  1. Make sure that the City has authority to make rules on use of the lake. In many states, the State is the only entity legally authorized to control use of navigable waters, the water that lies above the land. Developers get around this issue by owning all land around a body of water and putting in rules for the land owners that they must follow. In many states, if you can get legal access to a body of water without trespassing, you can use it as long as you comply with State law. Keep in mind every state is different, so check where you are located.
  2. If you can't track down the Charleston site, Just across the river and NE of Louisville is a private lake in Eminence, KY. I know the owner of the lake, Leon is on this Board and is a really good guy. Also other options around Louisville. Message me if you want details.
  3. Plus one for Tower Bimini. Using poles instead of straps makes a huge difference.
  4. We can go out mid day on a Saturday or Sunday and ski the course pretty much uninterrupted, with an occasional fisherman going through. Surprisingly, most are pretty courteous. Before moving to KY, we skied private lakes in the midwest and comparatively, this site is very good.
  5. We are in the Louisville area having recently moved from midwest. If in town, let me know and we can show you the Taylorsville Lake course. Even though public, the course is in a very protected cove, well maintained with little boat traffic and skis very well. Easy access to public boat ramp only two miles from course.
  6. The live stream is great! Both lakes. Shore and boat views live with commentary. Nicely done.
  7. I hate to tell all of you A type people, as you become old, your reflexes and strength decrease no matter how hard you work. That is why most professional athletes are done at 30. If you can't accept that, you will be in for great disappointment. Learn to adjust expectations as the years tick by.
  8. Thanks for the help. I will send them that way.
  9. I have a friend who is looking for a used Perfect Pass System for a 1999 Sport Nautique. Any referrals would be greatly appreciated.
  10. You could add perfect pass to that boat. If you want timing, magnets would be necessary, but are not necessary to operate the speed control.
  11. So no requirement to ski at Regionals?
  12. I have to admit, I saw that too
  13. Double check the size of your battery box. I found it hard to find the correct dimensional size to fit in the box of my 99 ski nautique.
  14. My biggest concern with the new ZBS system is that it makes every mens division speed 36. If you want to be competitive in your age group, you will have to ski 36 to score with the best. Do we really want to see Mens V and VI skiers trying to ski 36 to keep up with the big dogs?
  15. That looks like a pre '2001' Nautique. Absolutely brutal wakes.
  16. The rules are what the rules are. If you don't like the rules change them but don't put others down because they follow them. I agree, the current rules for MM don't make sense, but complaining that I could have done a lot better if the really good skiers in my division weren't there? It is Nationals after all, not a flighted, local club affair. I thought the intention of MM was to allow 34 mph skiers from all division ski against one another. Why does it have to be an either / or. Let them ski both so a true age division champ can be crowned and then let the best of the best ski against each other for our entertainment and determine a Grand Champion.
  17. I just saw the news on the new California water restrictions. Doesn't sound good. Any idea how this might effect ski lakes and their water use?
  18. Sometimes skiing behind a tough boat can actually improve some of your technique even though your scores are not as good. It can be good prep and make tournament passes seem easier.
  19. I like the idea of volunteer officials. Nationals typically has lots of regular and senior officials on site who do nothing because they were not appointed or asked to contribute. Still run the event as record but stop all the subsidies for the officials who are probably going to be there anyway with the exception of chief appointments who require week plus commitments.
  20. She is a great driver and expects the return favor as she skis as much as me, and then tricks on top of it.
  21. But no problems lately in either Chrome or Safari
  22. I actually use a Birkenstock 3/4 foot bed. Using it for 6 years and looks as good as new. Works really well.
  23. I like the idea of increased competition, but am not fond of allowing specialists three rounds for an event when an all around skier only gets one. It would make the 3 Event Skier choose between all around and having a legitimate shot at their best event. Keep it a one round tourney and you could easily do it in a long weekend.
  24. Problem is, Olympic and anti doping rules prohibit all PED's, even those prescribed by physicians for needed medical uses and many normal drugs used as masking agents. Sounds good until you look closely at the details. Drug testing is a hugely complicated issue. Even the most stringent don't stop the use. People a lot smarter than me can't put together fair and effective testing. Create a lot of loopholes for medical necessity and you might as well not have the policy to begin with. I don't say this just to hear my own voice, only to raise legitimate discussion about an issue that is deceivingly complicated.
  25. It is my understanding that International rules forbid all prohibited items even if prescribed. Gives too easy of a loophole.
