  1. I think I'm gonna try the plastic baggie first...... :-)
  2. I think what I'm trying to figure out is this: is a wing a bandaid for poor technique where I fail to convert cross course speed into outbound direction? Meaning that if I have a wing on and I don't get good outbound then the wing slows me down enough that I don't get slack even though I didn't ski out to the end of the line anyway. Anybody know what I mean?
  3. In general terms relating to drag that slows a ski, isn't carrying speed through the turn a major factor in being able to hookup cleanly and therefore be early to the next buoy? If yes, can you have too much speed? If the answer to that is yes then maybe drag is good sometimes??
  4. I put on a 106 CBR and set it to more normal settings. No wing. Skied a set. No better on my outbound into my offside(however the feeling of the carbon fin is nice-it feels smoother and more forgiving). For the next set, I moved the boots back one hole and left the fin alone. That made a world of difference. I felt like I was able to execute the right technique for going out to the end of the line. I actually ran a pretty much tightline 32 for the first time in a while and with no wing so maybe there is hope.
  5. Leon just got your entry, btw. Are y'all gonna get into town early enough for a practice set on Friday?
  6. Chef thanks. I'm about to go work on my handle control!
  7. It's one those skis they forgot to put a core in. (warp 8) :-) Didn't he develop that fin for Goodes?
  8. It's got no angle because I've got it set short. If the ski turns my offside nicely is there really a need for a lot of length? And btw, not keeping the line tight all way out to buoy width is probably what's wrong.
  9. Horton, can you give your thoughts on this? Thanks
  10. I would get refugee status. I'm 6'0" and 160 or actually probably less after working outside during this heat wave! I don't know exactly what our water temp is but it's hotter than I've ever felt it in the last 8 yrs.
  11. He spins yarns too? Ialway want to buy whatever ski he is talking up.
  12. Haven't checked in a while but close to 160
  13. KTM, It was working well enough for me to run 35 yesterday. That's in pb range for me. I was trying a really shallow setting to lessen drag. Gave up on that. Went to approx 2.505 and it seems to hold the angle I get giving me more space at the next buoy. So maybe what Tsixam says is right.
  14. Horton, do you still ski without a wing? How do you handle the extra speed into the buoy? I have been skiing with a Schnitz speed fin with the built in wing. With the settings it's on the wing angle is pretty much zero. My reasoning for this setup is to reduce drag. Anyhow I reckon it's pretty similar to no wing at all. It feels great at 22 and 28 but I can't keep a tight line at 32.
  15. Am I understanding you right. You went from only running 15 to running deep 32 in three weeks?
  16. Ok, it was easier than I thought. I'm in for the buck and I'll do the 10 for next month if that works out.
  17. A million years is not that long :-) Krista, Alabama is a happening place to ski, specifically Athens AL. There is much to be said for Southern hospitality. Horton, can I just owe you a dollar? I don't have paypal and honestly don't want to register for anything else on the Internet. Lindsay Burgreen M3
  18. Thanks for the info. My lake is going to be be put into an LLC as soon as my current legal work (divorce) is done. As an individual owner the only way I can get liability coverage is through the USAWS/Global Marine program. $3900 a yr. Ouchy! But it covers the trespasser who falls in and drowns.
  19. AB, does your LLC use the lakeowner's liability insurance that Global Marine sells? Just curious..I use it but I actually don't know any other lakeowner that does.
  20. Ed, do you have a set of polyforms in stock now? I think I'm going to go with them regardless of the color issue.
  21. Mine we never covered with water. They were what I would refer to as junk. Ed, man would that ever be awesome if you could get polyform clued in on the color issue.
