  1. @ALPJr that's a different insert. The direct connect inserts are larger diameter and forward of the three rear 8-32 traditional inserts.
  2. Sorry for bringing back an old thread. I have the exact same setup as the original post, with the plat and I shortened the screws so they don’t bottom out. The HO ski has three inserts back there but using the plate means only two of them can be used. I’m wondering if it’s good using only two rear inserts, I should get the HO plate, or drill an extra hole in the Radar plate for that middle screw? Thanks.
  3. I had a long post written about the law and justice in this country and that I do not take pleasure in anyone’s misfortune. It’s not worth it. The admin tells me not to comment so I won’t. Got the message.
  4. I have no information about the case or Chad. A police officer is supposed to be an example of the Law. Somehow I know many Americans who are able to live and thrive without lying in ways that ruin other’s lives (even if those others are bad people) or stealing. He may be a good friend to some and fantastic driver but that does not change that doing something against the law should be prosecuted. These kinds of cases are horrible for our police because there are way more good than bad.
  5. @GarberoG it sure looks like something hit that ski. That’s a lot of spider cracking and I would probably look for a new ski. Others may fix it.
  6. Do we have to be a 39 off skier to answer this poll? (joking)
  7. Looks like Boa on bottom, bungee on top.
  8. Just use what the manufacture recommends and get back to skiing. Worry more about the food you eat, your ski, and your form. Even as a lowly 15 off skier I will always use what is recommended and move on with my life. On my previous question, I asked about the non-e because the Ilmor manual recommends both 91-93 octane and non-ethanol fuel. I was curious what people would say. I’m aware of the correct technical answer that ethanol is fine in newer engines that run often. If you don’t run it often enough the ethanol will pull in moisture. Once the new Mastercraft is on the lift I’ll go for recommended octane throughout the season. At the end I’ll switch to non-ethanol for a few sets to get ready for winter. Beyond that, I’m going to worry about getting that line shorter and not the gas.
  9. So if I can either get 90 octane non-ethanol or ethanol fuel at 91 or 93, is it better to go with the non-ethanol or higher octane?
  10. Did you test the fuel you got to see what the actual octane percentage is?
  11. Seems like you need to try some different RTP options. Before you jump to a double boot just try to get up with both feet in. You will have to do it with double boot anyway and it’s a lot easier to get your foot how you want while sitting in the water. Wileys makes both a standard and wide version so one of those may work better for you.
  12. Listen to the spraymakers podcast about speed.
  13. Is everyone around the same weight and foot size?
  14. I’ve been on a freeride and it’s a great ski for outside the course but I wouldn’t take it into buoy chasing, even at 30 mph. It’s way to flexible compared with my Carbon Omni. I’d personally get a Carbon Omni (which I did) or a Radar senate graphite. Both will get you into 34 mph and you can concentrate on your skiing form. You won’t regret the extra money on either of those skies.
  15. When a skier is done with their set, the next should be jumping in the water and ready as soon as the boat is back and their handle is hooked up. Better yet, two boats so everything is set up and ready for the next skier. Just hop in, wait the time needed for the water to calm, and the next skier is going. Small savings add up. I also like the idea of having more slow motion commentary by other pros between passes. I really liked the few times that was done this year. Football has a lot of down time but it’s filled with commentary, info about the last play, and what is likely coming. That keeps people’s interest. I do like the idea to force a starting line length for the pros. It would keep things moving and faster and be more exciting.
  16. @thager isn’t that the top end for weight for a 67 senate? That may make the slower speed a bit harder too.
  17. I’m on a carbon Omni and ski long line in the course. It’s a great ski for that and open water. If only open water and maybe a try in the course at 30 mph 15 off, you will be fine with the regular Omni. No reason for the carbon unless you really do the course more.

    Boat upgrade

Forget the I/O for any skiing, you will never be happy with it. Most here wouldn’t hook their rope to anything but an inboard or an outboard built for skiing and I’m becoming one of them. I have heard that some of the outboard glastrons are ok so that may be something to look at.
  19. Play with weight locations in the boats, usually helps to add weight to the bow. Also try different line lengths.
  20. Side squats, push-ups, Bulgarian split squats, pull-ups, some band mobility work for my rotator cuff, light calf stretches, and a few foot warmups (since I’m a few surgeries in on my left foot). I can ski without all that but feel way better when I do them and can ski more.
  21. My son is 6 and skied for the first time yesterday. My dad skied after him, 68 years of family skiing. So awesome!
  22. @Horton people are really bad at providing subjective judgments. A blind test with a number of skiers would have to be completed using different octane gas in order to really determine if it actually is something they can feel. Then, based on some comments, the test would have to be completed at higher altitudes or different temps. A simple poll on here will simply show anecdotal evidence and have little meaning. An engine control systems engineer would at least be able to provide an idea of possible hp differences when using different gas. Then it comes down to how impactful that hp difference actually is, which may also be dependent on the boat. That’s a wordy way of saying that the pole results won’t provide much actual evidence one way or another. I’m ready to go back to reading about whispers and pineapples.
  23. What’s “high octane?” I just use what the manual says to and spend my minimum mental acuity thinking about skiing. Is there an option for that?
  24. @Morg I do have the rear kicker close to the front. My front is on a MOB release system so the toe plate can’t be right up to the front boot. It’s maybe an inch away.
