  1. It will straighten out. Mine came like that. It's just the way it shipped. After one set it was fine.
  2. We have two Responses in the family. My dad has a '06 LXi, I have a '05 LX, and our neighbor has '03 LXi. One of our close friends also has a '98 LX. I've honestly done some of my best skiing behind the 98. There are a variety of skiers that all ski our boats from 15' off to 32' off and they all perform well. I do notice a slight difference with my dads '06 LXi though. The wake is just slightly softer. Softer is the term I'd stick with. Less sharp maybe. I still think that the '98 LX has the smallest wake out of all of them. Maybe it's because there is no rear ski locker and the engine sits different that the 2000 models and beyond. I was looking to upgrade in the next few years but from the sounds of it you should probably stick with either an '03 to '06 or jump to 2012 and newer. Good luck!!
  3. @bparson I'm on the 67". I have never touched the fin settings...... Only being an Amateur Skier / weekend warrior for the most part I have always left the fin settings alone. Mine are the HO standard right now. I've thought about getting some coaching and would maybe follow direction then. We had some guys on our lake that played with their fins for a whole year once and never got them back to where they were comfortable..... I blame my bad skiing on my form and not the settings....
  4. @oldjeep Thanks. I'll have him check out the 2012 manual. The 2013 manual didn't offer much.
  5. @savaiusini Thanks Sam. When I get to that point I'll reach out to you for considering my next ski.
  6. @oldjeep Correct but it would be nice to adjust it. The manual really didn't offer much. My dad had a 2003 X-9 for a while and that was a simple up down with a GPS app on our phones.
  7. Hi guys - I have a friend who just picked up a used 2013 Mastercraft 197. It's his first inboard and she's a beauty. The zero off gauge is shot so he's waiting for the dealer to get the new one in stock. With that being said he's doing some old school throttling and using the standard speedo gauge. The problem is the speed is off...... It's reading a good 5+ MPH to fast. We've done some googling and can't find how to exactly adjust the speedo. Anyone have a 2013 MC 197 and know what the process is? Just trying to help a friend out.
  8. @savaiusini Thanks for the explanation. Just hit another personal best on my Syndicate Omni as I've gotten into 28 off. The bar has been raised!! I'm heading for 32 off. Out of curiosity; how deep into line lengths is the Omni intended? The reason I really like it is some of the other skis like the A1 or S2 I rode in the past had way too much smear on my offside turn. If I got too far forward the tail would loose grip and the whole ski would end up out of the water. I actually dislocated my right shoulder a few times when the tail completely released. Not anyone's fault except my bad form. I loved the 2018 Omni and the new 2020 that much more because when you turn the ski it locks in even if there's some chop. I feel extremely confident on it and I'm not experiencing the ski chatter like I had in the past with other skis. I'm mainly skiing 32 to 34mph. No point in going faster than 34mph for me.
  9. @bparson Wakehouse typically as the best price for them. I'm pretty sure I bought 3 the one year.
  10. @bparson Is this what you're talking about? https://www.wakehouse.com/products/ho-syndicate-slalom-water-ski-sleeve-w-fin-protector.html?dfw_tracker=10071-1008&gclid=Cj0KCQjwhb36BRCfARIsAKcXh6Fzad8ucCbIsiM8xIzzS_1ktcCvc49kchqNLRtRhpzZVvRAR5IMNqYaApyAEALw_wcB
  11. Has anyone heard if HO is coming out with a 2021 Syndicate Omni? Love my 2020 quite a bit and was curious if they're going to continue that model.
  12. @mike_mapple Must of burned like hell I assume lol!! I'll continue with the duct tape method lol!!
  13. I'm a huge fan of the O'Neill Slasher. Great flotation and extremely comfortable. Best floating Non USCG Vest I've used. Eagle wasn't enough for me.
  14. Is that blister treatment real???? Tore open my left hand a bit on Wednesday. Cut off the skin and I'm trying to dry it out. Thinking of the good ole' duct tape to get me through the weekend!
  15. Well just tested everything. Seems snug and fine so I have no idea.... put my hand back there on everything and nothing vibrates. None the less appreciate all the help!
  16. @DavidN should it have a little play in it or be totally tight? I did check the rudder under the boat also (while it was on the lift) and it has about an 1/8” of play in it. Malibu told me that’s acceptable but curious what you think since you seem to know the details.
  17. Is this what you were talking about? I checked everything else and it seems OK but this has a little play in it. Can you tighten it? I put a wrench on it but it just seems to spin. I’m guessing there is a nut underneath in which I’d have to remove the box cover to get to it I’m guessing there is a nut underneath in which I’d have to remove the box cover to get to it. I was going to check the strut also.
  18. @DavidN is this what you are talking about? It does have a little play in it. I put a wrench on it but it just spins. Do I have to pull the box cover to tighten it? Everything else seems ok. I was going to check the strut too. @
  19. @DavidN Ok - I'll check it all out this weekend. Thanks so much! Really appreciate it!
  20. @DavidN So just a couple pumps of grease then I guess which is what I've done in the past. I believe it does seep out from time to time. I'm not saying the rudder is perpendicular but it's turned quite a bit meaning there is quite a bit of force against it. I think mine is even on both sides but but I'll have to check. I'll check out the tiller arm bolt too. Is there a way to check out that's worn and needs replacement? Some way to test it? Appreciate the input!!
  21. I guess I could pump a ton of grease in there until I see it come out maybe.... During a hard right turn the rudder is also almost perpendicular to the prop so I'd assume the vibration may be common to many also.
  22. I ended up going with the Max Lift and really like it. Decided to assemble myself which saved me about 1k. Thanks for all the inpute.
