  1. I'm going to add a new post to this thread. I got a Rocker Rack for my slaloms. Contact them directly to order as the snow ski/snowboard version are all that is currently on Amazon etc. Let Peter know you want the waterski version. He's a great guy and wants feedback to perfect the product ( it's about perfect as is and absolutely worth buying). I finally hung some shelving and decided the Rocker Rack would fit perfect at the end of it. In a couple pics I have my ski skin on as well, I just slightly widened the arms. Works perfectly and gives my skis a out of the way, and safe place to hang out. I really like the vertical storage vs horizontal. Very happy.
  2. I'm curious if the numbers are what they are due to the type of website BOS is as well as what is talked about and by whom. By that I'm saying that it's doubtful this site gets much if any viewership from young skiers. Most certainly it's a dying sport for many reasons, but it might not be as close to death as this poll might make it seem. It's unfortunate that the haircut of the 80s, the mullet, came back with a vengeance, but skiing didn't come with it.
  3. If you don't think masks actually have an effect, head to your local school and ask any classroom teacher how many boxes of kleenex they've gone through this year vs. a regular year. And to save you the suspense.. My classroom goes through 12-15 boxes on a normal year. So far I haven't gone through ONE whole box. We've had students every day all year, so the comparison is valid. Other teachers from other schools/districts have said the same. The common-cold is a type of corona virus as you all know. It can also be spread airborne as you all know. It was almost non-existent this year as was the flu. Only one kid puked in school all year. That's a record. Masks have made a huge difference. As for Covid 19, we have had only 2 cases where we can say with probability that it spread from student to student while at school. Thanks to video cameras, we can see that these were situations where the students were passing a Juul back/forth thus direct contact with mucus membranes. Any other Covid-19 cases (and there were lots of them) were from outside of school non-mask wearing situations like private club sports, gatherings, or family members who were infected. Keep wearing them in social situations as much as possible. Help bring the numbers down while more people get the vaccine.
  4. Radar prime or vectors. Ready to mount. Easy speasy. If you are close to the top sizing (say size 10 feet) on an 8-10 (standard) binding, go up to the xl size imo.
  5. Keep your boat. If you want something with small wakes, buy an old 16-17 foot tri-hull with a 85 hp engine and a pylon for probably $1500. Not kidding. Tiny soft wakes and plenty of power for up to 32mph or so. When you are done with it, pay it forward.
  6. But in texas you can pay $15,000 in utilities for one month. So there's that aspect of the free market. ?
  7. I've been very happy with turtle wax spray and shine (does excellent for the price on all those youtube comparison videos) on my vehicles including my original paint 79 truck. What has been an added bonus is how well it works on the windows and windshield. They dry clean and this winter made scraping the windows super easy. So for $14 per bottle, it would be worth a shot on a boat. If it doesn't work, it's good for the car.
  8. I'm not going to lie. Horton's reviews and descriptions of skis is a factor, and should have been an option. There is so little available regarding how these expensive things work, that unless you can demo multiple skis, you are really just rolling the dice. Horton takes his time to set up the ski and gives as good of feedback as possible for a word-of-mouth type review (it would be almost impossible to get "data" like a car review could of 0-60 times and G-pad numbers) that it's a solid factor.
  9. It might be worth your time and money to travel down to Liquid Edge, just down in IL. Doug is set up to teach almost every level of skier through the course. Certainly wish there were more options open in the state for courses.
  10. I had a Skurfer, man that thing whistled loudly! Could hear it from inside the boat easily. Could play a catchy tune over rollers.
  11. @DaveD size 11's into a 9 worked for only a very short time. But your point does have merit. Identical can't be identical unless they are...identical.
  12. Sounds great for people who are riding the same size skis, and have almost unlimited time year around and perfect conditions. Typically trying skis and settings for that demographic of the ski world hasn't been a huge issue. That said, I once crammed my feet into the bindings of my buddy's newest ski and fell in love. I had my own in two weeks, only 260 away on serial number. Despite identical settings (and many others) mine never felt or performed close to how his did. So. . there's even more sand in the vaseline. Ski's are often as individual as we are.
  13. If you are skiing for fun, open water, you should be fine. Bump up the mph by a couple and drop 10 lbs by June. Best of both worlds.
  14. Peeps. Lots and lots of peeps. Just kidding, haven't had one in decades.
  15. I blame Tony Finn. Without his rad moves on the Skurfer, we'd all be better off.
  16. Contact Radar via email. Have pics and measurements. They will be able to help, which may include drilling new inserts. I just got mine back from them. Took a few days and everything lines up now. I only paid for shipping to them, nothing else.
  17. I think the tru trac II needs to be on a short list.
  18. Bah! There's nothing specific about water skiing or really anything related to the sport on any of the merch. Lame IMO.
  19. @Pullhard what's inside the Connelly bag? The bag graphics are from a Solo-Comp, correct? I think I still have one of those in my parent's shed.
  20. @LOTW referring to my bindings post, there's nothing wrong with the bindings nor the plates. The location of the inserts is the issue based on the measurements given to and information received back from Radar, as well as their advice for the safest way to fix.
  21. @Horton this is the exact opposite advice I received from Radar who said about adding additional inserts "There is a Nylon block in the ski so if inserts are added correctly they go into the nylon block and are the strongest way to fix." Obviously the location of the extra inserts is the key.
  22. Welcome back. I was in a similar situation in my twenties, but got back in a few years younger than you. Lots of good ski/binding options out there. Honestly almost any 67"-68" upper-end (not always top end) ski made in the past decade will serve you well, so check out ski-it-again.com. Others may say different but I've always found D3 skis to be very neutral and forgiving skis that will outski most of the people riding them. Also read some of Horton's older reviews on this site for some guidance too. Freshen the bindings if needed. I'll 2nd the Radar Vectors mentioned above, If I had the time/money to try multiple others, I might find something I like better, but these are really comfortable and confidence inspiring for me vs. rubber bindings. If you are one the bubble for size, go to the larger size. I'm a 10.5 and the XL fit very well. Oh, and make sure you start a bit slower...30, 32, and then 34mph. 36 is for the kids!
  23. @BraceMaker they did suggest that I send it to them. I was a downhill ski tech for 4 years and put in hundreds of inserts. We talked it over and they are sending me inserts and I will take care of it.
  24. @skialex , yeah, that's a real shite hole! ? 1st world problems eh? Very nice set up and organizing! My only suggestion might be to make a couple hanging holsters for your drills/impact at your charging area. That would free up shelf space above. I used a couple of pieces of 4" pvc and they work great. Oh, and magnetic tool holders strips are really sweet for hand tools if you have any interest.
