9. @oldjeep I actually tried the boa regular RTP next and had some of the same issue but it was better. Still had to grind the plate but I could get close enough. The issue with the HRTP is that you can't start with your foot back but on the ski and then slam it forward. I like a pretty tight hold on the rtp strap. I skied on the boa rtp for like a month and then gave up on that too because of the thick foot bed and inability to attain a consistent foot location. I'm just better off with the basics I guess.
  10. I tried the Radar HRTP last summer and kind of hated it. I find with the HRTP I could not get my foot forward enough even after grinding the crap out of the plate and drilling new holes. Complete waste of money for me personally. Especially after I destroyed the plate for resale. :D Additionally I do a lot of dock starts especially early and late season. I found the HRTP was not ideal for this. If it was loose enough to jam my foot in after dock start it was too loose for skiing. If it was tight enough for skiing it was too tight to get in once on the water. I tried a bunch of stuff after that and ended up going back to the most basic Connelly rtp I could find. I think it kind of comes down to taste and style. Learned my lesson ... only cost me like $300 when all was said and done. :D
  11. Looks like that invisible structures grid stuff can't be submerged so you basically use that for the run in and then need something more substantial for actual submerged ramp portion. I can't do concrete. Need to keep this under the radar and thus building out the dams and forms to pour the concrete would be tough. I like the idea of something a little more "natural" looking too.
  12. this stuff might be easier to work with if I can find it locally https://soilretention.com/drivable-grass/do-it-yourself/product-info/
  13. Anyone ever build a boat ramp for super light personal use? I have some shoreline at the lake that is eroding and actually has shaped itself more or less into a boat ramp. Its actually totally usable right now for a small boat like our 13' whaler. Shoreline is too soft for the Nautique. I'm thinking of actually building it into something I could actually get the Nautique in and out of. Anyone done this before? I think 10feet width is probably fine ... what do you think minimum length I could get away with? I was thinking about using this stuff. https://www.flexamat.com/ Any other ideas? Is this a pipe dream?
  14. By the way for anyone reading this that skis in NH we have a little known, more restrictive version of this law on the books. If you are driving/skiing a competition ski boat with a wide angle mirror in an approved slalom course (permitted) you do not need a spotter in NH. Found out about this law from Marine Patrol last year. I had no idea. Immediately bought myself a set of 4 of these https://www.leadwake.com/collections/frontpage/products/25-lb-bag?variant=35497736336
  15. So the only thing I will say is that in 1998 I worked for Ford motor company. I had a friend who worked in power train engineering. We got into a debate at a bar one night about the reality of a mass produced electric car for main stream Automotive use. At the time the only electric cars were glorified golf carts with ranges of like 50 miles. He went through a back of the envelope calculation just like @DangerBoy His conclusion was that a viable electric car was unlikely to be a reality any time in the near future due to range, weight and price of batteries. Any of you guys see a Tesla model 3 on the road recently? I think I see 2-3 a day on my commute and there are 3 parked in our little office parking lot. I think I agree with @Horton its only a matter of time.
  16. https://www.torqeedo.com/us/en-us/products/inboards Someone less lazy than me needs to do the math on torque requirements and battery life. Potential for future electric ski boat? ... 3-Event not Surf.
  17. @SkiJay Will you provide suggested "stock" settings for various skis when you start delivering these? I'm kind of curious how DFT will be measured. I imagine the settings could be vastly different than a stock fin? perhaps?
  18. I'd love to see some "more mature pros" as well. Men's and Women's 3 and 4 for instance. I can envision a nice library of videos that would be searchable by a variety of tags. eg. Men's 3, RFF, RTP, 34 mph, two handed gate that would be amazing
  19. Honestly just the simple packaging benefit alone would be enormous. Not having an engine box sitting in the middle of boat would be huge! This is the one thing that blows me away every time I look at a Tesla. How efficient it is with space from interior space to the storage in the "frunk" etc. Also the noise reduction would be a big benefit in my opinion. It's not about being green and/or saving money. It's about building something better.
  20. Less than 20 hours on the new SN 200 this past summer and my wife put it into a sandbar. So now I have a spare.
  21. One last free ski before we hit the mountains and the frozen stuff for the next 5 months. Water temp at 38 degrees, air about 42, couple inches of snow on the ground. My ski partner is a lot tougher/dumber than me. I went full dry suit. He just decided to not go in the water. :)
  22. 6 sets in 3 days at Jodi's in FL 11/10 through 11/12 All 22 off with Jodi, Frank and Chimmey busting my chops every pass about all of my horrible habits they were trying to break. Board shorts and Heater top. It was awesome Can you spot the sweet waist break followed by hip drop about to happen? Probably will ski in NH this weekend after the snowstorm clears out and if the water is calm. Drysuit, booties, hat, double nitrile gloves, and only dock starts :)
