  1. Skiing sure is an addiction, but until it starts to effect my family or job,I'll keep hitting it hard.Actually I'm on the disabled list through next summer,so you guys might have to give me a few 12th step calls.I have to listen to the Doctor and remember I just can't ski,no matter what.
  2. I had cervical spine surgery a few weeks ago,so my off season will most likely last through our entire summer next year.Oh well, sure beats my alternatives.I'm sure glad we are in the age of the internet, that way I get to go for ski rides when ever you guys post em on this sight.
  3. Had the surgery last week, everything went OK,now for the long healing process............Richard,if you get the table, try to get the inversion boots.Without them your feet really hurt. And if you have lower back problems, don't do the sit-ups while inverted. That is the worst back pain I have ever given myself.
  4. Thanks for the info guys. You're not late for the party,it just moved over to Rawly's house(skibug is on the mend).I got a second and third opinion,so it looks like surgery(laminoplasty) will be taking place soon.I've actually gotten better info on this sight than on my desert racing sight where severe injuries are more common. Thanks again, hope to be skiing by next fall.Or should I change that to autumn?Â
  5. That 2011 Mastercraft you have for sale looks like it could be a Navy fighter.Nice boat! 2011 MasterCraft 001.JPG
  6. Better not leave The Krista in charge. All the younger guys will be shooting for detention.
  7. Just kidding John.Have fun in Europe.Who's our sub for the next two weeks?I'll try to behave.
  8. Horton will probably start doing backflips when he sees this trick ski question on his slalom sight. How bout a front flip on your slalom ski?
  9. Steve Rawlinson-47,living my long time dream of having a place at a tournament lake(Ski West Village). My family and I spend half the year skiing on a regular bases and the other half racing our motorcycles out in the Mojave desert(District 37 AMA).Just a blue colar guy barely making it by,but we do.Â
  10. Ankle injuries seem to happen to me when it starts to get colder.Do you guys do anything different to protect the ankles in the colder temps?
  11. Thanks for the reply Skibug.I'm going to get a few more medical opinions before I go ahead with a surgery.I'll give the ortho spine surgeon a shot.Glad you're doing well. And I will keep skiing in the forefront,it might be the offroad motorcycle racing I'll give up.That will give me more ski time.      Thanks
  12. Skibug,  Did you get the surgery?I've seen you on the B.O.S.,so I figure you're still skiing.I have what the doctor considers severe cervical spinal stenosis, and he is recomending laminoplasty surgery.I am getting a second opinion to make sure that is the right way to go.My symptoms aren't as bad as yours were.I've just got the numbness, slight loss of balance, and loosing dexterity in my hands. The worst part is when the Dr. said no skiing for a year.Lets hear how your story ended.   Thanks  Steve
  13. Might be all the skis Horton has been on this year.Looks like the alley behind his house.
  14. Trying to get it totalled still.Seems that because of the bad economy, the insurance company and dealer are trying to do what is best for them.Pulled it from the shop, and will talk to an insurance arbitrator.I don't want to start throwing parts at it until I know this is my only option .Not looking for sympathy here, just figured the advice will help me now and maybe the next sub captain down the road.
  15. Would this world famous stunt double/skier please give me some advice on my swamped boat thread. You seem to know alot about boats. And yes,the Rawly mirror survived the incident.    Thanks  Steve
  16. Ski Slut?,and all along I thought he was just a Nomad willing to share his vast wisdom for a ski ride.
  17. Â Gratitude seems to usually get me out of those foul moods. We got it made.Like most people on this board,I think about skiing all week long, but I'm actually on the water for only a few hours at most.So I try to get rid of any negativities that will affect my skiing before I get to the dock.Meditation seems to work well for me.Things break, stuff goes wrong, deadlines need to be met,relationships,etc..Get yourself a lakeoneskier T-shirt and have fun out there.
  18. I'll check into that, but I was told that Z.O.only works with '07 and newer mastercrafts. Â Thanks
  19. Insurance company and shop want to replace engine and most electronics.Since it was fresh water, they thing it will be OK in the future. Our lake has a large amount of Aquashade dye in it.Does anyone know if this makes the water more corrosive?
  20. The driver is 20,she's the middle daughter. So no,they're not really kids.
  21. That's about what happened, but when my kid was going backwards, she got more water to come in.She has this guy beat.I was at the other end of the lake,so I didn't see what happened.I just heard both of my daughters screaming hysterically, and could tell that the boat was floating way too low in the water. After almost losing my oldest daughter in a tubing accident,I was just glad that they were OK.The daughter who was driving was in shock. She actually told her sister"don't tell dad".Yeah right, dad wont notice a thing....Still waiting to hear from my insurance guy.
  22. Engine sucked lots of water,it was running when the water level went over the intake manifold.Engine is being replaced(2 busted rods),along with most electronics.Seems mechanic does not want to order a complete engine as recomended to me by Indmar, instead he wants to get a long block and re-use some of my old parts.Apparently a new engine, tranny, and electronics would put his estimate over the insurance companies repair vs.total the boat out threshold. The boat is drive by wire, and I haven't heard any mention of replacing throttle parts. So that is the type of advice I am looking for.Should I go with the deal that will make my dealer the most money,or should I request more parts to be replaced or have the boat totaled?I am also concerned about long term effects and re-sale value.I planned on keeping this boat for a long time.Â
  23.   While learning how to drive the course,my daughter hit reverse at the end of the course when the boat was settleing back into the water. The nose dove in(2005 Mastercraft x-7(197)and filled the boat with water. The wall of water knocked the mirror off the windshield, and bent the bimini, when the boat stopped running(it was still going in reverse under water)the water level was at the top of the gunnels.Sorry John,no pictures.Long story short, that was over  2 months ago and after jacking me around for what seems forever,my local Mastercraft mechanic seems to want to keep the parts total under the insurance companies set price to total out the boat.I love the boat, but will it ever be the same?Any insurance guys,or mechanics out there. This happened in fresh water. Looking for advice, thanks in advance   Steve
  24. I think enjoiskiing's correct on this one.
