  1. I was at a tournament a couple of weeks ago and saw national champ Tim Henderson using one.
  2. Clearly I screwed this up. I have the Denali CG and not the classic. I set it up lats year to Goode factory settings only moving it back slightly as per @AdamCord suggestions. Not sure if the fin moved but I am going to set the fin back to Goode factory using my slot caliper and see how it goes.
  3. Anyone one else on a 68" XTR and using a CG fin? The CG fin is an improvement on the XTR. Tip stays down and I believe I get better angle. I am RFF and occasionally the ski seems to not want to turn but run straight at the apex of 1,3,5. Sometimes I fall over at the finish of 2,4,6... all of which I believe is more technique then anything else. However, I am curious what everyone else is using for settings. currently I am using 6.778, 2.516 and .650
  4. Before I got the CG fin I was using a washer under the fin block. I got a new ski and then the CG fin and never replaced the washers. Does anyone use a CG fin and washers on a non denali ski?
  5. Not really a modification boot i used an intuition liner which allows more ankle flex. Just curious if anyone tried anything else with success.
  6. Went snow skiing last week and watched the New Zealand ski team running gates. I noticed that the kids had what looked like riser plates under their bindings. Got me thinking, I often hear that it's best to have yours feet right on the ski. I read that Andy Mapple removed the rubber from his binding so he could be flat on the ski. In another thread about rear toe plates Bruce Butterfield mentioned that he liked having non skid instead of thick padding. Why?
  7. Thinking of picking up the HO binding and what to know if they made any modifications. Thank you!
  8. I have been on a reflex black cuff for about 10 years and I think its time to upgrade. What is everyones experience with the HO syndicate boot? does it allow for enough ankle flex. If not I think I will buy the Reflex white cuff.
  9. Bummer! wish you a very speedy recovery.
  10. @tjones999 I don't think the CG gauges would need to go to 12. I think most people aren't running more then 7 degrees. Others can chime in but I will order 5-7 if that works.
  11. @Chad_Scott is a 68" big enough for a skier who weighs 230 skiing 34mph?
  12. @AdamCord I am going forward! The only comment from my ski partner was, that tip stays down on both sides. The tip stays down with no slack. I am RFF and used to get tip rise on 1,3,5 but the CG fin has really improved this ski. Going to try factory at .705, the XT could use more speed! Again, thank you for the great product and your willingness to answer all my questions.
  13. I broke my ribs on an Elite.
  14. Thanks @AdamCord! Got the fin forward to .701 and it really helped. Good angle of the ball and an improvement over the stock fin. I am getting close to the factory setting on DFT, what should I expect if I move it to .705? I appreciate you taking the time to help.
  15. Help @AdamCord I had the Cg fin on my XTR and really liked what was happening. Plenty of angle off the ball and was able to stay connected with lots of space going into the next buoy. really like the CG fin over the stock fin. Unfortunately I had a fall and somehow damaged the ski so I am back on my old XT. RFF and set the XT up 6.762, 2.500, .683 and wing at 6deg. It feels like the tip is grabbing on both sides. Also coming out of two ball at 32off, even though it feels like the tip suddenly grabs, I have no angle and ski right to 3 and makes it impossible to round 4. thoughts?
  16. I shared this video with a friend who used to be involved in boat racing and his response was, it looks like the motor seized. He said that is exactly what a race boat does when a motor seizes and the prop stops abruptly. Still... that was some bad driving and my guess would have been they ran over buoys/cables and that is what caused the accident.
  17. I just read Bruce Butterfield's comments about the wing on a CG fin in another thread and now I am wondering if I have to much wing. I am using the standard Goode wing at 9.5. Any thoughts before I try and get two sets in tomorrow?
  18. Fin arrived last night and I se my XTR up to Goode factory with the exception of the DFT. 6.760 2.501 .673 and here are my observations Than.... What I don't like... This is not a Denali issue and I don't think they could change this and make the fin work for all the brands but, because of the way the top of the fin is cut, the set screws on my Goode fin block are of no use. I am set screw dependent and it made it really hard to set up the fin. The other issue is the old fin was .095 and the new fin is .088 thick. The thinner blade slides easier in the clamp. Again making it more difficult, for me, to set up. This is not a knock on Denali, its just on observation from someone who struggles to set up a fins. What I like... I struggle keeping the handle in off the second wake out to the buoy as I tend to load/over turn at the ball. I went out an ran 22 and 28 with more space before the ball and it felt like the ski and handle just stayed with me. When I went to 32 I over turned 1 and 3 but i got right back on the handle with plenty of space before 2 and 4. I wasn't punished for my mistakes. It really changed the ski! I only had time for a short set but I look forward skiing on it some more. Another observation, the ski hunts on the glide after the pull out. this is something new and it was a little unsettling as it was twitchy. More tip?
  19. I was #272 and it shipped Thursday.
  20. Is it all the parts, top sheet, bottom sheet and core working together? Or does the strength and flex characteristics come from the way the top sheet is laid up alone?
  21. What’s the difference between the Rev6 and the XT/XTR shape? I ask because I find it interesting that the XTR was new in 2018 and for 2019 Goode is going back to an older shape.
  22. I just ordered the fin. I will set the fin as suggested but I am confused about the wing. Set it at factory, buy a mini wing or ski with out one?
  23. Trying to help out a friend who has been on FM Quattro size 14 bindings for years. He wants to try something new but it looks like Reflex goes to 12 and HO to 13. Any other suggestions?
