  1. @mlange If yours pulled the Malibu Open the rudder has a small amount of grinding on it as well as the Rudder tab pulled out. Those boats were set up and drove really well. Lots of 39s run behind it
  2. I do a small amount of grinding on the rudder. I place the rudder tab out with approximately 1/8 inch of space. The TXI without a tower does not seem to need weight in the nose. With a tower and the taller bimini top you may want to add a little weight to the nose of the boat. However the TXI is a great driving boat and should not require much in the way of set up. I have gone to different lakes and driven other TXI's and have had the same experiences

  4. @ Stevie Boy The graphics that your guys are looking at (bitching about) are not defects or blemishes. You are looking at pure NANO Carbon Fiber. It is how Goode intentionally designed the NANO ONE to look. It was Nick Parsons who suggested to Dave Goode to remove the two opaque acrylic layer from the top and bottom of the NANO ONE that in past models would hide the carbon from being seen. Nick thought it would be really cool to see the raw carbon after shopping for a high end road racing bike ($9,000.00+) which looks just like the NANO ONE, carbon waves and all. The carbon waves, wrinkles and bunches help make for an interesting look and do not take away from performance. There is actually performance benefit from the removal of the acrylic layers too as the ski is now 1/4 pound lighter. As Confucius says..... Better a diamond with a perceived flaw than a pebble without. Just FYI, Try the ski before you send it back, it seems to really be working for a lot of people, I wish he would have just let a few of us test it for a year or so before releasing it to the public, i believe it is that GOODE

  6. The boats definately have something do to with it. The new TXI tracks very well and makes driving them easy. The water was down about two feet and the lake was skiing awesome. We are going to talk to the parks department next year about possibly pumping the water to the same level. As far as extra docks and etc, we have to be out of the park on Sunday so the less things we have to tear down the better it is. We were at the park until about 2 am getting it torn down. All of the skiers pitched in and helped with something this year which made moving out much easier. This was a great event with and incredible level of skiing that I dont think has been seen at any another professional ski tournament. Skiers ran 39 and didnt make the first cut, then 3 at 41 is a runoff for the second cut. Hats off to these skiers who stepped it up in every way and made this an awesome event. We are looking forward to making next years Malibu Open even better. Kelvin worked his but off all weekend to make sure the webcast was rolling. Great Job and thanks to Malibu Boats for their continued support of the event
  7. Marc, you should tell the whole story, this was not a trick rope that I ran over. I ran over the rope underneath the water which was for the 55 bouys that were removed. I need a boat with sonar. I did also kill a duck while pulling Mens 4 Slalom
  8. It was not the same ski from Atlanta or the Masters Same ski design as the ski from Masters and Atlanta pro am. However the ski from Cedar Ridge was a brand new ski with a few minor tweaks as Dave finalizes the ski design. The first set on the ski was on Saturday evening. Second ride on the ski was 3@41 first round on Sunday. I am sure Dave will have a press release available in the next few days. The ski is built with the Nano Carbon Technology. Ski performs very well great water conditions but seems to be very good in not so ideal conditions. A few 39s run on the ski in Atlanta. When released this ski is definately worth a try.
  9. New Ski coming out a few weeks before Nationals. Completely new ski design top to bottom. Ski is incredible and unlike any ski made by Dave before. There have already been some great performances on the ski.
  10. I think there are a host of opinions out there regarding Andy skiing in the Big Dawg Series, I have an appreciation from two different perspectives. First and foremost as a Skier, I would love the opportunity to ski against Andy Mapple and/or Jeff Rodgers. I mean who wouldn't. As someone who has organized a Big Dawg prior to it becoming part of the series and then hosting part of the series, I understand some of the concerns regarding Mapple skiing in the Big Dawg. At the qualifiers, the prize or purse is derived from the entry fees. The host site is responsible for the purse. If the tournaments dont fill up then it doesn't cover the cost. I think the guys from Cypress will tell you that they barely broke even last year with around 40 entries. So as a tournament organizer you need the guys that are skiing for the 15- 16th seed and looking for a shot at the head to head. This series when it was created was a place for amatuer Mens 3,4,5 skiers to compete against each other for a little bit of money. Usually barely enough to cover the expense of the tournament. Over the years several former pros have migrated to the Big Dawg Series and there seems to always be some concern over the series turning into a senior pro tour, which was not the idea the series was created on. But it has happened and has been a positive for the series. It has stepped up performances of skiers across the board. And Andy's presence will do the same. As we have over the years allowed the pros to come to the Big Dawg, I think we should modify the format to continue to encourage those guys that are skiing just for an opportunity to make the head to head. I mean obviously if Andy or Jeff ski, they are fairly certain to always occupy a spot in the sweet 16. So you will loose some of the guys that will not spend the money to travel and ski the event if they think they dont have a chance of advancing having a chance at the head to head. I think a solution that would encourage more participation regardless of the presence of former pros is to expand the Head to Head on Sunday. Instead of taking 16 take 20, give the top 4 guys a bye and create a larger bracket. This would certainly increase participation and ones chances of getting the chance to ski against some of the icons of the sport. Greg Badal came up with an idea of a 35 mph Division which did not get much support from USA Waterski "imagine that". It would be nice to create a senior pro tour and give the former professionals a division to ski at 35 mph, I think if the truth were known, that neither Jeff or Andy really like skiing 34. And certainly with a list of skiers such as Mapple, Rodgers etc, there would be sponsorship opportunities within the industry. Greg does one of the best formated tournaments I have been to. The Diablo Shores Pro Am features skiers of all levels. The past few years he has hosted a legends division along with OM, OW, MM and every other division. I think this is a great discussion and I think Andy is a class act that is trying to do what he feels is the right thing. He just want to compete because its in his blood and we as skiers and tournament organizers with the same passion should look for ways to be creative and include anyone who wants to compete in the sport we all love. I am considering trying to host an event as I suggested. 34mph top 20 into the Head to Head and I hope I can get Andy and Jeff to compete.
  11. As a participating member of the Big Dawg Ski Tour, I think I speak for everyone when I say that none of us are looking to take away from the accomplishments of the pro skiers. I hosted the second Big Dawg tournament in Louisiana. In the beginning, the tournament was a format for amateur skiers to have an opportunity to compete against each other in a head to head format. This was very appealing to guys to have the opportunity to compete in a format that put you directly against someone else, rather than going to a tournament and skiing for a rating. As far as taking money from the pros, I think it is just the opposite. In the beginning, the Big Dawg Qualifiers each paid $5000.00 in prize money, which was basically the entry fees for the 50 competitors. At this time the qualifiers only pay out $3000.00, with first place being $1250.00 (barely enough to cover the cost of travel to a tournament). As a skier, I look forward to having the opportunity to ski in the same events as the pro skiers and have the opportunity to watch these guys as they battle each other as well. I can tell you for the most part, I believe the pro skiers dont have a problem with the Big Dawg skiers being involved in the events they are skiing. This weekend at the Moomba, several of the Pro Skiers, showed up to watch and support the event. These guys have always been nothing but supportive of us at the events. I always appreciate guys like CP, Nate, Billy, Will and all the other guys who go out of there way to be supportive of us when we are at these events. As I said earlier, I haven't ever gotten the impression that the professional skiers have a problem with the Big Dawg Skiers at the event. I think the mixture of the two is good for skiing. It shows that skiing is a sport that you can do for years to come. I am sure that Marcus did not intent to stir up this much attention to his tweet. The Big Dawg is a series that give amateurs a chance to compete against each other. The format is good for skiing. Spectators understand when there is a winner and a loser, whether they have any idea what rope length is involved. I think that instead of complaining about the sport not being big enough to support two tours, Marcus should get involved in helping to obtain outside sponsors to support the pro tour. Be part of the solution not the problem. Having the opportunity to work with Dana Reed and the Pro Ski Tour, I can tell you that no one works harder than Dana Reed in trying to obtain sponsorship dollars to operate a Pro Ski Tour for skiers like Marcus Brown. I have participated in the process of soliciting sponsorship dollars to maintain the pro ski tour, its not easy. Just think of the dollars that would be available if every open skier was able to obtain one sponsor outside the industry. There are usually on average 30-35 skiers in Open Men and 12-15 Skiers in Open women. If each one of these skiers was able to come up with one outside sponsor from their own contacts, I am sure Dana Reed would happily accept it for the Tour. Dana Reed's goal is always to get as much money as possible to give to the athletes. So get involved be creative and help to support your own tour to keep pro skiing alive. Dana, now with the help of a few people is tasked with raising money for the pro ski tour. April Coble voluntarily took a majority of this load off of Dana and is spear heading the fund raising effort for the pro sko tour. She gets it and understands what it takes. Its time to stop complaining and ban together to make the pro ski tour grow and continue for years to come. I look forward to skiing in the Diablo Shores Pro Am tournament which again will allow the MM skiers to ski at the event with the Pros. Not to take away from them but because I am a fan of pro water skiing and enjoy the opportunity to ski at the same venue with the best skiers in our sport
  12. Shane, All of the vest and neoprene products are made in the USA the only products he gets from overseas is the drysuit he sells. Everything else is made in the USA. If you see Andy skiing somewhere he is usually wearing an eagle vest as well
  13. Shane and OB are right. The video that is posted is from two seasons ago and my gates were very inconsistant. I hope my skiing improved last year. I was much more consistent on my gate and pull out. I am trying to control the speed on the way up on the pull out. I have shortened my glide time and utilize much more front foot pressure as I turn in for the gates. This has enabled me to move around less on the ski and not load the shoulder so much out of 1-3-5 causing zero off to talk to me. I think the gates on these videos are terrible and very inconsistent and because of those gates I am running a very late line and skiing downcourse. This year i skied a lot with CP and worked on a gate that controlled the speed thru the course and it seemed to help me become more consistent
  14. The wakes are better at 15 and 22 off beyond that I thought the LXI was a great boat too. The new TXI is an improvement across the board. But if just looking to upgrade your boat and land in a good boat the 2011 is a great boat, I also have a 2011 identical to Regina's if you know anyone else interested. Feel free to contact me cscott1968@hotmail.com
  15. Tru jack this is a very good driving and tracking boat. Jody and I have driven the boat in several tournaments. Dennis would probably be the best person to contact regarding this boat. He is trying to find a home for it. I have driven and skied behind the txi which is also a great driving and tracking boat. the wakes behind the txi at slower speeds are better than the lxi.
  16. MS, I have to disagree, I think the boat drives and tracks much better than the previous LXI's. The hull is much wetter, similar to the CC. I have heard several CC's owners that have even complimented the wakes (hard to believe) My son starts at 24.9 mph and goes up to 30 the wakes are much improved at the slower speeds.
  17. As a person that skied the Mens 3 Division, it was certainly not the conditions I expected. I really enjoyed the site last year thought it skied great. Competition is competition good or bad conditions. Hats off to Jason for enduring these conditions. I skied like a "p#ss" and got beat. Was not the best skier on that day and as they say thats why we play the game. That why we do what we do, I will be back and ready for WPB next year. I always enjoy the opportunity to compete and will look forward to next year.
  18. I have driven and skied behind the 2012 TXI, the wakes are much improved for slower speeds and the boat drives better than the 2011. It tracks better and the hull feels a little wetter in the water. We utilized the boat in a class C tournament, several of the kids skiing at speeds from 25 mph and above set PB's behind the boat. My son is 9 and starts at 25 mph and was able to keep the ski down and cross the wakes very easily. Actually one of the PB's and keeps asking me when I will have a new one. Several people that are normally hard core CC owners even complemented the 22 off wakes at 34 mph. This is going to be a great boat for 2012. Visibility much better and they did get rid of the chrome dash plate.
  19. CP did got from 35 to 41 unknowingly. He started his set and ran up the line to 41 off as he came around 3 ball at 41 off he fell. The boat judge realized that the dome of the bubble buoy had come off and was actually floating about 6 inches wide of the bouy itself So Parrish was granted a re ride. It took approximately 10 minutes to repair and replace the buoy. CP apparently did not understand the rule, he thought he was starting over so he went out at 35 (which was an unscored warmup based on the 10 minute delay) after the warm up pass the rope was shortened to 41 off. Chris ran it and came out the gates asking if they double shortened the rope. He scored 1 1/2 @ 43, the following round he ran 41 off again.
  20. Is that a yes for your Horton, Should I sign you up
  21. Hey guys, Dana Reed has agreed to allow a Masters Men event to be run in conjunction with the Global Invitational Pro Event in Grand Rapids on July 9 and 10th. We will take the first 25 entries into the tournament. Entry Fee will be $200.00 and all of the entrie fees will be used for the prize money. We will have a minimum purse of $5000.00 and pay the top 8 spots. There are a few interested additional sponsors for the event so the purse may be higher. 2 qualifying rounds will be held at Placid Waters in Grand Rapids on Saturday and the the top 8 will advance to the finals on Sunday. We will run 8 down to 4 for the final head to head which will also be run on Sunday with the Pro Event held in Millenium park. This event is expected to draw several thousand spectators and should be a great event for the Masters Men to be a part of. If you are interested in supporting this event please contact me at cscott1968@hotmail.com
  22. Well I finally received a couple of the 65 mid nano twist from Dave Goode. Wow what a ski. The Nano Carbon is no gimmick. This ski is much faster than the 9900 mid ride and with the twist and two different rockers, there is no off side. As Dave Miller said the ski goes out and comes right back underneath you and accelerates quickly to the other side. I have four sets on the ski and so far it feels pretty incredible. The new carbon feels stiffer and definately rebounds quicker than the old carbon which allows for quick acceleration on the back side of the buoy. Last years mid ride was a great start and I thought was a great ski but there is no comparison to the Nano twist, this ski is on another level. Looking forward to testing the other ski which is a little softer than the first one I tried. With the new carbon the ski does not need to be as stiff in my opinion. After just a couple of sets that is my .02 cents so far. Looking forward to some sets on it this week
  23. That is correct John and what Dave has told me about the ability to place inserts into the new skis is that he is working with a plug that will accept inserts in the 9960 and the Fire which he has not used before. Dave still believes that from a performance standpoint with carbon composite that it is still best when used with the interlock system. He has heard the rumbling regarding inserts and it going have models that will be able to utilize inserts.
  24. The new mid ride is the nano twist as shown in the photo with Dave Miller. New carbon and a new design which includes a twist and offers two different rockers for on and off side turns.
  25. Well here is a bit of additional news from Goode Skis.. For all of you asking for inserts from Goode he will be offering inserts in two of the new ski models. There is a new ski coming out that will be called the 9960 (it is equivalent to the 9900 with new graphics)Â this ski will have new graphics and will be offered with inserts or the ability to screw into the ski. There is also a new price point ski, called the "FIRE", this ski is not an assymetrical ski and will be offered at around $1000.00. Dave is doing away with the 2 week demo program and offering a 30 day money back guarantee. In addition, and as a result of customer feedback, Goode Skis will have a lifetime warranty on the ski. So let the discussion begin!!!
