  1. they showed up in my lake(mussels anyway, I'm assuming they're zebra) about 3 yrs ago. I have also been finding small(about one third the size of a pencil eraser) kind of translucent snail shell looking shells(empty) in the primary water strainer of my boat. I think MS said this maybe part of the life cycle of the mussel.
  2. Never mind the ski, just give us fashion pointers....I mean, top knot, blindingly cool shorts, ski glasses...we can only follow :-)
  3. Shiner is easier to spell but you get a pass on yeungling...ate some fried okra while ago...it was so good it would make you slap ya grandma...you'll missed the beginning of okra season by only a few days
  4. Cut up a truckload of okra and dump it in the lake. It will make the water feel southern. Hehehe
  5. Oops he won't come back at me though. I have blackmail on him. Jim Neely, where is Irmo? I may want to go to that.
  6. I'll try that too. Heck maybe we can learn together since I could barely run 32 in my own backyard tourney.
  7. It's only a 4 letter word. Ocra....I will eventually educate MS in the ways of Southern culture but the spelling problem may be hopeless.
  8. KTM, the S1 works for me. In my case the factory size reccomendation was off. I'm 162(34 mph) and I went with the 65. It's a solid ski that I can't find anything wrong with. Tight fast turns and easy enough across the wake. It's forgiving too. The times I have had too much tail slide with it was because I threw my shoulder down into the turn weighting the nose too much. When I stand on it right and think of carrying speed back to the wake the ski really delivers.
  9. Mr and Mrs MS made the the long journey from Minnesota to Alabama Friday for my 6 round Class C. It was an awesome weekend of friends and skiing. Despite a tender back MS rode the strada into 39 in practice and in competition. Mrs MS gave it a valiant effort as well. With a little confidence and some more hip/handle proximity control, I have no doubt she'll be running 15/34 in every tourney! Thanks to you'll for your help and good times. I also thank my club members for their work and Scooter Rambo for making sure we had a promo boat at our disposal. He sent a sweet Mastercraft 197 down for us to use on both days. I'd love to have any other BOS'ers come by and test the waters. So if you ever get a hankerin' to come 'Bama let me know. Area 41 won't dissappoint.
  10. They made a mold but aren't going to put it in their lineup? Can you give more info?
  11. The rear binding I used was off an old KD 7000. The holes didn't line up so I velcroed it on just so I could ski a few test sets. I have the wraps as loose as they would go. It just concerned me that I coouldn't easily get my foot out when I was done. I almost had to soap it again just to get out.
  12. I'm swithing to this setup after many years on double hardshells. Can somebody tell me how tight the rear boot should be to perform good and still be safe from a one on one off crash. I skied it for the first time today, the rear boot was loose enough that I could lift my heel off the footbed but at the end of the set it was pretty hard to get my foot out. Should it be loose enough that soap isnt needed? Any tips would be appreciated.
  13. Run six, maybe their pullout points are different and it's one skier at 34 and one at 36 but if you watch Chet's gate you will see him edge out, standup with both hands still on the handle, glide for a bit on a flat ski, drop his hand off, reach and then go, I see Terry doing the same thing...Terry's seems a little more drawn out but it's in slo motion too. The basic movements are the same.
  14. Scoke, sorry I missed you at Chet's. It would have been nice to meet a fellow BOS'er. The thing I noticed about the video of Terry was how muched it looked like video I have of CHet's gate from last fall. That was really all I was trying to say in my first post. When I was there thanksgiving, he had me doing the reverse course 2 ball to start my pass. It was a drill to make my turn in for the gate better. So, I was making a 2 ball turn at the first ball you come to on the left side. Anyhow, He would signal me when to pull out for that ball. After doing that drill many times over three days, I asked him what was the definitive marker when to pull out for that. He quickly said he was varying the mark by 20 ft and I hadn't even realized it. I think the point he was trying to teach me was that it all had to do with carrying the right amount of energy to that point where I wanted to turn. Hope that makes sense.  Does he try to convince you to try a one handed gate? Now that I think back I can't remember seeing anybody there do a two hander.
  15. Scoke, late November. What are your thoughts?
  16. That looks pretty much just like what Chet teaches. That's the one that works best for me.
  17. After having trouble like you had we figured out that assembling the release is a lot easier if you take the tension off the spring
  18. Horton?    I sure would like to see those babies on top of my S1
  19. Anybody know when the drawing is?
  20. The other thing is I have twice seen a handle pop rap the rope around the driver's neck. ÂÂ
  21. MS, I happened to see this a few minutes ago http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&wantid=SIA11041
  22. DW, the one I had in my last Nautique had snaps made into so it stayed in place pretty good. It bunched a little here and there but not bad. Check out the Corinthian Marine website. They seem to offer snap in carpeting as an alternative to traditional mounting (glued in I guess) so it would probably work for what you are looking to do
  23. ShaneH, thanks for the info. I will be calling them tomorrow.
  24. I just got my new(to me) 09 196. All I need now is some sunshine, a bimini, and those protective floormats that drop in and fit around the motor box. Does anybody have any suggestions for the best deal on a bimini and where to find the mats?
  25. lakeaustinskier, if you decide to go with an elite, I have a 65.5 first quality ski in very good condition that I can make you a really good deal on...$900 if you pay shipping, thanks, lkb
