  1. What boat speed and will you ski the course?
  2. In addition to not being able to really even ski with a double binding, I love being able to take the rear foot out between passes and just relax. When it's time to go, just stick my foot in. No cramping or discomfort.
  3. Start with your front leg so your knee is about a foot away from your body. When the boat starts to add power app pressure with your front foot so that it doesn't move towards or away from you. Don't push with your back foot at all, just let it sit up under you.
  4. @jetsetr you probably have a point. My dad tried a Carbon Omni but it was too much ski for him. He could ski it and there were no problems with stability but it just didn't fit what he did and speed he wanted. For him, the Freeride was a great fit and he says how much he likes the ski every time I'm with him. We can slow the boat down if it is rougher out and speed up to 29 mph when smooth, taking pressure off his hands so he can go for really long runs.
  5. I really thought that I had a small tear of the teres minor earlier this year. I couldn't rotate my arm in certain positions and after 8 weeks it was still just as bad. Got an MRI and was surprised to find no tears, beyond a small labrum tear that's probably from years ago. That gave me the confidence to go a little harder in PT and things started to improve, though still slowly. RC injuries are really slow going, even when not teared. Guess I'm saying to keep your hopes up a bit and get the MRI. Hopefully all you need is a lot of PT from someone who really knows their stuff. Good luck.
  6. @SGD just looked at the Radar website and notice that the Butterknife is no longer listed. Looks like the model was replaced by the Session, which appears to the fill the same purpose as the Butterknife. On the HO side you would probably like the HO Freeride. My dad has a Freeride and absolutely loves how easy it is to get up on and is even more impressed with how long he can ski without getting tired. I'm sure that either will be a lot of fun. Whatever you go with, enjoy and let us know how things progress.
  7. I suggest an Ortho visit, especially considering your history in the area. Take care of yourself.
  8. @savaiusini and @brooks are the right people for this.
  9. If the coverage, content, camera angles, and cool info from the Hilltop Pro Am is included then I'd kick in some.
  10. At 5'1" and 98 lbs I would think she is perfect for a 63" Omni. If she were taller the 65" would probably work well but it's a big wider and that's a lot of ski for her height and weight. Sure the speeds are slower now but that will be short lived and 28 mph is a great speed for an adult to free ski and learn. Just my opinion.
  11. Go with what @aupatking said. The longer curing JB weld is the way to go, don't get one of those short curing epoxies because they are not as strong. I like the use of vaseline to keep the JB Weld out of the inside threads.
  12. I'm on a 2018 Carbon Omni but added the Syndicate fin. As a relative novice, it's more than enough for me to work on making 15 off 32 mph more consistent. The ski isn't what's holding me back, my poor form is to blame for that. I really don't think a free skier needs the Syndicate. Get the Carbon and use the money for gas, new bindings, or some other gear. I'd be shocked if your friend is disappointed.
  13. FedEx damaged two skies in a row, one had boot marks from three different boots all over the "fragile" writing. Now I have a rash guard that's been Ohio to Maryland back and forth a few times, they don't know why and refused to help. They all can be trouble.
  14. @Deanoski I don't understand how a paracord guard is better than a hard plastic one?
  15. I'll change the ties out at the end of the year when I buy a new handle. The current setup should last through October. I played with how it is tied, trying some different ways to run the zip ties. I like how I currently have it and I did add one between the top and bottom because they are a bit more apart with how I have them set now. Using the cheap ties was good for experimenting.
  16. Thanks for the tips on zip ties. I have a few other ideas after a couple sets with this. I'll post once I have a gen 2. For now, this works and I just want to ski.
  17. Thinking more about this. The heart rate, forces, extra cameras, information about what the skier is doing, and overall quality of video are what we really need. It shows just how hard this sport is to people who have never run a course. The average weekend warrior understands that 185 BPM is really high and that 800 lbs of force is top level athlete, especially when on one ski and moving at 60 mph. Add decent discussions between passes, similar to between football plays, and it's really fun to watch. It also helps that these are athletic attractive men and women, let's be honest that it does help for all viewers. The sport needs all of this to become better known and enjoyable.
  18. Where my brain goes as a father of a 5 year old...
  19. @klhahn what kind of boat are you skiing behind?
  20. This is how pro tournament should be covered. I really liked the camera angles selected at the given times, there were good after pass angles, and the commentary provided good info to the audience. Plus, the picture quality was some of the best I've seen for a streamed tournament. I wish they all could be like this (including the other one this weekend).
  21. I have a feeling that moving to either a women's Omni or Lyric will be awesome for her. I'd get whichever is on sale this fall and she will have a great time.
  22. Sorry if a bit off topic but I've been using a Proline for the past year. Seems to be holding up well. The grip to my HO gloves is really tacky. In falls it sticks to the glove for a moment longer already, meaning I get a little extra force sometimes. If there was more grip I wouldn't have a shoulder. I never feel grip is lacking.
  23. Are you free skiing or doing the course?
  24. I have a feeling the real answer here is a new binding.
