  1. I have just heard of so many of these breaking and ppl getting hurt.... would like to try one but naw.... have to pass
  2. hello I have an older perfect pass on a 2001 malibu. we are skiing 34mph. we set the weight of the skier but are on the slow side of tolerance. which settings should we be adjusting to get closer to actual? thank so much as this is my first time messing with PP
  3. @Horton totally agree with you. these shapes have been done before (to some variation). kidder had the whisper fin shape in the early 90's. also seen all variations of materials used from plexi, fiberglass, to carbon fiber. hell even had a teammate put his fin in backwards and put out a hell of a pass!! Its fun to play with all this stuff but ultimately noting is going to "fix" your skiing quite like investing in some quality coaching and time on the water
  4. there is always a limit to warranty... most would reasonably be 1 year from date of purchase. ya cant really say I only ski 3 times a year so I should get longer warranty... IMO
  5. blame the fin setting.... if all else fails say it was too smooth lol
  6. @BraceMaker I would love to see video of straight legged skiing....
  7. try palm up in the turn... not just up and to the boat, but actually rotate the wrist to have the palm facing forward or better yet up!
  8. never ever "straight" . when you coach ppl to ride with a straight leg its interpreted as being locked out! Since the early 90's (yes im wicked old) Ive always said think of being dynamic, able to adapt, and ready to resist. sitck legs result in being pulled up off edge and does not allow the ski to sit in the water during edge change.
  9. was fortunate enough to ski with the University of Central Florida. I was luck to meet not only exceptionally Smart and Hardworking athletes who taught me how to study and prioritize readings which helped me graduate with a 3.75 (up from a near failing after my first year) but I also got to train and ski with some of the sports great!!! Overton, Cox, Swanson, Ross, Rossi, way too many to list!! oh and yes Im old as hell UCF alumni 95'
  10. @jcamp U and I must have skied the same events! I was at UCF till 95 and got to watch Murray "trick" on his wake board..... good times
  11. eliminate the external variables first and try 2-3 passes outside of the course. flex that front ankle allowing the ski to pull back to that COM. Remember we are not diving over the front of the ski so hips up and chest tall.
  12. best episode yet guys! totally agree... until volunteers are paid (oxymoron) we should only be providing education and training.... sanctioning a volunteer is a lot like cutting off your foot because you dont like the look of your toenail
  13. great segment @Horton and @TFIN have to agree with @Horton on this... not diminishing the accomplishments of these young skiers, but the likely hood of 50% plus of skiers setting a PB at one event exceeds plausible probability. @B_S stated "Wouldn't you expect Juniors to be setting PBs on a pretty regular basis? I know in swimming, if you're not setting a PB at a meet, you're in the minority." have to disagree. Top juniors are no different than top pros. PB's come slow and are not likely to be set on a regular basis..... I think @TFIN was on to something when he said possible the site is a satellite vortex and maybe is altered ZO some how lol R
  14. wake was actually pretty good,,, nut I seem to remember a bit more than average spray at shorter line lengths! looks good nice find
  15. @Justin_C I tend to believe if a ski is working well at the easier passes it is likely body position causing the issues at the later passes... if the ski is bouncing in the turn try holding on two hands a little longer into the edge change and deceleration phase. as well keep the hips moving forward into the turn... many times we come off the handle too quick and drop the hips as a means to slow down the ski.... this results in the ski coming to an abrupt stop... hope this makes sense?
  16. is this a new ski? if not has it worked well for you in the past? sounds like you might be coming off the handle a bit early
  17. for me in the early 80's it had to be JOBE. They were not afraid to deviate from the norm and try new shapes.... remember the Carbon V? as well they brought out the opentoe binding with rear zipper. after that in the 90's it was HO's slalom design hands down the best.
  18. agreed @bracemaker I find on each video at least one of them to be too quiet.
  19. loved the topic! great coverage of the Italian event and very balanced on the argument... I enjoy the back and forth and the fact ya all challenge each other (and not just agree). keep em coming I look forward to each new episode
  20. what the hell does Carey Heart and Seth Rogen know about skiing? seems like an odd choice for guest hosts... bring back @horton and @tfin
  21. im going to say the Senate is a softer ski and thus easier to turn... just a guess
  22. "I do have a question tho, do you want to step on the dock with the newest performance ski in your hand or a ski that you have bonded with over time that you ski well on ?" one I have bonded with for sure... And agreed placements mean nothing except advertising for the company... these rock stars could kill the course on any ski
