  1. Feet? So the pros are dealing with a rope stretching and changing in length by roughly the amounts of their shortenings. WOW! And for humble me (who is likely pulling less than half the max load they do) on 18.25m, 15' off, probably about the same stretch. Never knew. Thought stretch would be less than 0.1m
  2. When you're all talking stretchy, how much in real terms do they stretch? Actual measured stretch distance in millimetres or inches when at maximum load compared to minimum load
  3. @ironhorse sounds like you also need a Seabreacher https://www.hydroattack.co.nz/ https://seabreacher.com/
  4. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/boats-marine/motorboats/listing/3619205213?bof=4dVpoLS9 that's the equiv of US$370k
  5. If you look at it you go to it. Applies to many sports. MTB, kayaking, etc. So the ideal slalom hi res is look at a spot before the buoy? Hard to do when there's nothing there.
  6. Change can happen quickly. When the new technology performs better people will use it. It's happened before. Horse to car. Film to digital. Fax to email. I'm in no doubt electric vehicles of all types will happen (plus some alternatives like hydrogen etc). Question is just how rapid the uptake is. That'll depend on performance. At the moment EVs accelerate rapidly and have enough range for almost all commuting trips. The charging is slower than liquid fuel refill but is improving. Battery storage capacity is also improving so long range travel without recharge, or towing, are becoming possible. It's just a matter of time. For car, trucks, boats.

Yes, he supplied some instructional diagrams
  8. Nice boat! Looks like you've got the Monsoon 340 engine too. I've got an 03 RLXi with same :) Did you spray a coating on the dash and engine box?
  9. No and yes. Confusing right! The base block and heads are GM Vortec. It's the induction, exhausts etc that make it a Monsoon version. This might be useful info for you https://www.themalibucrew.com/index.php?/forums/topic/54345-gonna-ask-a-stupid-question/&page=2
  10. I wasn't thinking side ways surfing/wakeboard stance around buoys but proper one foot in front of other stance on a self powered ski. Maybe that'd be just feel too weird. Thinking about it now is slalom, trick & ski racing the only sports with single ski/board where the rider faces forward? Skateboard, surfing, snowboard, windsurf, foiling, etc are all sideways stance. Anyways it looks like fun and if it removes some wake and surf boats from public lakes it's a good thing!
  11. @MDB1056 the hatch will be for accessing The Wedge from the platform rather than needing to get into the water
  12. Keep them coming! So far quite liking The 7th Ball/Buoy The Malibrew
  13. Had my first tows on the 2019 Senate Pro Build during my summer holiday break. Wow, it feels so stable and sure footed! Initially I thought it was slow however then realised the difference is it builds speed smoothly and progressively, not the 'ping' acceleration I'd get from the VTR. Really helped me get my weight forward. Definitely a keeper! Had my Animal binding and RTP on it. Will try it with Animal rear boot in a couple of weeks when get another chance to ski.

The replacement TRD guages work great! Very happy with them. The GPS speedo is awesome and no waiting for it to find satelites as it stays powered up for 8 hours

Installed my TRD kit. GPS speedo and multi gauge. It completely removes the Medallion MMDC computer so no future issues. Haven't water tested it yet. Tomorrow hopefully weather willing.

@Ray the 1208 kit gives me a new multi gauge and GPS speedo. Could have got the 1205 with multi and tacho but as my third gauge is the Malibu tacho & PP combo the 1208 is the best option. Engine hours available in the PP (or in engine if plug in diagnostic reader. I don't care about air temperature as just use feel to kow if it's cold, ok or hot :-) For water temperature and the all important decision if boardies only, shorty wetsuit or long wetsuit we're always on same lake so roughly know by season and weather, and if we really want to know water temp it's already available in PP. We will miss the depth alarm but sometime I'll add a new depth gauge/alarm. I did ask Ron if theres any chance he's developing a gauge with LCD for depth, temps etc but reply was no, not at moment.

I just ordered one of these medallion conversion kits https://skiboatpartsonline.com/Medallion-Conversion-Kit-Malibu-TRD-1208-MAL-PP?search=1208 Once it arrives and is installed I'll report back on how it goes
  18. It’s the time of year skiers ponder their equipment and if to change. Some comments on when change might be helpful would be a good topic. At what speed or line length to change from basic model ski to a carbon version? Or from say a wider senate or Omni to a narrow ski? Why if skier has the budget is the pro build version always recommended vs lower cost softer version (is stiffer still better on rolley or windy public lake?)
  19. Sounding like its worth a go. FYI interest in high end slalom skis is limited in NZ hence why I'm being cautious
  20. Are you skiing it on man made ski lake with good conditions, or on a natural lake with wind, wakes and rollers from other boats?
  21. Since learning to slalom I have only ever skied on HO System 8 which I purchased and HO V Type R which I borrow. I was thinking Omni or Senate based purely on reviews that they good to learn course with and for free skiing fairly aggressively. Based on my first thread I'd decided to just to keep using V Type R but then out of the blue got offered the Senate pro yesterday.
  22. " @horton has said it before… the only disadvantage to the top end skis is the price. All features will benefit any level skier but you may not fully appreciate or notice all those features. " I assume that's only referring to flex and not shape? I can understand it making sense if always in great conditions, coached, etc however I thought stiffer can cause problems when learning and on less than perfect water?
  23. Using it with my 2007 Animal boot and an RTP but think I'll try Animal rear boot again as it's been sitting on shelf for years.
  24. FYI it's a Syndicate V type R. Looks like this
