  1. Here in the midwest, we had a neuro surgeon named Dr. Hacker.
  2. Could it also be that because you are traveling 2k faster at the balls that your cross course speed out of the turn will likewise be greater?
  3. I think it also depends upon the line length. For example, at 22 off, I think 55k is much much easier than 58k. However, I have heard many elite skiers say that at 39 and beyond, there is not as much difference with some preferring 58k as they think that it makes gaining width easier.
  4. I'm on Chrome and have the same issue as 6balls
  5. I would be shocked if the record was disallowed because of the lack of a shock tube. I agree with Shane, some rules have no impact upon the persons performance. I don't think they would disallow a record simply because one of the judges towers does not have a railing on the side, even though required by rules. If that were the standard, a rival competitor on site could challenge a record for some insignificant violation they witnessed. It would never end.
  6. If the claim is that they are two skis, try picking up one of them. The underlying problem is the potential abuse. For example, the old classic disk was a very easy device to get up on an do basic surface turn tricks, but it violates the dimension rule. I don't think you can get around the rule by cutting it in half to have two 'skis' and then reattach them together as was done here. Don't get me wrong, I feel horrible for the little girl who was obviously having a great time skiing. But as I read the original post, this was done at an R tournament at Regionals and Nationals.
  7. Problem is, by rigidly attaching the skis together, they are no longer two skis they become one unit.

  9. The problem I see is that by attaching the two skis together, they are no longer individual skis but one. From the picture it would appear that the connection between the two is fairly rigid. Without measuring, it would appear that they would violate the maximum width limitation under the rule.

  11. What some of us may be missing is the judge's location when making the call. If they are on the boat's side of the course, they probably would have seen at least half the buoy on their side of the ski, and giving the benefit of the doubt to the skier, called it good. Also keep in mind that the judges do not have such a close view of the turn. If the turn was at one ball, tower two is 700 feet away! Until we mandate overhead video buoy systems with instant review, judging is not going to be perfect.
  12. yup. It's still scored as a long line pass at 32 mph. I kinda like that start better than 15 off. (I Hate 15 off at any speed)
  13. MCskiFreak What exactly do you mean by oversized? the 200 is only 6 inches longer than a 196 and only a bit wider. It does seem to be a much deeper boat with more interior finishings and weight. Is it running surface which is the issue? Is it weight that is the issue?
  14. And keep in mind that the third jump won W1 nationals by 12 feet!
  15. Rope releases are just a 2 foot section of rope wrapped around the pylon that the operator lets go of to release the rope. Its pretty idiot proof, but I don't think a great idea for tournaments. In this past weekend's regionals, I saw at least two trickers lose a pass because the operator accidentally let the rope go or it got pulled out of their hand. The rope releases only made up about 25% of the skiers this year, mostly in the collegiate contingent. A lot will depend on how you intend to use it. If in a tournament, the method of attachment makes a big difference as to how hard it it to attach and remove. Many times you don't have much time, (couple of minutes at best) to do that so ease of attachment can be important. We have always used A.R.E. and KW with good luck. If permanently attached, the A.R.E. is good as it is fairly small and stays out of the way below the slalom attachment. I know the masterline works well but can be confusing on attaching the rope correctly. The robbins is similar to a rope release in that the operator has to hold the rope to keep the line attached. I am not familiar with a Trick Systems or Vortex release. Hope this helps.
  16. I have heard some complaints about this year's boat with the bigger engine.
  17. I finally saw Nate ski in person, really impressive. A very clean 39 followed by 4 and 1/2 at 41 with a 10 to 15 mph tail. He's the real deal. Too bad he didn't get to ski the Masters this year.
  18. It may depend on a number of things. How quick is your boat to speed? Do you have straight in approaches or do, (can you), turn as you enter the course. You may want to try finding the site on Google Earth. It has a measuring tool that is reasonably accurate. If you can get about 1800 to 2000 feet, I would think you could easily make it work.
  19. I thought I recognized McCabe's sweet ride. Great boat. I think the course may look narrow because of the location of the pylon at the back of the boat. Similar to filming from an inboard from the very front of the open bow.
  20. I see in your ski log that you skied behind the R & D Malibu recently. Saying its here to stay must mean that it was good?
  21. John: Any way to get a 'tool bar' at the bottom of the page so we can click back to the discussions without having to scroll back up to the top of the page. Since I always finish looking at the last post on the bottom, it would sure make it easier to navigate back to the list. I'm really impressed with the upgrade. Keep up the great work.
  22. I found that too. If you return to the discussions page by clicking the button in the blue bar above it does not do it. If you return by clicking the go back button the system does not recognize what you have looked at. For what its worth, I use chrome.
  23. So if you have a headway speed restriction of 45 mph, you are good to go?
