  1. I just drove my bro in law's. Nissan Armada a couple weeks ago. He bought used with only 20,000 miles. Very strong V8. 3rd row seating. Pretty much what you are looking for. Im a Tahoe fan for sure, but that thing would certainly be worth looking into.
  2. Yep. A slight and steady headwind can be as much help as a tailwind is a hindrance. I was just in that situation this morning and I happened to notice my pre turn knee bend was better on my offside, which allows the ski to turn easier and be in better position, sooner, for the pull.
  3. Jobe made a pro v before the carbon v, correct? Or are they the same ski and I made up the pro v? I skied a Jobe "V" in 87 and I think they were out for a two years.
  4. Question: I measured the heel of my Strada binding before removal, put my new one in the same spot, 29 5/8 (didn't change the rear binding). Hit the lake yesterday and could. not. get. up! That has happened... never times since I've learned to slalom. Been on lots of skis, lots of new bindings, fin set ups, canoe paddle, could always find a way to get up. It didn't even feel like I was on a ski. It wanted to flatten out way too soon (and I like getting out front early getting up) and wanted to turn hard right immediately. I double checked the fin and settings, no change. Binding feels really good on my foot. It was completely baffling to me and my ski buds. I doubt you have had a similar situation, but if so and you solved it, let me know how.
  5. Depending on your bindings and plate, typically the adjustment holes are 1/4 inch apart. Start with one hole. It can make a surprising difference.
  6. Here's a nice KD platinum, blank with fin, 200.00 in MN. https://m.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2557234337924734/?ref=browse_tab&search_query=KD%20Platinum&tracking=%7B%22qid%22%3A%226843911128645635687%22%2C%22mf_story_key%22%3A%222659880950780240%22%2C%22commerce_rank_obj%22%3A%22%7B%5C%22target_id%5C%22%3A2659880950780240%2C%5C%22target_type%5C%22%3A0%2C%5C%22primary_position%5C%22%3A-1%2C%5C%22ranking_signature%5C%22%3A0%2C%5C%22commerce_channel%5C%22%3A503%2C%5C%22value%5C%22%3A0%2C%5C%22upsell_type%5C%22%3Anull%7D%22%7D I think you need to put another $150 into the budget if you can swing it and you should be able to find a ski that can out ski you pretty easily.
  7. Thanks again for the help. My old boss runs 88 Gear (if you haven't heard of it, check it out, runs it by himself) so I was able to run over to his wearhouse and get a new, but swapped out vector for a great cash price.
  8. For the number of lakes, and skiers within an hour or so from Madison, we have far too few courses available to ski unless you are really"in" with someone. I've got to say that the Dubuque waterski club was one of the best I've belonged to other than the fluctuations with high water on the Mississippi. Less than a $100 membership and gas money for the several boat owners. Ski their course each weekend and a couple nights during the week. Im not sure how they are doing after the last three years having major flooding. Something to look into for some of you. I might be able to get some information if requested.
  9. Post your price range, foot size (left or right forward) and if you prefer double boot or RTP and I'm betting that someone on here will be able to help you out. Check your Facebook market place and Craigslist. Sometimes people just got out of the sport but have decent skis for sale. Anything from 2000 or newer. If you are ok with rubber bindings, Wiley's are an easy replacement/upgrade to what you are used to.
  10. @UWSkier, yes, Tolzman's. KT lost the property, and a group of people from Madison bought it together. Does your sister ski with Dave at the Reedsburg lake? I know there were three people who owned it, and they didn't get along. Dave wanted out, said he was going to build a lake on his farm near Lake Mills, but that was a dozen years ago. I've totally lost track of those people, other than the Tolzman. I coached his boys in wrestling two seasons ago and the youngest and my son were both on the track team. There were three boats with a portable in Okee bay this Saturday morning according to my buddy.
  11. There is a private ski lake between Reedsburg and Wis Dells. Dave Mule (pronounced that way but not sure how it's spelled) is/was one of the owners, he used to pull for the UW team (@UWskier are you familiar?) There's also a private lake (with a separate barefoot lake) near Eastman, between Wi Dells and Adams. A group of people from Madison own it.
  12. My front Strada bindin, which I really, really like, finally gave up the ghost. Im assuming the rear won't be far behind. What's my next move to keep a similar feel to the Strada, and can I attach to my plates, or get new ones (its been awhile since I've done any purchases, but it looks like the plates are still basically the same...i have the HO pattern). Fyi I'm no longer skiing the course (no access to one in my area) but still ski typically 28-32 off @34mph. Thanks for the input.
  13. In a word, yes. I have a Shortline II, once in a great while I will put it on for a free ski, omg, it's not a good ski. ?. Even if you only upgrade to a 2005-2010 ski you will feel a huge difference. For your weight and speed bump to a 68". It will simply work better than a 67, and be more fun.
