  1. If you want to know anything about that boat and the pros and cons you should contact Ron Tanis 985-542-4336, he was with American Skier and know more about American Skier than anyone and would be glad to talk to anyone about them.
  2. MCSKIFreak I am in Covington which is about 40 minutes north of New orleans, You can give me a call 504-231-1331
  3. I drove and skied behind the Centurion that was used at Diablo Shores last year for the legends division. The boat drove fine, we added some weight in the nose, As we do for several of the boats. I drove Jay Leach from 28 off thru 39 off, He had positive comments about the pull, the wakes and the way it skied. As for driving at shortline, I thought it was fine, I would have done a little grinding on the rudder and added a little torque but It drove fine. I think for them to be successful they will have to get these promo boats out for around $35000 to make an impact in the 3 event water-ski market. I think at $40,000, they will have a difficult time breaking guys away from the Big 3. With that being said the boat will be fine for use in three event tournaments. I would not hesitate to use it at a tournament I was the Chief Driver. I welcome anyone else into the arena. I have mixed feelings about the rubber floor, but it sure would be nice to just hose out the boat after towing it in the rain or having it get drenched during an rain filled Louisiana afternoon. Just my 2 cents
  4. I have had towers on my last two Malibu promo boats and have not seen a problem with the tower interfering with the rope. CP and several other shortline skiers have skied behind the boat several times and there has not been an issue with the tower. So i would not really worry about having a tower on the boat. Cant beat the tower in Louisiana for boat resale.
  5. Thanks Shane, It is pretty cool to be associated with both records (if approved). I agree with Charles "Duuuuuuude", makes me feel like a wally for missing 39 so many times after watching her just power it down the course. She is a tremendous athlete and a great skier. Very Happy for her!! What an accomplishment to break a long standing world record, twice in a weekend!
  6. Jody, Thanks for letting me come over to SRB and drive the tournament, We had a great weekend, and as you said saw some great skiing. Awesome skiing by Regina, I think she will definately up the record a little more, she has it figured out and can get the full two. Not a bad weekend for her, two new records and only skied 3 of the 6 rounds to do so. I look forward to seeing what she can do in 2011. Joe, I will have to talk Regina into Cottonwood in June for 6 more rounds!!!
  7. Jody, Thanks for the use of the 200. I skied behind it on Saturday and drove it. Boat drove great and did feel a little firm, I ran 39 behind it but some skiers did feel as though the boat was a little firm. Charles Mueller (Dockside Marine, Houston, Texas Correct Craft dealer) while enjoying some tasty adult beverages following the tournament offered up his boat for Sunday which was a 5.7. So at about 10:30 pm, Charles contacted Shane Hill and told him we could get him in the tournament which was full. So Shane drove all night and brought their boat for the next day. As a promo team member, I appreciate you and Charles making your boats available for the tournament.
  8. The decision was made to slow the boat down in the night finals and agreed upon by the skiers. The four skiers in the finals chose the speed which was 35.5. During the finals' JB and Will both ran 38 off, then JB ran 39 off. I was sitting at the end and was watching Willy as he came back at 39. From where I was sitting and having watched him ski during the weekend it was obvious that he was getting really deep at the buoys at his 39 off pass. I did not really know at that point what had happened. As I was bringing JB back towards the crowd, Willy was waving his ski in the air trying to get our attention (I thought he was just making sure I saw him in the water and did not run over him) He told the boat that the speed was not right and it felt really slow. As we compared boat times, the were consistently about .13 slower throughout the course. I dont remember all of the numbers but for example. I had a 1.71 time at one ball with JB, Willys time was a 1.84 and it was consistently slow throughout the entire run. I dont know what happened in the boat but it was obviously a disadvantage to ski that much slower than JB. The judges granted Willy a re ride and JB elected not to ski. So Willy won the event. It was unfortunate but shit happens. I was at nationals yesterday and saw two rerides granted during one of the womens events due to a speed control issue, I am amazed that it is not a headline on the forums today. The most important thing that happened this weekend is that there was a huge crowd who despite the reride witnessed a great event that featured the best waterskiers in the world. This was the best event I have ever been to or been a part of and the large crowd that was in attendance enjoyed the event which featured slalom, jump, freestyle jump, barefooting and show skiing at a venue in the middle of the city of Milwaukee. Hats off to Dana Reed and those responsible for bring this event to this venue, It is a great start and just what the sport of waterskiing needed. There are bad things, bad calls and controversial decisions that occur in every sport its part of competition and things happen but the show must go on. Professional Football, baseball and basketball players etc keep playing even when a call doesn't go their way. Waterskiing finally had an audience and the show must go on. Best watersking event I have ever been to and look forward to next year. Great skiing by JB and Willy, they both ran 39 off twice in the prelims in less that ideal conditions.
  9. 8:02 p.m. Do you have the Goode Power Buoys for the nigh time skiing portion of the tournament????
  10. MS, Give me the dates, I might be available
  11. I drove one this weekend during our six round record tournament. It was a 200 equipped with a 5.7 litre engine. I pulled Chris Parrish, Dave Miller and Ty Oppelander at 36 mph. The boat was turning 4400 rpms @ 36 and 4200rpms@ 34. Boat drives great, high rpms did not seem to effect the scores of those skiing behind the boat. From a driver's standpoint it does sound as though you are screaming down the lake turning those high rpms. But a great driving boat. It does use considerably more fuel than the other two boats pulling the same number of skiers.
  12. Well if we are back to the subject of the Mid WIde, I want to say that even as the water is starting to warm up down here in south Louisiana, the ski continues to feel really good. I am also getting the same sort of reports from Dean in Dallas who is continuing to enjoy his mid wide as well. If someone is looking for a new ski to try, this mid wide is definalely worth the try. As for all of the negative discussions regarding Goode's customer service, I have seen Dave go above and beyond with several individuals in this area regarding skl issues, several that were not and should not have been covered by the warranty and Dave stepped up and helped these customers out. If you are looking to purchase a new ski, draw upon your own experiences and not the experiences that people are hearing about second and third hand. I have been on Goode Skis since the 9100 and have not had issues with the skis as long as you take care of them and use the system as Dave recommends that it be used. Bottom Line is if the ski performs for you and you are skiing to your potential on the ski then it is worth riding. If you are looking for the latest a greatest as we all do each ski year then I would recommend giving the mid wide a go and see for yourself.
  13. As for forgiving, I think the ski is very forgiving. The added with to the ski makes the ski more forgiving. It allows you to move around a little and not effect the ski as much as a traditional skinnier ski would. As far as settings bindings 29 1/4 , depth 2.50, length with Slot calipers 6.825, and dft .720. I have also talked with Dean in Dallas (probably the one MS was watching this weekend) and he is having the same experience on the ski, Loves it!!!! Definately worth a try.
  14. Ok Back to the orignal topic, questions about the mid wide?? I have been skiing on the new mid wide since last October. I mounted it up in a record tournament and skied very good on it. It is the perfect combination for those who do not like the wide ride and are looking for a little more stability than the traditional ski. The tip of the ski stays up during the turn and allows the ski to keep moving. I think this ski is awesome for 34 mph skiers who are looking to maintain speed thoughout the turn. I am on the 65 inch and weigh about 185 pounds, this ski is incredibly fast across the course and will turn on a dime. I also skied on a wide ride last year. Although I really liked the wide ride, I always felt like I was skiing buoy to buoy and did not create any space in front of the buoy as you do on a traditional ski. This mid wide allows you to create space in front of the buoy and gives you a shorter radius turn similar to the wide ride. I am actually having fun skiing on it and look forward to getting on the water everyday. If you are in the market for a new ski it is definately worth a try.
