  1. Good morning Ballers, Late notice I realize, but I will be in Boca this week and would like to get some sets at Okeeheelee. I will bring money for gas. Thanks so much. Bruce
  2. Well I had PRP injection last week to the right hip. I can report the procedure is not painful, just a bit of pressure and burn. There was soreness at the injection site for about 24 hours. Injection site is anterior just inferior and medial of ASIS. I can also report the hip discomfort I typically experienced with movement, bending down, putting on socks, toweling off feet etc, the deep dull ache and pinch is reduced already. Sleep is much better. I was told to wait a month to have the left hip down. At this time, I will definitely have it done to left hip. Of course things could change as I get more active in my off season work outs but it looks good thus far. I will continue to report outcome.
  3. @MitchellM, I ski on this lake very often in the winter. I have a very close personal friend that lives on this lake. Kevin Jack does a lot of training here for sure. The slalom/ jump traffic is not a problem, however this is a public lake and there has been occasion when a fishing boat, pontoon or PWC will come along and mess up the water. There is no course on Juliana but it is my understanding that a permit for a course has been granted. I can give you my friends name and contact info if you PM me.Let me contact him first to make sure this is ok with him.
  4. Give scuppers a shout out. He has 64 WRCC. I skied on it when I was down there. Great ski.@jdroseinc, i also skied the nano twist LFF. When you get on the WRCC, it will feel a thousand times easier out of the water and skiing it. Requires NO EFFORT. In fact if you add effort, it turns into a top fuel dragster. Arcs and turns like butter.I have since got a 66. It is just flat out fun to ski. Late in my season, so haven’t tried many 38s with it but when I did, scored 2-3 which is same buoy count I had with the XTR CC. Love them both. Good luck.
  5. Thanks again to all who have given their personal experience. I am doing due diligence and based on what I have read, I am thinking get through the next ski season and have it scheduled about this time next year. This discussion has been very reassuring.

  7. @UWSkier that is my DX. However with moderate to severe OA. I’m 61. Your triggers are very similar to what I feel. I’m not ready for replacement yet but I know it’s inevitable. On YouTube look up Upright Health and Squat University. These two fellas have really good stretching programs for cam and impingement.Good luck.

  9. @Jody_Seal your daughter is correct and her advise/opinion should be applied. My next question to all who have had the surgery…….when did you know? The ironic thing is I can ski with ZERO pain or limitation. I do pay for it during sleep the following two nights. I don’t limp with gait. I do have a constant irritation into both sides of the groin, getting shoes and socks on in the morning is difficult and bending over/squatting down to get something off the ground or floor is a chore. Hip pain…..meh. More discomfort. My difficulty in making this decision, especially with all the great outcomes reported via this discussion, is I’d rather do this when my lower extremity muscles are still working and strong. How did you all make the final decision? Thank you.

  11. Thanks to all. I appreciate your insight. Sounds like I am going to be ok. I’m going to try the PRP route first but I know what the inevitable solution is. Thanks again.
  12. Thank you @Rook I appreciate your story and I am encouraged with your outcome. I am scheduled for PRP shots into the right hip but the discomfort and limited ROM is increasing daily.
  13. The SCA black widow Silverado is for sale BTW.
  14. Depends on my mood. It’s good to have choices.
  15. Who is skiing with a hip replacement or both hips replaced? Preferably looking for 34.2 MPH, short line skiing……35 and shorter. Interested to learn: can it be done? Can one ski short line slalom with a new hip? How long did it take to get back to prior buoy count?Etc. thank you.
  16. @Obrienslalom If you settle in north Cincy area there are two lakes in south Dayton right off 75 southbound. Sunsite ski lakes. You’re welcome to ski with me but I am way north of Cincy, Springfield area. Good luck.
  17. Gentlemen and gentlewomen, the debate over the issue this discussion has turned into is endless, complex and volatile, and actually visceral for some reading who has been on the victim side of this gross issue. It is impossible to legislate life. For thousands of years, laws and rules have been adopted, changed, modified, altered and yet to no avail. For some of us, we know sin entered the world over two thousand years ago and today the consequences of this sin is present on a daily basis. However, an online course to “protect the young athlete” is NOT going to stop the predation of young people. The weak, vulnerable, misinformed and innocent of a society will continue to fall prey to the predators. Unfortunately the predators don’t wear badges or signs saying “beware” I am a perp. (They do take online courses though to learn the ins and outs of the system.) My opening statement/question for this discussion was what is the legitimate reasoning for me to be mandated to take SS to participate as a member of USA waterski? Folks, my question was answered approximately two pages ago; it’s a money grab for USA waterski. It was explained that USA waterski is receiving funding from a governing association, which in turn requires members to complete SS. Ok, I understand this answer. Do I agree with it? Not important. Do I have a choice to make? Yes, and I did. I am completely satisfied with the answer. I wish this could have been told up front so perhaps all this bitter debate would not have transpired. I do NOT judge folks for taking the SS. My ski partner, whom I consider a very good friend took SS so that he could compete in tournaments. A very good recent friend of mine is going to take SS so he can participate in the nationals in his home state. We respect and enjoy each other with NO JUDGEMENT. Thank you for the opportunity.
  18. Hey @dave2ball, so asking a question to gain information regarding a mandate from an association I have been a member with for several years is whining? As I read through this entire discussion, i have found the discussion responses to be mature, courteous, explanatory and informative. I have not really read a “whine and cheese” comment thus far……Oh wait, besides your last post. My primary opening question was “what is the legitimate reason we have to complete SS to be able to ski in tournaments?” The answer has been somewhat answered recently on some of the most current post: USA waterski is receiving money from a governing body who mandates SS to be completed by its members. If this is true…..OK. My choice is not to participate. To be totally transparent to all: I actually don’t ski tournaments anyway. There have been more years than not when I have paid my dues to USA waterski and did not ski in a tournament. I don’t enjoy them. It demands a lot of time. I never got into this sport to compete against others. I don’t need affirmation for my skiing. My “tournament” is my skiing against the course, its that simple. My affirmation comes from me completing as many buoys as I can each and every time I ski. Choices are part of our great democracy. Mandates should not be part of that democracy. Choices….
  19. So….the “protection” that HQ and others have referred to is actually for USA waterski litigation. The mandate is “sold” in the disguise of “protecting our young athletes”. So more truth: if any of these government affiliated associations truly believe the government is going to lawyer up and come to your rescue legally….wow then they all are really naive.
  20. @HQ: you’re really good at the political two step. Good luck to you in your political career. @Broussard: Please post that dead horse thing again. Mike drop.
  21. Thanks to everyone who has chimed in on the debate. My intent was not that of debate. I was searching for an answer. At the time of this posting, there has been NO legitimate reasoning for Safe Sport to be mandated for waterskiing tournaments. There is no panacea of protection if someone takes an on line course regarding appropriate behavior. We speak of protecting the young athlete, but what does safe sport or any other online data base offer to the young athlete in the pathway of a coach/predator? Don’t you think the Catholic Church, Baptist church, etc required their leaders to pledge ethical behavior? If you’ve watched a women’s NCAA gymnastics meet recently this is what you and the rest of the viewership will see: Student athlete sticks her dismount, gets a great score then runs to her coach who is waiting with open arms, she launches herself into his arms and she wraps her legs around his torso. I am pretty sure this is a huge no no according to safe sport, but it continues. Is this inappropriate behavior? As a father of two daughters, now raised and a papaw of a 7 year old granddaughter: NO. If i witness this over and over at a practice or outside the realm of high level competition, now I start to asked questions. This topic obviously needs to be re visited @ HQ. My questions still needs an answer but it will be left unanswered. Thank you again for the opportunity.
  22. There is SOOOOO much to say about this topic and mandate. My initial question was regarding the legitimate reasoning for taking this “course” to participate in membership for USA waterski and/or ski tournaments? The answer so far is there is not a legit reason for this mandate. I see folks just say “take it”, “shut up and take it”, “Do it for the love and support of the sport”, “it only takes a short time” etc. etc. It is certainly not coincidental that the 30 yr. Old members are signing up and not saying anything. And as reported by “HQ”, the older members are not signing up or they’re just complaining about it. Due to the strict political guidelines attached to this site and out of respect to @horton I will withhold my opinion regarding those demographic findings. However, the answer to my question is: This is not about waterskiing or tournaments, but more about gathering data on another small community or subculture within our United States. Thank you for all the responses. I respect everyone’s choice to do as they wish. Ski well and enjoy.
  23. Thank you roger for your insight. I appreciate your response.
