  1. @ColeGiacopuzzi I’m talking about the different measurements for different bindings. Wish there was a way for all to be standard so that we can start at stock locations. Going from one binding to another, like rubber to hard shell or vapor, can be big.
  2. My mistype, meant rings (piston) sorry about that. I should add that we told the engineer that we exclusively use the boat for slalom, no casual boating. Our 2021 takes the synthetic Rotella 15-40 and that’s what we use. He said use for slalom is hard on an engine and this one is designed more like a race car. That’s why maintenance is more frequent. In the end, do what you want. I’d rather not chance it and just follow their recommendations.
  3. We spoke with an Ilmor engineer about some of the maintenance. They ran tests on 50 vs 75 hr oil changes and found that waiting until 75 hr actually resulted in noticeable wear of internal components, especially bushings. I have to wonder if the lower oil volume of the 6L has something to do with it. 4.5 quarts isn’t much for a modern engine.
  4. This thread exemplifies why we need a better, more universal way of measuring DFT.
  5. @dchristman I should have remembered that, few I ski with will be there. Thanks for the correction.
  6. Dave’s Pond is 1.5 hrs from downtown. https://wakescout.com/listing/3104/north-america/united-states/pennsylvania/edinboro/daves-pond-waterski-club/
  7. Check out the Omni line. I find them easy to get up on compared to others. No longer on one myself but it’s a solid option.
  8. I knew that Outbacks are known for getting wet foam but had no clue that it was common in others.
  9. Do all the ski manufacturers measure from the binding base or do some measure from the rear most point?
  10. I wonder if the switch from PerfectPass to Zero off made a difference too. PP let’s you pull the boat around some, essentially softening things up. Zero Off and modern engines will throttle up with the load. Does the softer rope help keep things smoother with Zero Off?
  11. Got another set on the Comp version today. All my worries are gone, didn’t notice stretch and all was fine. I’m guessing it’s a combination of the rope settling in and me getting used to it. I like it so far. Definitely don’t judge by the first set.
  12. I had a Siege back in the day and am not a fan. It hunted for an edge constantly. You would be better off buying a used better ski that gets shipped to you instead of something close by.
  13. I went with the Comp because of wrist and shoulder issues. Figured I’d give something softer a try, see if it has an effect. We’ll see if that was smart being a long line skier, meaning more rope is there to stretch. Coming from a worn out proline is a poor comparison so a few more sets are needed to see what I think.
  14. Had my first set on the medium stretch. It felt real soft the first 4 passes. By pass 8 it seemed to be a lot better. Guessing it takes a couple sets to get it to settle out. Visual quality is no question and I’m happy with the slip loops.
  15. Thank you for the update. I emailed her so will hopefully get on the list.
  16. Does anyone know if Brenda is still making spectra handles? Website doesn’t show any handles now.

    E-15 Fuel

All that the President did was allow for E15 to be sold throughout the summer, just as it was all winter. If your station offers E15, it still will. If you don’t want it, get the stuff you always did. This isn’t a requirement for gas stations to carry E15, just a relaxation of the rule that it can only be sold in the colder months. To be clear, I am not a fan of ethanol in fuel but want to clear up possible confusion. I definitely stay clear of the ethanol in a boat when possible.
  18. Had the same thing happen this year with a bent handle. Tried a partner’s straight and decided to buy one. It helped my wrist some too but I’m now in the off season and desperately trying to get the wrist back to 100%. Older I get, slower things stop hurting.
  19. Good stuff. I do think there are some personal decisions with handle guards. The simple spectra string can have negatives too but they maybe on to something with the zip tie connection. That’s why my piece of thin plastic has holes that are close to the edge, they will rip through before my arm is broken.
  20. I don’t get the point of this thread. Just like politics, it seems no one is going to change their minds here. All that’s happening here is like minded people respond so they feel good about their positions and others fight. Waste of time.
  21. What @Rw3 said. I broke my scapula and collapsed a lung in a bike accident. Took serious time to heal but eventually did. 15 years later I still feel it when I get really cold but that’s about it. Be patient.
  22. On Manon, last I heard is that she rides a DV8 with a tail that she made custom with a file and it took her many hours. Freddie was even making comments about it in a few tournaments, saying that Connelly should make the Manon tail as an option.
  23. I’m not condemning any company here. Shoot, I have a Carbon Omni and just got a Syndicate Omega Max. I must have done a bad job of asking. I’m wondering what happens when a pro doesn’t like the skies offered by their sponsor. Do they go back a few years or is that looked down upon. I know pros don’t always like the available options. Are they just out of luck for that season? Also, I’m wondering how often pros switch out their skies. Come on, I’m asking ski related questions that aren’t about octane. Throw me a bone.
  24. ‘21 is a different shape than the ‘22
  25. I’m not saying that we should buy because of someone else. Just making observations and asking some basic questions.
