  1. Thank you @ski6jones . I appreciate your insight and your explanation.
  2. Does someone have a chart to convert slot caliper numbers to standard caliper numbers? I swear I did a search and zero topics came up. Most specific to DFT numbers. Thanks.
  3. Ok one more time….I did a search to see if this topic had been discussed. Keywords: safe sport, USA water ski, AWSA safe sport. NOTHING came up. The Nate smith stuff came up but my question was regarding membership to USA waterski. Sorry to ask a question regarding skiing participation. I got my answer. Enough said. I would opine that other discussions have been started that are much lamer than this one.
  4. @Jody_Seal I would definitely think a poll is appropriate for this matter. I am NOT the person to do that but i will participate. My expectation is that it will not make a difference.
  5. Thank you for your comments and responses. As I suspected no legitimate “ski” reasons. If what @unksskis says in his post is true then it’s more government mandate stuff. Again thanks for the insight. I will table my question.
  6. Sorry @Broussard i did a search and nothing came up. I agree btw. @MattP why else would I join?
  7. I know I am probably treading on very thin ice. My question is not politically charged. I am obviously late to the table. When I got my renewal email from USA Waterski I considered renewing immediately. (Early Spring). I didn’t. About a month ago I learned that doing SafeSport training was required to renew with USA waterski. My question is why? I cannot think of one legitimate reason as to why this is part of my USA waterski sign up. I am not coaching young people at a tournament I am not coaching young people at my ski lake No, I am not renewing. My ski partner skied states this week and I believe they had 4 participants in M5. 4!! 66 total skiers at a state tourney. A friend texted me and said he was one of three skiers in M3 for his state tournament. 3! There are several discussions on here regarding what’s killing the slalom skiing sport, etc. My opinion is this certainly didn’t help. I seriously would love to know the relationship b/w the two.
  8. I just had the opportunity to ski the 64 WR. Fin settings dead on stock. FB at 29 per Goode. Went right up the rope through 35. I am currently 178 ish. Currently that ski would work for me. I would move the FB back 1/8”. Unfortunately, I start the season at 190 + so the 64 is a tad too short for me. That being said, I am just amazed more skiers are not trying this ski. Easy to ski, stable, forgiving, fast cross course, turns like an F1 car, decelerates moving into the buoy, effortless on the body. I know @scuppers has this 64 WR for sale. He is offering it at a great price. He landed on the 66.
  9. I just can’t resist: Can my edition one ford bronco pull my 2019 ski Nautique?
  10. Hey ballers, I will be in Palm Coast FL next week and I was looking for a place to get some sets during the week. I would prefer to keep it within an hour drive. This area is located approximately 35 minutes due north of the Daytona speedway. Thank you.
  11. I must agree with 34 MPH. I purchased the ski he is speaking of. I took the ski directly from the box and put my bindings on it. The fin had been set up by Martin from Goode. I was taken back at the extreme width of the ski, compared to my XTR CC. My experience: THE easiest ski I have ever been pulled up out of the water on. Hands down. I know that is not a huge factor with all of us but for those with LB or shoulder issues, this is like getting up on a wakeboard. It rides very high on top of the water, creating great glide and speed if that is what you desire. From wake to wake, the quickest ski and least efforting ski I have ever tried. Very stable, very predictable. Very user friendly. This ski loves forward pressure pre turn. I curl my toes going into the buoy line, this ski responded really well to this stimulus. Turns on both side were butter. This does require PATIENCE at the turn and coming back onto the handle. Let it come under the rope, and keep moving toward the wake. No need to push down on this ski or add effort. I did this a couple times at 35 and it lean locked on me. Off the second spray as you come up over the ski, it will decelerate but carry out. I always had plenty of space prior to the buoy from 28 thru 35. This ski is effortless. This is just flat out fun. I highly recommend giving it a try. My specs: 60 y.o. LFF. 179 @ 5’ 10”. Practice typical score is 3 or 4 at 38 majority of days. Ski 34.2 @ A2. Good luck and have fun.
  12. Dude just wanted to show everyone that he got a new bronco. He knew before he even posted this silly discussion that his bronc would pull it. So…..ooooh that is a super awesome bronco. Oh my gosh, you are sooooo lucky to have one. (Soaking with sarcasm)
  13. @UWSkier, yikes you are a mess. agree with PRP and connective tissues. The stem is for OA if you have it. I did some research about the labrum surgeries……literally about 50/50 surg. Vs. PT and stretching. Good luck with RTP. I feel like the RTP made me better skier by not using my rear leg so much. I have my RTP close to my FB. Tried it back and was putting way too much pressure and wt on rear of ski.
  14. @UWSkier, So kind of sideways off topic, but I have CAM injury with OA of both hips. I will do stem cell and PRP in Nov. I have also found Upright Health and Squat University on YouTube. These guys are awesome for stretching and strengthening for this type of hip condition. It has really helped reduce the pain and add flexibility. I am RTP. You’ll do great. Good luck.
  15. Yawn!! its so unfortunate a discussion that has waterski/slalom merit ends up being dragged out to a dumpster fire. After watching the skiers participate at nationals on the webcast I have come to the conclusion that skiing style/technique/whatever is totally a personal/learned thing. Why? Go back and watch. There were skiers with their arms straight out in front of them still running 28, 32 and into 35. Hips dragging behind them, chest and torso way forward, basically rolling the ski to the inside edge AT THE buoy, No lean angle, tons of lean angle, wide gate, narrow gate, counter rotating, off shoulder forward, back arm pressure, ALL THE THINGS and yet still a lot of these folks run their passes. Now I understand this discussion is primarily about getting deeper than 32 and 35. Unfortunately, there are only a small handful of slalom skiers that will ever visit the hallowed halls of 38, 39, etc. I will report that I had an epiphany this season in the form of a podcast, actually two. Rossi and Trent did their discussion about “ the handle” and better was the “ski set up” discussion. For me….BAM. I have run more 38’ s this year than accumulative in my slalom life. (3 days with Chet helped as well). Bottom line…..GO SKI. GET professional training from someone credible. Ski your style. That’s the great thing I love about Chet’s coaching, he watches you ski several passes, learns your style and if there is potential with YOUR style, the coaching begins with improving or using that style to get better at the slalom course. There is not an effort to dump the baby out with the bath water and say, ski like me or Adam caldwell or John Horton. So back on point, listen to the two podcast I referenced. Really listen…..there are some excellent points made that will enhance your skiing and get your farther down the rope.
  16. Another shout out to the boarding school. Skied there yesterday with Freddie. New MC PS. Working with Freddie on the new NRG R2. As usual, great experience, very accommodating, friendly.....all the things. Highly recommend this site when in Orlando.
  17. A lot of things. Probably too much. However, I am really exhausted by doing the same things over and over expecting different results. Starting season on new ski, NRG R2. (4 seasons on 2019 Radar PB.) Different RTP, a flatter foot bed, only 1/2” instead of full 1”. Less rotation on RTP, keeping it straighter Modified White cuff Reflex shell. Cut down the cuff and cut down the inside of the foot shell Changing to the Denali Gate. At 59 this is the hardest of all. I free skied 4 sets on R2 with trying to implement the DG. My primary goal was to get the feeling of swing or “flip” at CL. I have 4 sets in the course so far. Through 35 already. The DG is truly the biggest difference so far. It really allows me not to load the ski too early, which in turn allows the ski to swing. Goal: To be consistent at 38.
  18. Thanks gentlemen. My fin settings are completely stock. My FB is back 1/8”. I am not hesitant to change fin settings if things aren’t working. I also understand shallower fin helps the swing I seek. I guess my frustration is I see so many skiers do this movement and it appears to be automatic, almost reflexive. I was doing a lot of this type “drill skiing” while I was free skiing. When it happens, I almost think in my head I know I am going to make this pass and I can really continue to concentrate on other attributes of skiing. I will attempt to get some video. Thanks again for the input.
  19. So this is my question: Is there a ski set up to allow a ski to have that automatic swing or "flip" at CL or into the second white water? I'm going into my fourth season on 2019 radar PB. Avg. practice score 3-4 @ 38. " in season" I rarely miss 35. But only ran 5 38's last yr. I really feel my short coming is I CANNOT do this flip or swing deal. If I concentrate on it, I can MAKE it happen at 28-32 but then its just ski and get out 6 and gate at 35 and 38. So what I have I done to correct me? (yes I imagine it could be me the skier) I have watched the Denali gate video ad nauseum. I probably could quote it verbatim. I also am starting this season on NRG R2. So as LFF, I have never been a follower of let the arms go away from body on drop in to gate. I always squeezed my elbows into my sides and pushed my right hip/ trochanter toward the gate and allowed the ski to catch the edge and then go. Well I have been doing/attempting the DG (denali gate) with the new ski. Free skiing due to 46* water being to cold to hook buoys on subs. during these sets, I actually felt the flip happen, from gate drop in and all subsequent turns and cuts while free skiing. video confirmed it. Ok 3 sets in the course, the first two sets, very good results. 28's very good. 32's struggled at first but suddenly felt like mid season 32's. So tonight I purposely went back to my old gate and the ski did not flip at CL, stayed on cutting edge, felt fast, could not slow it into buoy, tip rise on both sides......just hair on fire skiing. Last three passes, I went back to DG. Bam. The ski rolled at CL, basically back sided every buoy at 28 and 32, controlled, decelerate into the buoy, turned and carried angle back to CL. Totally different experience. So my epiphany: The DG allows me to load the rope, build angle into CL with out loading the ski, which allows the ski to roll on turning edge. BUT, is there a fin set up that also enhances this flip, roll, swing movement of the ski at CL? OR is this swing mechanism that I seek more a result of loading the rope but NOT the ski? thank you in advance
  20. @Riverlife02 I will leave you PM. Call me. I’ll get you hooked up with plenty of skiing.
  21. apologize for the long post, but I must tell two stories of my experience with Coach chet: very early on in my ski coaching journey, I had my wife go with me to florida. She joined me one morning with Chet. She does not course ski and for all intent and purpose she really doesn't want to know about the technical aspect of what we do. So she rides in the passenger seat with Chet, Wim driving. I get done and as I sit down next to her on the beach area, she says to me...." um you do know Chet is not a water ski coach?" I said.."what?" She said , "nope, he's a counselor or psychologist or teacher or something" (She is mental health counselor BTW). Chet comes over and I tell him what she said, he LOL and says, well actually she is right. Chet coaches LIFE and oh by the way, let's apply that to waterskiing. Last story, He was teaching me the gate I needed to do. I was struggling or just not getting it. Next set, he comes up to me before getting in the boat and asked me if I know who Tom King is? Of course, I reply. Chet says he's coming to test some new equipment and he's gonna be floating at one ball. I need you to think about the picture you want him to take. Just think about how you want it to look. So we go out and sure enough, some person is floating near ball one. Bam! Gate and one ball dialed. So he asked me about the gate/ one sequence. I discuss it with him and he says ok, lets reinforce it here on this pass. My gate is automatic since then, oh BTW, it wasn't Tom King and the person floating next to one ball was a student he asked to go out there and hang looking like he's snapping photos. Love you Chet.
