  1. @NewStarts Don't push against your legs, keep your knees tucked, keep seated on the skis. It's all saying the same thing in different ways (everyone visualizes differently) to keep you in that position to help roll you up on the skis. As for forum intent and rules, I was just making a comment based on other recent thread decisions. It's up to the admin.
  2. Every piece of advice seems to be responded to with, "I'm doing that already." There has to be something you are not doing because every bit of body position has been covered by this thread. I'm surprised @Horton hasn't closed the thread down for not being course skiing specific (not a joke, being serious).
  3. It's difficult to see exactly what happens in those videos. It really looks like you are not really keeping your knees bent up towards your chest and sitting on the back of the skis. This is evident by how much the skis are wobbling around and that you get pulled over right away. Really focus on keeping your knees to your chest and sitting on the back of the skis as the boat pulls you up. A high line load means the skies are plowing instead of planing.
  4. News articles confirm they want to sell to someone who will keep the business going.
  5. I happened to be at a lake shop that has a Follow and the Hyperlite branded HO Rebel. Figured why not try them on for a size comparison. The medium Follow was okay around the chest but not tight enough at the bottom, it would definitely flip up on me. The medium HO was better in both chest and waste but the bottom V shape is such that it seems like it would easily flip up there. The HO would probably be fine but I think there have to be better options. We will see…
  6. Medium since I prefer a tight fit and I will go direct.
  7. Just so there’s no misunderstanding, Thomas sent me an email with recommendation this morning. Good to go.
  8. Everyone get the blue steel or velocity stokes? Not sure if medium or large. For reference I have a Radar with that plasticy coating, a medium was tight new but sloppy within a season.
  9. @skibrain I sent stokes a message on Friday and am waiting on a response.
  10. @jedgell I am leaning towards the Stokes but am not sure if they are long enough or if I’d be medium or large for that snug course fit. I asked here because someone may have a better idea for the tall thin guy options.
  11. Time for a new comp vest. I know this has been discussed and brands like Stokes and Eagle are commonly recommended. I am 6 foot 4 inches and only 180 pounds with a 39 inch chest, so tall and thin. Can anyone recommend a good comp vest for my body type? I like a tighter fit and need a bit more flotation, my body sinks easily. I did try the O’Neil Slasher medium tall. First one I tries I couldn’t get the zipper to even start it was so tight and second one of the same size was so loose that the upper half wasn’t even touching me. Seems there are manufacturing issues these days.
  12. With fuel management system active, fill to the top, you can see when full by pulling the rear storage bin on either side. Once full, turn on key, go to the fuel management system screen, tell it the tank is full. From then on just tell it when you add gas and how much. Not hard and it will work. I still hate that system over old floats, needless complication.
  13. Listening to this, I really wish they would post a video to go with many of these episodes. They could provide examples of what to and not to do based on what is said. So often I am really working to picture what is being said.
  14. Connelly V is another great option. Just go to ski-it-again.com and pick up a used ski for a good price. At your use case, a used option is perfect.
  15. If you want a fun time at the lake behind an IO, don’t get an Omega Max or other high level ski. The mid level Omni or Senate are good but you don’t need that nice of a ski for what you are doing. IOs are tough to ski behind because their acceleration out of the hole is horrible and the wake is bad. Therefore, you want a ski that gets up really easy and can ski between 32-34 mph since the wake gets smaller and higher speeds. I would avoid the super wide skis designed for 28-30mph. Something like a base level 67 HO Omni or 67 Radar Senate Alloy would work real well. The Radar Union or HO Omni Max would be better for you deep water starts but your speed goes down a bit and that means those IO wakes are higher. Comes down to if you would rather have slightly easier deep water starts or better wakes once up.
  16. Just because this makes things easier for skiing doesn’t mean it is good for our communities or our wildlife. I’ll stop there since environment protection is some how a political debate instead of common sense.
  17. BOA just means it has a dial to adjust tension instead of a toggle thing. I personally love the BOA because I can easily adjust it a bit in the water if I need to. Been using the Radar ARTP for a year and prefer it over the HO version from 5 years ago. For those cold water days, I use a super thin neoprene sock (got at REI) that is a few sizes smaller than suggested. To add grip, I applied strips of Goop glue to the bottom of the sock. That works amazingly well. Just be sure the sock is below the wetsuit and you have an ankle strap on to keep it all in place.
  18. Either skiing is a real professional sport to be taken seriously or just an amateur hobby. I think it should strive to be a professional sport and Freddie is a professional. With that, skiing of the top professionals should include the same statements and news as all other professional sports. In the end, sponsored sports are a spectacle for the audience and the athletes are there and getting paid because it is for our entertainment. Don’t like that, then go to the non-sponsored events.
  19. Flew united to Colorado this winter for snow skiing. So long as it’s sports equipment and not over 50 lbs, cost is the same as a normal checked bag.
  20. This argument just keeps going, despite no new information for some time. This just wouldn’t happen in most any big sport. Those sports have press conferences and reporters who dig for the story. There would eventually be an official statement by the “league” and often the player would make a statement, either apologizing or doubling down. Only reason skiing can get away with silence is that it’s so small and the same level of money isn’t moving around. Any other sport and we would have statements.
  21. For me, once it’s too cold for the O’neill it’s also time for the full length wetsuit.
  22. I missed that Jammie wasn’t participating in this tournament. Any word as to why she didn’t considering how close she is to the top?
  23. Do you know if he will offer a ski protector option like masterline and intow?
  24. I am not a fan of the throttle in the club 2021 Prostar. To me, it’s over sensitive and too easy to move. I much prefer the throttle in our old 2004 SN; smoother starts and easy to control off system engagement.
