  1. I just bought 2 of the $60 version. Works great.
  2. Disconnect the cable from the tiller arm and check how easily the rudder turns when not connected to the cable.
  3. @adamhcaldwell what did you see that made you suggest more depth? Just curious.
  4. For me the biggest problem is implementation. Why ALL active skiers? The low hanging fruit here is officials, truthfully officials above assistant would be best, along with tournament directors and aspiring officials (assistant chiefs, etc). Doing this you get most of the perceived benefit and eliminate the barrier to entry for new skiers. You'd have probably 25% or more of people at a tournament trained. Everybody wins. This across the board edict from on high makes it that much harder for the first time participant, not to mention it feels like a knee jerk reaction from leadership without much thought. For those that have already voluntarily invested a ton of time getting ratings the training is kind of in the noise, another box to tic. Still don't want to take the training, dump your ratings and just ski.
  5. I would LOVE to see a poll of peoples dominant political view (left, right, independent) versus position on this issue. Verboten I realize but a guy can dream, right?
  6. Liability, aka insurance, is why this is even being discussed. You can make the argument that those in supervisory positions over youth should have the training, possibly even some levels of officials in USAWS. Every active member? That really serves no useful purpose. Me: Hey, why don't you come out and ski in our tournament? Non-tournament skier: Sounds fun, what do I need to do? Me: Buy a USAWS membership for $85, pay the tournament entry fee, then go home and take a 90 minute course that has nothing to do with skiing. Then you'll be good to go! Non-tournament skier: Nah, too much trouble. I'll just go the lake and ski with my friends. Grow the sport!
  7. @Horton "The ONLY reason I can see why we would object to SafeSport is the required background checks / invasion of privacy. I am not on board with that objection but at least it is logical." And we accept this for anyone that wants to strap on a ski and participate in a tournament? Seems pretty invasive.
  8. @NikolG using that argument the USAWS solution would be like anyone conducting business with an establishment employing minors must have the training. Supervisors makes some sense.
  9. Requiring this of all active members is a bit much in my opinion. Makes sense if you are directly involved in activities supervising youth like coaching, JD, etc. Otherwise not so much.
  10. @Wish my first ski was behind a boat very much like that one.
  11. @OscawanaSkier I'm in your situation exactly. I've been using a 12, no insole and heat molding the liner. You can actually get the toes lose if you put on enough toe caps during molding. That's not really what you want but point being you should be able to fit them to your liking, tight or lose or anywhere in between.
  12. @DW so there is an orifice inside the wye to reduce flow? What size?
  13. Here's a better price on that Wye. No first hand experience with this part, but it's half the price. https://www.universalpartsinc.com/shopping/productdetails.aspx?i=1106082&c=10556
  14. Skied first time since early December last Tues, and boy are my arms tired.
  15. Best ski ever. Wish I could ride a 64.
  16. I had a coach ask me a question about what I wanted to be doing at some point in the course. I fumbled and bumbled my words and couldn't formulate a cogent answer. His comment to me was you should be able to tell me what you're trying to accomplish at every point in the course. Until he said that it never even occurred to me to try. So I went and tried to write it all down. Was that ever enlightening! I had pieces and parts but nothing continuous. I even found some contradictory ideas. That one comment was SO helpful to my understanding, right or wrong, of my skiing. These discussions are even more helpful now that I have an idea what I think I want to achieve everywhere in the course.
  17. As much rattling on about ski flex as there is I'd think the old sequence approach to binding mounting would get more love. I don't think the current sequence has the same feature. I agree leaving some screws lose with locktite is not a good idea A buddy of mine rode a new ski with his then current binding setup velcro attached and skied well on it. He then moved to a new double binding system with a single screwed down plate, same shells, and never had any success on the same ski. He figured it was due to change of ski flex. I tend to think he's right. One data point.
  18. Common sense is not that common.
  19. I found some debris at the inlet to the fuel cell in mine. There is a small metal screen behind the barbed fitting at the inlet to the fuel cell. Remove the barbed fitting then check and clean the screen. You can also check the flow of the fuel return line to the gas tank. At idle it should be a steady flow. That was how i figured out there was a restriction in my fuel system. Just be super careful there are no ignition sources and to capture the returning fuel. I think I was able to get my fuel return line up to the fuel tank fill opening for the test. Two cheap and easy tests.
  20. More water time, more quality coaching, better fitness.
