  1. Maybe I need to drill some holes. Mine are all the way back at 30.75". It would be interesting to see what 30.25" would feel like.
  2. I think a pull is $5 in BA and an around the world is $10. Not sure about skiing.
  3. I had mine at 31.25 and it didn't feel right. I was ok coming off the ramp, but as I would push forward it felt like the tips wanted to drop, so I would back off and the tips would come flying up and I would land on mt heals and smack my head real hard. I moved the binders back to 30.75" last night and it made a world of difference. I could push all the way to the landing. I think I will email Ron out of curiosity. Thanks for the info.
  4. That is great. Thanks for doing this. Maybe I can be an original jump baller. First question, where do you mount the binders on 94" Goodmans?
  5. Klinger, do other boats have to stay 500 feet away from your boat, because you have a diver down? I'm just jealous, nice looking boat.
  6. Skibrain, I swear you stole some of my family pictures. Those are awesome.
  7. MS, that was a good ski Skibrain, I was only 11 but I had that same ski, jacket, and haircut. But where are you Casad gloves? I know you had to have the orange and yellow, or did you go green and blue?
  8. I've always switched to a slight inside edge to carry me up on the boat, but I'm an idiot. So, what do I know?
  9. I skied in a tournament behind an outboard Hydrodyne. My first tournament trick, slalom, and jump skis were all wooden. The jump binders were so big I had to wear several pairs of socks to make them fit. so water logged they wouldn't float in the water. I remember when your buddy had to sit under the ramp and splash it with water between passes, and he would always throw some water up infront of you as you came off the ramp. I've seen Camille Duvall topless. I remember when wings first came out. Not the band. I remember when tournaments were so packed with skiers, that if you were not in the water with your ski on ready to go, they would ski you. I remember when your only handle choice was supplied by the tournament. I've skied with a double handle and a ski belt, and I'm only 42
  10. Ken, The board will go down, because there is nothing to stop it from going down. The wing wants to go down also, but it isn't large enough to create enough force to bring the ski tail down. I believe, due to the size of the wing, compared to the lenght of your ski. A wing is about 1 inch or so long, while skis are around 67 inches long. The length of the ski, gives it leverage on the wing, and it is too strong to allow the small wing to pull it down. Now, if you put a large enough wing on the fin it would bring the tail down. I don't believe you could actually ski on it though. When you were holding the board behind the boat, it wanted to pull you off the platform. So you can see that it is creating drag. The drag on the ski plus the pull on your body from the boat forces the nose of the ski down. Just my thoughts.
  11. Ral, I would be interested to hear. I agree on the angle. One of my first sets on my new ski I pulled out for the gates, and didn't realize how much faster the new ski was going to be. I looked into the boat and laughed as I blew by the gates. Decided to turn in anyway, I missed the gates late by 3-5 feet and still ended up running the pass. It kind of opened my eyes a little on gates.
  12. In case anyone has a similar problem, here is what I did that worked for me. I first remeasured my front boot. Because it s a Wiley I cannot put it at the recommended 30", so it was either 29.8" or 30.3". I went with 29.8. I then cut my plates, so that I could move my rear binder one hole closer. I've always like my feet touching anyway. I shortened up the fin from 6.855 to 6.841 and moved the DFT from .795 to .775. The fin shallowed up a little to from 2.514 to 2.512, was trying to keep it the same, but that was the closest I could get. The ski was much, much better. Ran one of the easiest 35's straight off the dock. I could have two handed it. Still managed to screw up 38, though. Thanks to everyone for their help, hopefully this info can help someone else.
  13. Cant type on phone. That would be before I change anything. And fin block
  14. Yeah, I'm going to remeasure everything before u change anything. That dim block believe it or not is better then the one on the sixam. Do you remember what you had the front binder set at. I want to say 30, but I don't remember now.
  15. I guess I need to get back out and try a bunch of things, and see what happens. After looking at Wade's info, I almost feel like I should reduce the tip and move the fin back. I guess I'll try that, and then put it back and try reduced depth to see what happens. Thanks for the ideas. Kind of glad and dissapointed that someone hasn't said, look you idiot all you have to do is ....
  16. 34, and it happens at 28, 32, 35, and 38.
  17. You should take a lesson from Freddy. The guy is an unbelievable jump coach. Something he told me that helped a lot was to keep everything square. Your shoulders, your hips, knees. Everything pointed in the same direction, and no matter where you are in your pull you should be in a position to kick the ramp. When your out just riding on your jumpers try changing to your inside edge as you come off the second wake. If you can do it then you can kick the ramp. Crazy thing is even letting off at the wakes and changing edges you will still end up infront of the boat.
  18. I'm very lucky to only live an hour from there. Great people and a great place to ski.
  19. I might be better off hitting with a hammer, with my fin adjusting skills. The best I can tell the fin and fin box are ok. I'm wondering if I have the dft wrong. Wouldn't moving it back help me finish the turn in my on side? It seems to pre turn ok, just doesn't want to finish. Not sure if i'm getting tip rise or if it is me trying to force the ski to finish the turn.
  20. I hit something with my ski and it moved my fin. I set it back at the settings I had written down but it feels different. It is very slow on my good side and hesitates at the finish of the turn, which causes me to lose angle. My bad side the ski turns really fast, maybe too fast. I'm getting a lot if angle. What setting do I change to speed yo my good side and slow down my bad side? I'm on a 68 elite with 6.85, 2.514, and. 795.
  21. I found this http://www.hickoksports.com/history/waterskiing.shtml. "Another manufacturer, Dan B. Hains, was asked to put together a water ski show for the 1939 New York World's Fair. The show's popularity inspired Hains to found the American Water Ski Association and stage the first national championships that year at Jones Beach State Park on Long Island. Hains created the sport's three competitive disciplines, slalom, tricks, and jumping, and formulated the rules. The jump ramp was made of wooden rollers to minimize friction and the slalom course was simply a straight line of buoys."
  22. Jody, I saw these numbers: Andy Mapple's Personal Settings(Rear Toe) Boots: 29.5" Length:6.837" (Tips) DFT: 0.785 " Depth: 2.510" Hope that helps.  Â
  23. Monte Carlo is just a short train ride from Milan. Got to go to a F1 race there once, it was awesome. The coolest part was I stayed in a hotel room one block of the race track, and I was awakened in the morning by one car running laps around the track. The sound echoed through the entire city. It was beautiful. The worst part, it was the year that Senna had gotten killed just a few races before. The Ferrari fans could put any NASCAR fan to shame. Those guys are crazy. Since this site is free, does that make us all free ballers?
  24. How about a ski set up guide. I'm terrible at that. With a section on "If you ski is doing this, change this" . The ones that are out there are very general and vague, and only include a few scenarios.Â
