It's been bad in central Iowa too. I skied for the 1st time on Tuesday. Didn't get the boat in until June 30th...
-
@colo_skier, if you are going thru the Des Moines area on your way to the great white north, you will drive right past our lake near Huxley IA. Let me know when you will be through, hopefully we will have our boat in by then.... We're getting a slow start to the season, but did snow ski A-Basin last week!

Spending 2 months in Colorado this winter! Ski about 5-6 days a week.

This is what I've used for over 10 years, I do have floateyes attacehd so they don't sink.

@chef23 & @6balls, sometimes it's good to back off on the amount of weight you lift and focus on strengthening the suporting tendons & muscles. You can do this by doing lighter weights in an unstable environment, or by also dropping the amt of weight & using the Fat Gripz for a while. The meatheads at my gym swear by the Fat Gripz, no more tendonitis from heavy lifting. I always had trouble with tendonitis prior to becoming a personal trainer, but now that I know what to do it does't bother me anymore.
-
OK, do any of you guys lift weights during the off season? I am a personal trainer, you neeed to try Fat Gripz. They claim to help build grip & forearm strength, also help with tendonitis. I used them last winter & really noticed a difference in my grip & forearms. I use them about 1 time per week for lat pulls, seated rows, upright rows, & deadlifts. Now on the day you used these, you will initially need to drop your weight & possibly reps. They can make the exercises very hard! http://www.fatgripz.com/

Any one try a Camaro Speedskin for skiing?

Found this on STP, is made for tri atheletes like the one MS uses.
My O'Neill full suit that just doesn't fit very well.

Gregy, thanks! We bought the red & silver 03 listed in Chicago.

The T-Factor is one of the ones we were wondering about. I've heard it has great lateral support.
Anyone heard about the new HO Attack boots?
-
Any recommendations for replacing some HO Approach boots that are falling apart? Size 13, narrow, flat foot...
-
Brian, Does this boat have a solid black hull? We are in the market for a 196, not many available....
-
TW & MB are my favorite skiers to watch, what is it they do that other skiers don't? Or what is different in their skiing? To me their skiing is about the closest to snowskiing, except for maybe JB.
-
We are also looking for a 2007-2009 196, not too many available.... I do think MS should sell their club boat to us, it is obsolete! You should be training behind a current boat.
-
Had to be over 90 on our lake in Iowa, I dropped at the south end & the water was hot! It was our 4th day of 100+.

I used the women's version of the non-USCG for several years. It has a little more flotation than most non-USCG vest, but not as bulky as the USCG vests. You are right, it is heavier than most, but very comforatable. My biggest complaint was the dry time... I did like the lumbar support, I miss it in my current vest.

I usually need wind < 10mph to ski. Over 10 out of the north or south it can be pretty rough on our lake. so far this summer it has been about once every 5-8 days... we are having the hot, dry, windy Kansas weather here in Iowa.
-
MS, I agree. I always feel like I should put the ski away & get out a wakeboard when skiing behind the MC.
-
Mrs MS, trick mode in 196 would work. I think I've done that a few times by accident. OR you could come ski behind our 1993 Sport Nautique, not much difference than the Deathstar... Kelly is very determined!!! Don't underestimate her (& Kenna's) will to ski behind the 196!
-
Mrs MS, us 'girls' need to whine, cry, bitch, etc... what ever it takes to get the 196 for next Saturday's tournament. It worked for Kelly last year! We DO NOT want our Deathstar.
-
They normally try to get 3 rounds in for sourthern canadians if they need to leave before sunday, but it usually depends on how long trick & jump take... Might not have jump, it was torn apart in last Sunday's storm.
-
There is a chance that the Southern Canada 2 weeks of summer could be over by then. Possiblity of snow? Are you still coming to the IA State tournament? Our lakes are like bath water, could be like hot tub by next weekend.

My husband did this several years ago. We found a headband at a competetive swimsuit shop, he looked like a 4 year old when wearing it! Walgreen's had the moldable ear plugs. This combination kept him skiing until it healed.
-
I'm a nerd... I've skied with Oakley Water Jackets for years. They used to save my contacts, but with disposables it's not an issue any more. I really just like blocking the glare from the wate & sun.

Nate is AWESOME! I grew up eating homegrown Iowa popcorn, that has to be better than Indiana... What's my excuse? I have a D3...
Age of your primary ski machine.
